Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 32

Post » Tue Oct 26, 2010 11:07 pm

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1090035-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-164/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

Closed because of the Elephants...

And post limits.

You don't have to spread the blame around saying things about the post limits. We shouldn't have to cover for what those elephant bastards are doing!

Nope, now we're sitting in awkward silence waiting for something new to tear to shreds :)

Regarding people comparing Red Dead Redemption to Oblivion in the last thread... remember that Oblivion is 4 years older than RDR, so what do you expect? Of course it's going to do a lot of things better then Oblivion. I'm sure TES V will be just as good when it comes out, if not better.

Well said, and of course when TES V comes out will be available on the superior platform and it will be moddable.

2011?? Are you crazy... just need to know... KIDDING! We know so little :) The campaign needs to begin sooner than that because purchasing incentive is a late-blooming psychosis. You need to use the least amount of dollars first... that meaning a simple thing like an announcement on a website... it takes nothing to do that, and you start that 8 months before a release now (FYI the idea of an Alan Wake years-out release are gone).

This thread has made us all a little crazy :P

A launch campaign doesn't include an announcement though. I'm referring to the tv and film commercials, magazine ads, posters in game stores, and internet ads across sites like Gametrailers and Youtube. For big games this launch campaign is more expensive than the development. So 8 months prior is far too early, but a launch campaign starting late summer 2011 would not only tie in with a fall 2011 release, but also begins after revenue from New Vegas, Brink, Rage, and Hunted has provided Beth with more monies than they can shake a stick at. Monies to pump into an awesome TES:V launch campaign.

Of course, this is all assuming that TES:V will be published by Bethesda. They've come a long way since Oblivion though, so I think it's very likely. A lot of Modern Warfare 2 players think Activision made that game after all. That's how important publishing your own game can be.

So.... completely grasping at straws here but anyone seen the latest remark on the Bethblog regarding the member-created TESting you're knowledge? The last action on that thread dates back to the 8th of May, so they're trying to keep us interested in that way? I did notice these speculation threads have become rather quiet.

But that's forum made so I don't think it really counts, if it were an official contest of sorts then I'd say it has sufficient value to shred, but currently it stands on the same level as 'Beth allow a speculation thread for TES V'

I agree. I couldn't help but wonder though.
Another thing I noticed was that Bethesda is hiring a lot of designers, programmers and such. Preferably with experience of Geck and TES construction set. And they keep mentioning the "Next Generation Product" and "Next Generation Consoles".
See http://www.gamesas.com/eng/links/gamesas_jobs.html. I must admit I haven't checked their hiring page lately, so I don't know if these are the normal amount of jobs they have available. Anybody any ideas on that and how that may be related to TES V?

I know it's far-fetched, but I really want to get a grip on what the f* they're doing over there!!!! :stare:

"Next Generation Consoles"

To preempt any 'TESV 4 nextgen consoles!!1,' I don't think we should extrapolate too much on the "next generation consoles." As has been said, Sony and Microsoft are quite satisfied with the 360 and the PS3 at least for a while, as evidenced by there development of the motion controllers. Their reps have even said this explicitly in interviews. Next-gen consoles probably won't be coming out for at least a few more years (at the earliest). Likely to be several more years. So, TESV will likely be for the current-gen ones.

That is, unless of course Bethesda wants to wait on TESV for yet another four more years...

huh, well i wasn't expecting *that* to happen. i sent a note to Gstaff a couple days after i started the thread, i'm assuming that they put it up now cause they needed a new blog post. speaking from experience, its easier to put something like that up on a blog than sit down and write content (in beth's case, likely reading through a hundred game sites to find references to their games).

the phrasing of the jobs page is the same as its been for the last couple of years, so i wouldn't get my hopes up from that. although a new marketing manager could be a hint  also noting that these are all Rockville positions, where Oblivion was developed afaik (versus Hunt Valley, which was FO3 central at the same time)

Perhaps I wasn't reading the same thing, but nowhere did I find a description that mentioned "Next Generation Consoles" in their job postings. I believe you may be making an artificial connection that is unsupported from the available information. The places where it says "next generation product" are, by my reading, simply a more eloquent way of saying "future games".

The job listings for language specialists piqued my interest, though. I'm not sure what to make of it other than they have a need to translate a game...

Now that we know about Fallout: New Vegas, can we infer that Bethesda hasn't really thought about a new ES game seriously as of late?

Also: do you think Bethesda would have announced it if they decided to stop the ES series?

NV is not being made by Beth, and Beth has stated that they intend to produce more TES games.

Like Lady N said, Bethesda isn't making New Vegas. They're focusing on another project right now.

In agreement what was has already been said above...

In answer to your first question: No, there are many pieces of information that suggest they've not only thought about it but are developing an ES title.

In answer to your second question: Probably not. About the only way a developer would torpedo their most successful original IP would be when the company collapses.
