Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 33

Post » Wed Nov 24, 2010 11:43 am

All this hype in recent news articles is tantalizing, but really not much more substantial than the hopeful speculation occurring here. Keep in mind that all of these articles so far linked use the same Famitsu source, which is essentially just speculation.

Not really going to say anything revealing, but I'd like to note that I find it fascinating how Beth have been able to build so much hype without even mentioning TES, truly the masters of marketing.

http://abstract360.com/2010/06/elder-scrolls-v-to-be-announced-at-e3/ - An article.

Anyone know of this secret?!

Also regardless of what Pete Hines said. The Elder Scrolls is a big enough franchise now to have the next game announced at E3 and not get lost.

I want to believe it, since Bethesda has had a "secret" thing in the works for a while, but Pete said no new announcements at E3 explicitly a little while back. I'll wait and see.

I definitely hope that the secret thing is TESV, but if it is just a published game or a non-TES game then at least I can re-watch Nintendo's conference over and over.

Also, would the next GI be before or after E3? I never could figure out the timing of those.

OK here is the way I see it:

IF beth wasn't working on tes5, then they have let the hype go way out of control for this game, and they will have some very dissapointed / pissed off fans. All it would have taken was a post a year ago or so saying "forget about tes5 for a while " to end the hype.

BUT if it IS in the works, then all this excitement (33 threads of 200 posts each, 80 + comments on their blog) is exactly what they want.

SO since noone from beth has gently crushed our hopes and dreams yet, I think we will get the game in the next year or so... (fingers crossed)

I don't know about your timeline (maybe, it'd be nice) but I think on the whole you're right, if they very definitely were not doing it any time soon, they'd let us know, and they wouldn't have said otherwise when they were misquoted as saying so. So I think it is a thing, being worked on at some stage, but the whens are unknown just now.

Uhrrrrg, this E3 wait is now even harder now my hope is kindled hot.

They might not be ready?

It's possible, but we do know they are working on something.

And your signature depresses me so much. Just imagine if their "surprise" at E3 was a fallout 4 trailer. I think there would be people actively "boo"-ing at their thing.

Hopefully that "surprise" is legit, even though http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1094662-e3-2010/page__view__findpost__p__16003371

We'll just have to wait and see I guess. If they are announcing something at E3, it will almost definitely be during Microsoft's press conference, because that's where they'll get the most exposure.

Edit: Oh and yeah, if the MMO is announced people will go crazy. 97% of people will assume that Bethesda is making it, even though they aren't, and it will be a total PR nightmare. Like I've said before, they have to announce TES V first if they want to avoid that.

Bleh, pull a Nintendo if you don't want to out-and-out announce it. Just show a piece of concept art and say "yes it is happening, you'll see something maybe in x amount of time," like Big N did last E3 for the Zelda they are announcing this E3.

Hm... Well, Bethesda has been known to lie.

And yeah, I don't think E3 would be a good place to announce such a secret that Bethesda is openly denying any secrets MMO from a largely unknown developer- Zenimax Online. This secret, it it's true, must be TESV. By the way, which day is Microsoft's press conference?

Also, did anyone notice on the newest BethBlog entry about game development at BGS, that Ashley Cheng wrote at the end, "We hope you like the results."?

Monday June 14th 10:30 AM. Several sites should be hosting live feeds about the conferences - afaik one half of MS conference is dedicated to that Natal gimmick of theirs though.

I thought E3 was June 15-17?

Is Microsoft's press conference not an official part of E3?

You know, this secret could also be that Zenimax is buying another company.

No, Microsoft has an entire seperate event the Sunday before E3 (the 13th) dedicated to Natal. The 14th is their conference. Then E3 starts on the 15th.

It's definitely a part of E3, but it's just before E3 actually starts.

I'd prefer another game, Zenimax buying another company doesn't excite me nearly as much as a game announcement.

Once again, why would we trust the PR folks for Bethesda? It is their job to lie, stall, and be two faced. Its not a surprise if we know about it, so they're down playing it and saying they aren't do it, so when you DO see it IS a surprise.
