Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 27

Post » Sat Jul 10, 2010 7:53 pm

From looking at past trends (III, IV, & FO3) and incorporating information speculated regarding the trademark as well as understanding a second novel is to be released (at least that isn't speculative), largely as a marketing tool for the TES IP, I suspect the following announcement timeline:

Wednesday, June 2nd - elderscrolls.com is updated with an announcement of TESV
Monday, June 7th- Cover of GameInformer reveals first screens of TESV (July Edition)
Monday, June 14th- Bethesda Online Store includes Official TESV merchandise including t-shirts, head gear (other trademark worthy items)
Tuesday, June 15th- E3 begins and Bethesda reveals game play footage of TESV
Tuesday, July 13th- Second Elder Scrolls release date is revealed as November 23, 2010
Tuesdat, November 23rd- Second Elder Scrolls novel is released, and release date of 3/15/2011 for TESV is revealed
Tuesday, March 15th- (The Ides of March) TESV is released in Europe and North America

I'll buy you all a shot of Jager if this doesn't happen to the letter... just meet me at the King and Queen Tavern on Thursday June 3rd if my first prediction doesn't come true.

Does anyone know wether or not TES V is going to be coming out onto the Xbox 360 or is it exclusively for the PC?

It definitely wont be PC exclusive, no. It will come out for the 360, but as far as a PS3 same day release, I'm not sure. Possibly, however. Although they might do it like they did OB, and release the PS3 version at a later date. Hopefully not as late, however.

I highly, highly doubt they'll reveal gameplay footage of ESV to the public this E3 (that's if they reveal ESV at all).

And releasing in March of next year? I don't think so. That's not even a year since they would announce the game. I just don't see that happening.

Agreed, mostly. I'm still rooting for something at E3, or possibly before.
But a release date of March next year? Noooo.

Bethesda sold more copies of both Morrowind and Oblivion on consoles than they did on the PC, so TES V will definitely be for the 360 and the PS3(please stop forgetting about us PS3 players, people).

10/24/2004 TESIV In Development announcement
5/18/2005 E3 2005, trailer with gameplay footage
3/20/2006 OB Release Date

Since the realm of speculation includes the trademark, and we also know that Oblivion Store launched the day before E3 2005, it is reasonable to assume that with the return of the Bethesda Online Store that they will launch TESV products the day before E3 as well with a subset of Skyrim Store, etc. There was no fall release of information regarding the development but there WAS a fall release of the novel, in-step with the above timeline... this is speculation... afterall :)

Correct, you can't rule out speculation. :) It's welcome here. Is it extremely unlikely? Yeah, but it's possible.
I'm just saying, I'd be genuinely surprised if there isn't at LEAST an announcement by E3.

Coming up with exact dates for things to happen like that will always lead to failure. You already failed by coming up with a release date that is practically guaranteed to be off by at least a year. :shakehead:

Unless this was a bad attempt at a joke...

Failing to accurately predict, that is VERY likely so; however I calculated these dates with certain logical parameters in mind and without intending to be funny (except I would laugh if you had some notion of the Jager shot being anything other than just playful banter). Since the GameInformer is usually released between the 7th and the 10th of every month, my first date needed to be prior to the likely first date at which the July issue would arrive at a person's house- that being delivered as early as possible in that timeframe where the USPS delivers. TES announcements have been on the website before the covers of the magazine. Since they are likely sent at the end of the business week to postal warehouse locations in preparation for bulk mailings, I set the elderscrolls.com announcement at the midweek point prior to the first deliverable day in this structure. Thus Wednesday, June 2nd became my first speculative date allowing the magazine to arrive on June 7th (my second date). Since E3 is June 15th, and the last launch of store goods for Oblivion Store was the day before E3 2005, I set this date to also be the day before E3, on June 14th. E3 commences, logical date for the trailer with gameplay footage June 15th. The next two dates have FAR less logic, however physical media releases and announcements follow a retail cycle where Tuesday is a release date. Since there needs to be an announcement of the second book and a fall release (similar to the first) for holiday sales, I set the mid-point on a Tuesday in July for the book release, and then the game release date on the date of the book release (since there was the amazon.com oops release with the first book). In order to get the final release date, I needed it to be on a Tuesday in March to follow the same timeline as with Oblivion and the Ides of March (15th) was consequently a perfect point to speculate on.

Whether I fail in my predictions or not really doesn't matter too much since it was just fun imagining it playing out in this way after all :)

This is all reasonable, but based on a lot of assumptions...the biggest being that TES:V will make an appearance at E3.

I'm expecting an E3 announcement, hype for TESV can't get any higher than it already is without an announcement.

If you don't like the speculation, Dumbkid, stop posting in the thread. It's obvious you think it's a "moot" point, so, stop posting if you aren't going to contribute to the speculation.

I was never saying don't speculate, I was just trying to say good speculation should have some backing.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1082727-official-when-and-if-we-will-get-tes-v/page__st__40__p__15781144&#entry15781144. You all can post whatever kind of speculation you want on this thread, but I really want to emphasize that kind of speculation.

Ergg :(

I have a feeling it will be announced at next years E3, lol sorry >.<. Anyway, the reason why is that it would have barely been in-development. Sure the engine may be there, but too have a working game in which they can demo? nah..

They would of only started working on t recently, seeing as FO wasn't completed until not that long ago...(DLC etc. I know they could have split resources but still).

I still hope for a E3 annoncement, but very little in the way of things showing off if they do.

eg. maybe some dev screenshots and concept art, and thats it. When they annonced oblivion they didnt have that long trailer and the playable demo (or did they, i cant remember....but it seems a bit too much to have if they annonced 2 years before release), no that was the year after near the release date.

Regardless of the speculation that I posted (since it is just based upon previous games and strategy and not on the engine design or the FO3 factor) I hat to say my more grounded side has told me that it will be released at the latter end of this current console generation. In regards to the actual Oblivion timeline (which seemed longer than it was for all TES fans) it all started with:

(Rockville, MD) October 22, 2004 -- Bethesda Softworks LLC, a ZeniMax Media company, today announced that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion? is currently in development for PC and future generation consoles. In development since 2002, Oblivion is another leap forward in role-playing with its combination of freeform gameplay and cutting-edge graphics.

E3 2005 May 17th 2005 Microsoft Press Conference - First trailer showing the game play footage

March 20th, 2006 - Oblivion is released. In UNDER one YEAR from E3

So at least I am hopeful that it could be released 1 year after an E3 showing... and the grounded me says that means it won't be at this E3...

The error you made wasn't it being released under one year from E3, the error was that it was released under a year from being announced. That didn't happen with Morrowind, Oblivion, or Fallout 3, and it wont happen with TES V. Trust me, I have two word documents full of speculation on every single important date regarding Bethesda's games, and there isn't any pattern, aside from the pattern seen in http://i40.tinypic.com/2dhz3mq.jpg chart, that Bethesda follows. Speculate on past dates all you want, but it's foolish to get any more specific than what I put in that chart.

Oh by the way guys, since you don't know...

Oblivion's producer [Not Howard] left Bethesda after it shipped and is now working elsewhere. Side note: Which is great since Morrowind > Fallout 3 > > Oblivion, blecth
The MMO team formed around the end of 2006. Did any Bethesda employees transfer to that project? Don't know.

So two more things for ya'll to speculate on. Enjoy :celebration:

Hahha. Don't be ridiculous. Why would they do that? That would only draw more attention to it and give credibility to the poster. As it stands right now, everything posted here is pure speculation, nothing more, just how they want it. Besides, don't you think they have more important things to worry about right now then to monitor their forums so tightly that they would start deleting posts like that?

The precision of our estimations is undoubtedly questionable, but I am confident we're very accurate on some points - particularly that TES:V will be announced this summer.

Apparently someone does not believe in big brother. I am pretty sure one of the speculated theories is that Beth is the Illuminati behind all world decisions, and their games are just mind control devices. Seriously, we know less about TESV than we do about the Illuminati.
