Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 27

Post » Sat Jul 10, 2010 6:44 pm

Well gentlemen, I remember going to the E3 '10 website and it marked Bethesda as a company that will show something new. Hopefully that is enough information to set your minds at ease. I for one, will be happy whether or not it is the next ES because I have been hangin out with Bioware. Maybe it will be ESV, let's hope for it, fellas

It's going to be Fallout: Vegas.

I just checked. Bethesda is on the Exhibitor List, and neither is Zenimax. But they just have a booth there, nothing on the floor meeting room. (I have no idea what that means)

Just got May Gameinformer, no sign of TES:V anywhere :'(

Is that the Red Dead one or is there a newer one?

I'm on a BioWare marathon myself, just did a 100% completion file of Mass Effect 2 and am about to start Dragon Age.

It won't be that game they aren't making. Why would it be that game they aren't making, made by the developer that only seems to make games in IPs owned by companies too busy making something else? Because that's what Obsidian does, when a company abandons an IP they let it peter out with Obsidian, like BioWare did with KotOR.

Having a booth means having a booth. Like at PAX, you walk up to them and say hi, ask about stuff, receive no straight answers, and watch whatever they have on their booth TVs. As for not having a panel themselves, that doesn't actually mean anything. Remember, Red Steel 2 wasn't announced at an Ubisoft panel or booth, it was announced at the Nintendo panel.

This is like a conspiracy theory, here. Anyone else notice that? The lack of absolute direct evidence (particularly the "200 years" blip) is taken and itself considered evidence.

They'll likely announce the game and put some merchandise up on the store related to TES V so they can show that they intend to use the trademark.

My papers are in order. I'm also opening up my own brand of clothing called Skyrim. Its gonna feature burly men with epic beards covered in blue face paint. :P

I'll update you guys with some of the designs sometime today.

Good luck with Dragon Age. It should keep you busy for a while if you do all the side quests and collect everything. Actually, you have to play through it 3 times to collect all the codex's and achievements because depending on your race/class, you start the game in a different area. So for example, if you decide to pay as an elf versus say a dwarf, you will be in a competely different part of the world with a completely different story line, starting out, which is really cool. It gives the game a lot of replay value. I'm playing it right now on my first playthough. I'm about 75 hours in and can tell I still have a ways to go, lots of places on the map I haven't even been to yet. Ok, sorry for getting off topic, but just had to comment.

I don't even know where all the codexes are :D Still collecting.
I'm experimenting with the "relationships" such as the queen and the party members for my noble. Trying to get my guy the "player" acheivement/trophy. You get it when you have 3 affairs at once and you keep it secret from each of the women xD

I was gonna say something but I did not want to de-rail. Looks clear now.

This whole thing seems pretty familiar to a certain south park episode. I hope no one tries to kill the phonies.

Can't believe the store is up again! Being a recent PC Oblivion convert from the 360, I'am ashamed to say that I was forced to torrent the DLC for the PC version (I already own all the 360 DLC) even though I purchased the PC Collectors Edition. Now the store is up, I am going to do the honourable thing and legitimately purchase said DLC for the PC. After all, the money goes into the TES V coffers (allegedly!!) :)
I will also hopefully purchase ALL TES V merchandise without guilt!!! Bring it on!

I'd edit your post if I were you, considering you just admitted to an illegal act against Bethesda Game Studios on their forum, which is against the rules of the site in the first place.
Anyway,
How can you all be so sure that it's New Vegas they are showing at E3? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

That's what I was wondering, especially since somebody mentioned that the E3 website said that Bethesda is showing off something new; Fallout: New Vegas isn't exactly new anymore. It could be Hunted: The Demon's Forge since I don't think we've seen very much about that or if you take new at the most literal meaning then that would mean that they'd be showing off something that hasn't been announced yet... :hubbahubba:

Why doesn't it make sense? New Vegas is still Bethesda's IP (even if they're not developing it) and is scheduled for release this fall. Showing it off at E3 will no doubt generate interest and therefore benefit them financially. Announcing TES:V at E3 would likely overshadow New Vegas, relegating it to an after thought and thus diminishing sales. With it likely being a couple years before it's released, they have plenty of time to show off TES:V at E3. They don't HAVE to announce TES:V at E3 this year.

Not to mention that they wouldn't just have a booth for TES:V. They'd be up there announcing it in front of everyone if they were going to go through the trouble of announcing it at E3.
They already announced Fallout 3: New Vegas, so just having a booth makes a lot of sense.

But don't forget Bungie's approach at the Xbox display last year... They did a display, with full game play, of Halo 3: ODST, while at the end of their time they used a teaser trailer of Halo: Reach as an announcement... There's no reason why they(gamesas) couldn't show some gamplay of NV, and still make an announcement of TES:V

I don't know. I know they want to market New Vegas (since it is there IP and all), but seriously, what else is there to really say. They've announced it, theres been magazine articles written, etc telling a little about it. It's not really "something new" anymore. Besides, if they are going to show it off, doesn't it make more sense for the developer to do this, not the publisher. I'm not saying TESV will be shown at E3, but even if it's announced there and they show something, I don't see how that diminishes New Vegas's sales. Sure, it will steal their thunder for the day, but has no impact on actual sales. Once it gets closer to release day, everyone interested is pretty much going to go buy the game anyway. New Vegas may in fact be shown, but don't see that effecting TESV or vise versa.

I just want to make sure, because I want ESV to be announced soon as well, but it doesn't make sense to me to have ESV merchandise as the game is announced.

Why not? If their trademark expires soon, and selling cheap merchandise when the game is announced helps them show their intent to use the trademark, then why wouldn't they do so?

Just got May Gameinformer, no sign of TES:V anywhere :'(

We've known that for a few weeks now.

Call of Duty MMO? Mass Effect 3 under Sony but not Microsoft? Forza Motorsport 4 less than a year after 3 came out?

I think it's safe to say that is ridiculously fake.

This really doesn't have any bearing on the discussion here. There surely will be more developers and publishers at E3 than the four shown in the screen, which signifies it is not an exclusive list and therefore cannot inform us of anything beyond what is shown there. Thanks for the link though...

...not to mention the obvious authenticity problems others have cited.

You don't know that anymore than I know they will show TES:V at E3. None of us know anything. It's all still speculation.
So the chance of them showing off TES:V at E3 is just as high as New Vegas.

Then by your logic you likewise cannot refute my claim that they could be showing off a parade of fluffy kittens in penguin outfits. :P

We don't know what they're showing at E3. This debate is moot.

The debate is not moot. It would only be moot if the debate no longer mattered anymore, such as if Bethesda pulled out of E3 or if E3 was suddenly canceled. The debate would then become moot because it wouldn't matter anymore. It is decisively for that very reason the we don't know for sure that we're debating. Otherwise, if we knew anything with certainty then there would be no need for debate (another example of a moot point by the way). Once TES:V is announced, then this thread will also become moot.

This is a speculation thread. Debating is what we do! :whisper:
