Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 31

Post » Tue Sep 21, 2010 6:34 pm

Paying for Elder Scrolls 5? Thats odd. You would think Oblivion payed for Elder Scrolls 5...

Fallout 3 must have, too. Perhaps Bethesda is making TES V so great that not even the Bethesda record sales of Oblivion and Fallout 3 are enough to pay for TES V. :P

That might be a problem... If they actually couldn't pay for TES V with RECORD SALES from Fallout 3 and Oblivion, then this game might be a little bit of an over-hyped craze. Then again... It's Bethesda's own game. They're awesome... Right?

gotta love thread nazis.....

just curious, but does it bother some of you that badly that people accidentally post something in the wrong thread?

lolz.

YES...and I also reject the "accidental post in the wrong thread" excuse as well.

I find the paying for TES:V comment a bit peculiar. It sounds to me more like studio chest-beating than an accurate statement of the financial affairs at Zenimax.

Doom 4 will pay for TESV sounds to me like the same sort of metaphor as this will feed a family of five for a week.

I don't see any reason to take it literally.

Really it's been 4 years now. More than likely the whole ES series has been shelved in lieu of more marketable games.

Wow...your impeccable reasoning just proved us all wrong. If only your brilliance could have enlightened us 30 threads ago so we wouldn't have wasted so much time debating about the known facts of the next TES installment.

Chill Stain, the speculation barrel is a bit dry is all and i think people are resorting to silly comments to keep the thread going.

I'm chill B) Nah...I think people are just seeing the stalled thread as a vulnerable discussion and attempting to discredit it. If there's nothing to add to the thread, then it should just remain as is without progression. People are entitled to voice their opinion, and fresh ideas are welcomed, but ignorant, non-constructive posts such as the one above get very annoying.

The numerous quotes from Todd and Pete, the books, and trademarks prove there is an interest in continuing the series. Therefore, the appropriate discussion here revolves not around IF but WHEN.

"We aren’t talking about what we’re up to next on The Elder Scrolls or when you’ll be able to play another one. You’ll just have to wait and see. But our established franchises are clearly something we take very seriously."

My guess is that they have all had this line drummed into them until 'announcement day'.

Thank you for digging up that link. Yeah, that response is pretty much standard procedure. They denied TES:IV up to within a few weeks of the official announcement. It's their policy, so no surprises there.

You guys know how each bethesda owned IP has its own twitter account?
Notice how theres no elderscrolls twitter account.

Someone, however does own www.twitter.com/elderscrolls as the account has been made. I'd personally keep an eye on it for any activity. If the other bethesda games suddenly become followers or something, we'll know somethings up.

Thats just one of my many indicators for a tes v debut. The rest will remain a secret! :ninja:

nice catch, unfortunately it's probably just a fan... It never hurt to follow another account just in case, though! too bad we can't see when the damn thing was created...

Does Bethesda actually own these accounts?

i don't know if it is publisher owned or Dev owned, but if you go to the bethblog, you see a link to the games' official twitters. The elder scrolls twitter account may have just been registered, but it, along with a facebook page, are not on the blog... yet.

So what happens when there is an elderscrolls game. How will they acquire the url?

Thats it. http://twitter.com/elderscrolls5.

Beth loves dropping tiny little hints, and we always explode their meaning.
We have to be patient. If they rush the game it'll svck

It took them 5 years to make Oblivion, and 4 years to make Fallout 3. These games don't take 1-2 years to make, as they put in a LOT of stuff into the games. Just because they haven't mentioned any word of TES V yet does not mean they scrapped their original work for stuff they bought (i.e. Fallout franchise, id Software/Doom franchise, etc.).

That interview (at least for me) makes a TESV announcement seem even more likely.. Something about the way they say it. (We aren’t talking about what we’re up to next on The Elder Scrolls or when you’ll be able to play another one. You’ll just have to wait and see. But our established franchises are clearly something we take very seriously.)

Funny thing is, I actually know a guy that talks like that, this is a conversation I had with him earlier:

(We're talking about things that we would have wanted to see in the game)
Friend: You know dude, Beth should hire me, I have so many good ideas for the game!
Me: Dude, you know the forum I told you about, we have a suggestion thread with literally more than 30000 posts.
Friend: Yes, but did they ever say my ideas?!
Me: Let me make this more clear, there are more than 160 threads dedicated to suggestions, with more closing everyday because they posted outside the thread. :glare:
Friend: But my ideas rock, Beth would make so much more money if they hired me! :shifty:
Me:
Friend:

Its sad really :violin:

Pessimism is self-defeating. Leave it at the door, it's not helping.

I can see it being soon. Personally, just give me the book and I'll shut up for a few months to devour it.
