Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 27

Post » Sat Jul 10, 2010 9:33 pm

Lolwut? I'm saying that I assumed this Chris Holland fellow was you, because he was using the same picture you posted in the picture thread here. I don't think you made the Bethesda page if that's what you were thinking.

Yes, that's me, but I made that post on the page under the impression that it was legit.

Pretty screwed up that the person running it acts like it is though.

... Chris :poke:

That definitely sounds like you were accusing me being the person who was running it. Heh.

Oh, no I didn't mean it like that, though I admit it does sound like it. I typed out the first two lines, then I took a look at the facebook page again and saw you. So then I typed out "...Chris" because, obviously, I saw your name, and was hoping you'd realize everyone here can see your personal info (and as you know this forum is 95% stalkers). And I used the poking smiley because, well, I like the poking smiley.

Just a misunderstanding.

And this relates to TESV speculation because I speculate that Betrayer of Humanity is secretly working for Bethesda to throw us off the important information.

I am not crazy. :stare:

Soooooooooo. What's the deadline date for Bethesda announcing a new game? When does the copyright to the name Skyrim run out? does it overlap E3, or will they have to announce it before E3 (if what we are told is to be believed :))?

First, it's not a copyright but a trademark. Zenimax Media (Bethesda's parent company) actually has three trademarks for 'Skyrim' pending - one for each class or how it will be used. One of their pending trademarks of 'Skyrim' is for use in "computer and video game user instruction manuals; magazines, books, and pamphlets concerning video games; computer and video game strategy guides" and must be used before July 31st or it will expire. This is the soonest pending trademark so we consider it to be the latest they can announce their game.

I see. Thanks for the info.
So it is very possible that E3 may be the place to announce it, as this happens between June 15th and 17th, and Bethesda were apparently one of the first to book their place. This means that they would have a very good stand.
Now, why would they want one of the best stands just to show off some games that come under the Bethesda banner which we already know about (Fallout: New Vegas, Brink etc...)? We already know that Bethesda like E3 as this is where they carried out their big Oblivion announcement so.........

This could be it.......just 2 more months.......

No, Bethesda did not announce Oblivion at E3. Oblivion was first announced on the official site, and then information was released in GameInformer magazine, then in some other magazines, and then there was a demo at E3.

Correct. I firmly believe that if TES:V is going to make an appearance at E3, it will be announced shortly beforehand via their website.

This is exactly what I think. Of coarse, it might be unveiled at E3. No one can say for sure.

Thanks for clearing that up, Gstaff. :)

There's no official Elder Scrolls facebook page. That's kind of a big oversight, isn't it?

Gstaff just said there was a official facebook page, and you basically just told him, the community manager for Bethesda Softworks, that he was wrong.

Gstaff might have just unintentionally misled everyone. Quick, someone re-calculate our speculation formula to include the possibilities of misleading PR and legal information.

Wierdcitizen is right, though. I checked the Bethblog and saw several Facebook links to different pages, but none to an Elderscrolls page.

I guess under-selling, under-performing, under-whelming games like WET and Rogue Warrior are more akin to what facebook users are interested in, lol.

Makes sense though, there hasn't been an ES game in a long time and the ones with fanpages are more recent or upcoming.

This could be yet another thing we should monitor because as soon as there IS a TES page then we know something is on the horizon, hehe.

I'm not saying otherwise, I just thought it was funny in a very ironic way. That someone told the community manager for a game developing company that he was wrong in regards to something that has to do..with the community (facebook).
Just funny to me.

Man you should check out the Infinity Ward forums, lots of laughs to be had there of a similar nature, :hubbahubba:

(no I am not comparing the developers to each other in any way shape or form)

Anyway back on-topic: I personally hope they drop Skyrim and go with Summerset, and I definitely hope the first announcement is made at E3 this year with an amazing trailer and just a TINY bit of gameplay footage.

Yeah sorry, we don't have an official Elder Scrolls Facebook page at this time... just saying that official Facebook pages are listed at Bethblog.
