Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 27

Isn't it amazing how little evidence it takes to convince someone of what they want to be true? :D

Oh, we don't need evidence. Only blind faith and 60 dollars grasped firmly, waiting to throw them it at the nearest games clerk at the slightest sign of TES V.

Never let your guard down.

 By the nine divines! I don't have 60 extra dollars laying around!

Just got May Gameinformer, no sign of TES:V anywhere :'(

It was implied. :P

Doesn't the May Game Informer come out in May?

It's kinda like "Madden 2010" being sold in August 2009. I've never understood it either.

Wouldn't merchandise be sold after the game is released? Even though the trademark is soon expiring, they can drop it and pick it up again to sell merchandise after the game is released.

Anyone want to reply to that?

They can build up more hype if they release that sort-of stuff while the game's being announced.

I've seen it happen in videogames, sporting events, new buildings opening, etc.

It's a marketing strategy that people use to get the word out there about an upcoming product. A shirt that says "TES:III Morrowind" would make less money now than it would when Morrowind was first learned about. It lets the sudden and impulsive-buyer fanatics to go crazy and buy stuff.

Maybe it won't even technically be sold until you buy the game, and it'll come in a pack like "Buy this bundle and get a SKYRIM hat too!"

It's also a way for businesses to readily rake a portion of the dough, but early on. It's basically pure PR. Like a trailer for a movie.

P.S. People are more likely to read into detail about something when they see people walking around advertising a product, and that means more potential buyers.

But it isn't how Bethesda has done it before, I don't think.

I'm not so sure we can be so definite about this.

It's a strategy that's been seen around since posters were invented... maybe they're attempting to be more lucrative now?

I have a habit of having very ambitious goals and conclusions, so it's good for somebody to be pulling me back down to Earth instead of just "rolling with it". Lol.

Maybe it means nothing at all, or something else, you could definitely be right about that.

I just want to make sure, because I want ESV to be announced soon as well, but it doesn't make sense to me to have ESV merchandise as the game is announced.

It'll take more than sixty. Unless, you're not buying the special edition. In which case, you're an embarrassment to people with five stars, everywhere.

Shirts, hats, coffee mugs, etc.

E3 That year with Oblivion was May 18th, so that makes sense... sell products to raving industry professionals who wear a lot of gaming gear. Maybe they are getting the Store online and ready so that they can sell Skyrim products at E3 this year and use their trademark before it expires...???

I Googled Elder Scrolls IV merch, and it came up as a cached page off of elderscrolls.com

OXM's cover was for Fallout New Vegas. Remind me, is that an expansion, or a whole new game? If its not an expansion...I'd be very, very upset.

<--- Embarrassing people with 5 stars for several years....

TOPIC: Cryptic gamesas posting via their facebook group (yes I looked at it, yes this makes me fair game for anti-fb insults) seemed pretty half-assed in acknowledging "Only with your tremendous support and feedback will Bethesda Softworks continue with The Elder Scrolls saga and open the door to other Tamriel provinces." ... Whatever that is supposed to mean...

It means, "Screw the people on the forums; we can build up plenty of hype without announcing anything! Muahahaha!" Yes, the laugh was necessary :)

Can't believe the store is up again! Being a recent PC Oblivion convert from the 360, I'am ashamed to say that I was forced to torrent the DLC for the PC version (I already own all the 360 DLC) even though I purchased the PC Collectors Edition. Now the store is up, I am going to do the honourable thing and legitimately purchase said DLC for the PC. After all, the money goes into the TES V coffers (allegedly!!) :)
I will also hopefully purchase ALL TES V merchandise without guilt!!! Bring it on!

I feel like I shouldn't get my hopes up again.
'Cept I have a very peculiar feeling... there's too much going on recently, I'm getting a vibe.

I've gotten a vibe so many times...and needless to say, it didn't mean anything.

I think you guys might be onto something. I was skeptical at first but, this just might be crazy enough to be true.

On hearing more on this I think I'm half insane on the issue and half convinced . Damn speculation gets me all excited, also how long was the shop down?
