Commentaries (by random people) on this Mysterious Stuff (part 1):
"This... this is unbelievable!"
"By the Nine Divines he did it!"
"As unlikely as your story sounds, I believe it..."
"Jeekosit!!!" (the swear filter didnt like me having a H after the S...)
"You′ll get any closer and I′ll turn your bones to ash, so back off!"
"STOP TALKING!"
"Yeah?"
"We have a winner!"

You actually think the announcement wont be until next year?
I honestly think it's a bit silly to actually think that Beth hasn't been working on this for years already. I think they are close to an announcement. Not a release, but just an announcement.
I expect Beth to have been working on TES:V ideas since the release of OB. If they haven't, that means they are less of a company than I had hoped. But I still think that highly about them.

Fallout 3 took up development time, so Bethesda hasn't been spending all their time on TES V these past four years, but I also believe we will have an announcement this year. More than four years without an announcement is ridiculous. Daggerfall fans didn't wait that long for Morrowind, and they got spin-offs.

Fallout 3 took up dev time yeah, but not all dev time. They could easily have had a team of..2-5 people throwing around ideas for TES:V? Even while developing FO:3.
That's what I mean by "working on it since OB's release". 5 people throwing around ideas is still working on it.

It's still working on it, by not with a lot of effort.

But it's something. In two years, five people could have created a LOT of lore.

Full-time developers, even 5 of them, could create a whole game in 4 years. If TESV isn't SPECTACULAR after this long of a wait, I'll be quite pissed off.

But also, wasn't Oblivion's development started just as Morrowind was released, with some devs going to the expansions while the rest went to Oblivion?

Bethesda has a lot of employees now, so I believe they have the resources to split up the team enough to have a few working toward TESV while others were working with FO3.

If I remember correctly, I read an article that stated OB's very early concept development started before Morrowind was released.

Yes, that is what happened. There were clues about Oblivion's plot in Bloodmoon. I'm sure it will be spectacular. Bethesda hasn't disappointed me before.

Let's see, they now have more people and resources than they did between Morrowind and Oblivion. So if they do take four years between Fallout and TESV, that would mean significantly more material and man-hours over the same time period, which means sock-knocking good game.

Antibody made a comparison between people working on FO3 and TESIV. He found out exactly which ones quit, which ones still work for BGS, and found out who might still have been there working on TESV the whole time.

Somebody has no idea how much effort goes into making a modern top flight game, which we all hope TESV will be. To give you an idea Dragon Age: Origins, a game I know took 5 years+ to make, has 275 people listed as working on the game and that only includes the art, animation, design, production and programming disciplines. There is probably an equal number listed in non game making roles.

I am not saying TESV will require that many people but it will be close. Its nearly 30 years since a small team could make a top grade game.

I feel like a announcement is close, as in the next few months. and that's only an announcement, that could mean the game would be a year away or more. What do I base this on? Nothing other than it has been real quiet lately and wishful thinking.

I don't play many video games so it's just a waiting game for me.....and I hate waiting.

It's been nearly four months since anything has been posted....a quarter of a year. That's a long time without anything from Bethesda, even about their older games.

This is exactly the reason why they won't announce the game before they're 100% sure it WILL be spectacular. Even the announcement itself will be mind-blowing...

Do you happen to remember where I might find this? Just out of curiosity.

All it was was a document comparing the credits for Oblivion and Fallout 3, showing who had worked on Oblivion but not Fallout 3. There weren't that many people though, certainly not enough to make a game all by themselves.

"and find out what Todd Howard said was cut from Oblivion on page 87". That sounds interesting.

I'm pretty curious myself, I'll probably check my local bookstores in the coming days to see what was cut.
