Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 28

Post » Thu Aug 05, 2010 2:16 pm

I wonder if we can get anything from his post...

Let's see, his name is Shane...
Shane has 5 letters...
The next installment in the series is number 5...

Hmm, this is Thread # 28...
8 / 2 = 4
4 * 5 = 20

Yes yes, 20 is an even number and even numbers can be divided by 2 so 20 / 2 = 10...

That gives us 2010.

What else, May is the 5th month of the year...May 28th is a Friday.

It all adds up! The 5th installment of the TES series will be announced Friday May 28th, 2010!

Excellent.

I love your Crockpot math it's amazing :P You never know though , what else do we have to speculate?

Well, we discussed "Skyrim" to death, and there's no word on the book. So... not a damn thing.

I'm gonna freak out when this actually happens, maybe they will purposely announce it on that day just because of this post.

Shane, I would like to shake your hand. When you can get this many people stirred up, over what is a "hello", thats got to mean something.
Or your the low guy on with the staff right now. In which case I'd still like to shake your hand, but...go wash them first or something. I don't want to get anything weird from the boss' throne that you have probably been polishing. And, again, if thats the case; On every employees behalf, anywhere, use the throne.

Question. Do you find it highly entertaining to read our speculation threads? Are you ever impressed by our speculative reasoning and are we ever close to being right about anything?

Fishing? Do you think, after all this time, Beth would fall for that.

I get the feeling that as I type this, probably 3+ devs are reading these threads while not signed in, or anonymously. Good way to thread stalk while not being detected.
I bet they come in here all the time, and we just don't know/realize it.

That sent quite a few shivers down my spine.
Do you think they speculate on what we will speculate?
Do they?
DO YOU SEE?

Maybe we could try starting anohter thread to speculate on what they speculate, about what we speculate...
...about what they speculate...about what...DO YOU SEE?

It's a paradox AND a conundrum!! Bethesda's using Mysticism magic to confuse us!
Quick everybody! Cast Dispel!
...
Phew, false alarm, no noticeable differences.

But anyway, I think the Bethesda Staff reads this occasionally says "Poor guys, too bad we aren't allowed to tell them yet. They're probably distraught by now." or they think "Poor fools, there's no TES, we made that trademark for giggles."

For Stain and UnknownK,

I was the guy who asked myselve the question about the flashgame idea.
I was actually hoping some of you lot here would be able to clarify that tought.

I know it sounds really absurd to actually even think of a flasdemo or movie to be used to maintain the trademark.
But if you think of it, thats if its legal, it could be a way to keep the trademark, and still be able to use it for TES 5.

But now the question of another guy on the forums was, do they need to show the public, the fans worldwide, proof of the use of the trademark, or must they deliver proof to the trademark office only, so that wathever they reveal wont be revealed to us.

I know this sounds like i fell aon the back of my head, but hey I'm from The Netherlands so i cant help it

"Shane sits at his desk reading this thread"

"Shane contemplates arbitrarily posting subtle nuances, maybe tiny microscopic .gifs with hidden subliminal meaning instead of a period or comma"

"Shane decides it's time to stop watching X-Files"

"Shane laughs maniacally inside as he knows his post has nurtured the seed of hope and speculation, like a crafty puppeteer manipulating a marionette"

"Shane takes a sip of coffee, then puts his meticulously detailed Kynareth figurine down beside the mug. It's time to give them an answer..."

"Shane shakes magic 8-ball"

Shane posts: "Concentrate, and ask again"

Being the masterful stalker that I am, I found this "Shane"s website.
In the section labeled "Personal" he states that he always feels more at home in "SLIGHTLY CHILLY WEATHER".
Gentlemen, feel free to dissect away, but I feel that you will all find that this is sufficient evidence that the next game will be set in Skyrim.

Before anyone takes this too seriously, I don't actually think that this is any sort of evidence about anything.
Well, maybe it's evidence that I have to much free time.

"Shane checks this thread once again"

"Shane stares intensely at his avatar, drawing closer, peering deep into the subconscious mindset of the bear"

"Shane continues probing and dissecting the image for any semblance of meaning relating to his work and livelihood"

"Shane is satisfied with the mocking expression of the bear"

Through attempting to channel the mind of "Shane", I've concluded nothing new in terms of ESV speculation. He's very hard to read going off his posted information. I'm assuming he's well trained in the ways of the Jedi.

Perhaps this also means that Skyrim will not be a frozen wasteland, but only slightly chilly.

Or maybe the main quest involves you solving Skyrim climate change (changing it back to a frozen wasteland or back to "slightly chilly")? Or causing it?

I'm telling you, its all about the subtleties.... :read:

This certainly seems reasonable to me, but I don't know enough about trademark to answer that authoritatively and I don't consider it a real probability.

They have to use the trademark in commerce. I cannot see any interpretation other than that something with the name "Skyrim" must be offered for sale.

What they show exclusively to the trademark office is proof of an intent to use the trademark in commerce and is what is required to get an extension for their application. They've already obtained the maximum number extensions; which means the HAVE to use "Skyrim" in commerce by the end of July.

So it doesn't matter whether they publicize it since them getting an extension after July indicates that they are definitely going to sell something (which we can safely assume is TES and/or TES related merchandise.

Every time Beth filed to renew the trademark they had to show proof that it was being used to the office. For the trademark to become 'set in stone', so to speak, it has to be used publicly. Of course, I imagine that could just be a closed showing to the media of a single screenshot that is then reported on to the public. I don't think it has to be a gameplay video, and i'm sure it doesn't have to be a playable demo. E3 is right around the corner, less than 2 months away, and then the REAL wait begins.

Unamimously? I like that word. You should trademark it.
