Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 26

Post » Mon Jul 05, 2010 2:35 pm

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1065099. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

I think the reason why they are doing/ have done so many games in between Oblivion and TES: V is that they want the game to be pefect, and are trying out different styles so as to know which couple work best. It's probably not actually TES.

2 if you include New Vegas, which must be nearly complete, minus tweaking, by now.

Bethesda Game Studios has only made one game since Oblivion, and that's Fallout 3. Every single other game on this forum, including New Vegas, was published by Bethesda Softworks, not developed by Bethesda Game Studios.

How about Brink?
Are they only publishing that aswell?
Or was there any form of developing involved?

That game looks attractive to be honest. And it sure will be out way before tes so :whistling:

Yes, they're only publishing it. The only games on this forum that they actually developed are Fallout 3 and the TES games.

The fact that so many people aren't aware of the differences between Bethesda's published games and developed games makes me extremely scared of the day they announce the TES MMO from Zenimax Online that Bethesda will only be publishing.

Honestly, now that i think about it, i dont think tes V will be released on this generation of consoles. It seems to me that bethesda likes to have drastically improved graphics every new installement to shock and wow everyone. They like to have their games top notch. They have fallout to keep us busy on these consoles until they can unveil the absolutaly stunning TESV like they did with oblivion. I think a new release on the 360 will not get the respect it deserves or even reach the potential that it should. I'm more than willing to wait until 2012 so the new xbox and tes can cause the universe to collapse.

The new generation definitely wont be coming out in 2012, or anytime early enough for TES V. The big 3 have said it and every anolyst I've seen has said it. Maybe 2013, but I can't see Bethesda delaying TES V just to launch it on a new console. Bethesda still has the ability to make TES V look great, the Xbox 360 isn't hampering the potential for great graphics. Consider how Oblivion looks and how http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/39148/metro-2033/images/metro-2033-20091201041459789.html?page=mediaFull looks on the Xbox 360. Hell, Crysis 2 is on consoles and it looks great. Bethesda isn't limited by the power of the Xbox 360, and even if they are trying to make the next Crysis they can make the PC version's graphics better.

Well, that's going to be a really expensive game for me then, since I will have to replace my PC for another...
And of course that's just what I will do !! :P

Crysis and Metro 2033 have relatively linear gameplay, whereas Elder Scrolls games feature huge gameworlds instead of levels and maps. I'm not sure if world size even means anything though, so you could be right.

What a terrible, terrible thread. It's just like the threads we have here, but without the TES veterans.

Metro 2033 yes, but Crysis involves some very massive open spaces. CryEngine 3 is quite capable of rendering large open worlds like in TES. Not that there is any chance in the world of TES: V using CE3...

Early May, likely sometime between the 5th and 10th of the month.

Well it really does seem like there little info that we can use to speculate over.
I wouldnt get my hopes up for te GI of may, if they have to announce it before june like Antibody said the earliest GI edition that could possible feature TES is the june edition.
But even then i would rather place my money on the July edition, they could announce on their site before 31 june, and have it featured in July issue.

They have to announce it before July 31st, so they have the June, July and August editions left, coming out in May, June and July, respectively.

But yeah, they really isn't much to speculate on. All we can do is wait and see if they let the trademark expire or not.

My bad for mixing up the dates.
But yeah then it would be the august edition if i were to put money on it.

And of course the reason we don't all assume it's some trick is because that would be a strange way to mislead the fanbase, repeatedly filling out all the paperwork to renew a trademark they aren't using. Much easier to have a writer dev go into the lore forum and write province-specific lore that isn't for the game's province, cheaper too. Seriously, which would you rather do:

1. Go through the morass of papers and legal jargon to obtain and repeatedly renew a trademark soleley to mislead the fanbase into thinking the game was in one province while it was in another.

2. Slip MK a $50 and tell him to write the Aldudugga, both implying future Skyrim importance and adding new lore. That's two things for less time, money and paperwork.

Also, I went to the E3 2010 site again. On their big list of exhibitor logos, the first thing I see when the site opens is "Bethesda Softworks." Now here's a question, were they listed as "Softworks" or "Game Studios" in previous E3s where they showcased Oblivion and Fallout 3 post-announcement?

EDIT: Looked it up, seems that at last E3 they were listed as Softworks as well.

I don't think we see Elder Scrolls V for another 2-3 years:

We have an ES MMO that should be revealed very soon, most likely at E3 2010. I doubt they're going to announce or release a conflicting ES game in the same time period.

Hurray!

There IS a new element:

Go there: http://tmportal.uspto.gov/external/portal/tow?SRCH=Y&isSubmitted=true&details=&SELECT=US+Serial+No&TEXT=77044247#

Click on "Extension of Time to File SOU" with the date on the left "26-Jan-2010"

This is the uspto page for the Skyrim trademark concerning guides, manuals, magazines, etc. for video games.
It also concerns electronic on-line store (international class 035), but for this class, on the line "Goods or Services", it is not wrote "Keep All listed" like in the others pages named Extensions of Time to file SOU for that trademark. It is now wrote "DELETE ENTIRE CLASS OR PROCESS ACCORDING TO STATEMENT OF USE AND REQUEST TO DIVIDE "

What does it mean? I don't really speak English so i'm not sure, but is it possible that it means they've informed that they are going to use this part of the trademark and so they don't have to pay for this class?
This class concerns On-line Store and on the Elder Scrolls Website, the page OblivionDownload.com is down for maintenance: http://obliviondownloads.com/

What do you think of that?

One, the MMO is a big if. It was some rumor by some group regarding something else. second, that would have nothing to do with Bethesda.

Hey, anyone see the Red Dead GI? Fallout New Vegas looks exactly like Fallout 3 with yellow text instead of green. Durp, Obsidian.

To be fair Obsidian had to build the game off of Fallout 3, so they really couldn't have improved the graphics very much.

The problem is Obsidian seems to be where fan-beloved franchises abandoned by their devs go to die, like KotOR. But that's a discussion for another thread.

Even if the http://www.vg247.com/2010/01/20/source-bethesdas-elder-scrolls-mmo-missed-its-2009-reveal/ has nothing to do with Bethesda, I doubt they would release ANOTHER TES game while that game was in its prime.

First of all, we don't even know if the MMO is ES. IT could just as easily be a new IP. I'm hoping they don't make the next ES an MMO, I hate almost all online play (the notable exception being L4D and a very select group of shooters). At least, I hope if they do make ES an MMO, they do it completely different from WoW.
