Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 25

Post » Sat May 29, 2010 5:08 pm

Where did you guys get the idea that this month's Game Informer would relate to The Elder Scrolls V in any way? It seems so arbitrary. Why didn't you get all excited for last month's issue? Why not next month? Are you going to do this for every issue?

Hope Springs Eternal

So the answer is, Yes, they will do this for every issue.

Because before the April edition was revealed last month we weren't aware that the trademark would be expiring on July 31st, and there's only 4 more Game-informer covers left until then. Oblivion and Fallout 3 had covers, so it's not crazy to think TES V will. And yes, people will get excited for every one until the trademark expires, after which everybody will be deeply, deeply depressed.

What's the possibility of Bethesda using a different magazine instead of Game Informer? I know they've worked with them in the past, but it is still a possibility worth considering.

Beats me

All I know is that if they don't use Game Informer I will be quite pissed considering I subscribed to it just because of the slim chance that TES V will be featured in it.

Haha. So did I. :goodjob:
I think the chance of them debuting through another magazine is pretty slim. They haven't in the past.

Hi Gstaff

I really hope we're all on the mark with this trademark and Game Informer speculation or else it would be rather embarrassing when you guys do something completely different.

When does the cover come out?? Soon I'd think. Was oblivion's cover a surprise as well?

The cover is announced in the beginning of the month, every month. But if there is a cover for TES V, we'll find out about the official announcement first before we find out about the cover, like what happened with Oblivion.

Sorry for not explaining. Cliff Blezinski (forgive my spelling) is lead designer for both of the current Gears of War games. He has been scheduled to announce a new title on Jimmey Fallon and that was supposed to air tonight. But, on monday they postponed the announcement and moved it to April 12th. I normally get my GI before then so hopefully this means that won't be the cover of Game informer. This however could be the reason that Game Informer has not yet announced the cover of their next mag as we normally know by now.

Yeah that seems pretty likely.

A new IP is possible, but I think it's really over-speculating things to think by "new" he meant a new IP. Even if it's Gears of War 3, it will still be a "new" game.

Though I wouldn't mind a new IP, as I'm not a big fan of Gears of War.

What does IP stand for, besides the obvious?

Intellectual Property, though I don't know if you were saying that was the obvious. Every series a developer has under it's belt is a different IP, so all of the TES games to ever come out are a part of Bethesda's Elder Scrolls IP, and Fallout 3 is a part of the Fallout IP.

Well, yeah, I didn't know that term. The obvious of which I spoke was an IP address, and it just wracked my brain trying to make sense of what you all were talking about, given that was my only inclination of what IP meant. :P

IP could also serve as a declaration of performing a certain bodily excrement function! :D

Yeah you're right. Microsoft just slipped up, announcing it under the impression that cliffyb was gonna be on fallon's show already.
