"Actually, I can also back up this claim. While booking my appointment with Bethesda, I was told 'We are not revealing the titles which will be available at the show as of yet but we promise you they should not be missed!' Fallout: New Vegas won't be the only hands-on preview I'll be returning with then, I suppose."

The question is, though, did he book his appointment with Bethesda before they revealed their E3 lineup the other day?

Yeah. That's a bit unclear.

I bet you five septims they'll announce it at PAX.

Just my hunch ... :)

That svcked when I saw the bethesda logo as a trailer start at PAX east, and it was the Oblivion trailer at a booth for some game design school.

It's definitely a part of E3, but it's just before E3 actually starts.

Then it could, in theory, be announced there since it's not at E3 proper, wordplay, etc. Maybe, anyway.

Ouch. Yeah.

I've just been asked the rationale for my hunch, and it's pretty simple: there's approx 5 years between each game, so if the next one comes out in October 2011 (five years from Oblivion - the Fall release for the holiday season), then they'd have to announce it approx a year before release, and PAX is in September.

Fuzzy bunneh logic.

Hmm. I can see how that might work. Is the exhibitor list for PAXPrime started yet?

In case anyone is confused, I merged a separate thread about the "no secret super duper special announcements from Bethesda" into this one, since it was already being discussed here. :)

And I like the fuzzy bunneh logic, and I hope it's true.

I'll hope, but not be too surprised or disappointed if it doesn't happen.

Yes let us hope they announce it soon.
I live in Holland and some of our major gamejournals criticize beth more and more.
They dont criticize them for not announcing TES V, but they say their are breaking down their own great reputation they build.

The games they develop are great and high standard...BUT they games they publish are crap, for instance Rogue Warrior and now theres even a Doom II for xbox live being published that is really crappy, the original is even better for our standards nowdays then the game they publish.

And do not take this as whining or stabbing beth in the back, but all i am saying they could really use a succes again besides FO...

Give us a game you develop of great standards.....

for instance TES V :whistling:

Well... How do you explain it being the #1 seller on Xbox Live Arcade?...

It would be great if it was announced at E3 but at the same time I have quite a number of games to keep me busy until TESV

This is actually quite simpel.

People see a titel: Doom.
What is doom???

Yes an old skool game that was brilliant back in the day. I played that game till my eyes popped out, as did most people, they loved Doom.

They see a titel called Doom, and Doom brings back memorie's!!!
Its a retro game, people get that game because the titel alone brings back that old feeling they had, with that was one of the best game ever, so they get it.

That is why people buy it, but most of them would prob and definatly get regrets!!!

You know as well as I do that sales do not equal quality. That's not to say that the "new Doom II" is rubbish; I have no idea. I was never a Doom guy, anyways. I'm nit picking.

I think I'm gonna be disappointed with E3 (as TESV won't be announced, I believe). My soul is prepared, and yet I'll still be disappointed. Hope is my nemesis.

snip

I see it as nothing bad. It's basically putting a classic game that many people have and have not experienced before on a platform many people use. There's no need to set up Dosbox on the PC and go through all that extra work. So, good for Xbox players.

And you better be pleased that it's selling well, because it's making Zenimax more money. And more money means better games for Bethesda Game Studios to create. That's why Bethesda Softworks has been publishing games.

Its the same game with a new campaign and HD menus, how can the original be better? Besides modding support that is..

And the standard of games has gone up only in the audio and graphical department.

My Penance:
So for those who care about such things, I spoke with a quite bland gentleman after navigating through an auto-attendant, and asked the following:

"Can a company satisfy the requirement to file for a statement of use without actually selling a product?" I referenced the Skyrim trademarks specifically so that the answer would be clear.

His answer:
"All you need to do is prove that you have advertised the product in more than one state to prove a statement of use."

Me:
"So if they announced the game and said it would be for sale in all 50 states, this would satisfy the requirement?"

Bland man:
"Absolutely. We don't ask for sales receipts."

That is all.

Well done! Thanx a bunch!!! :goodjob:
So the hunt is on for any kind of advertisemant now !!!!

wow..... come to think of it...... that's actually a lot harder then just checking a few trademarks.
Needle and haystack kind of thing 'cause If I understand you correctly they only have to advertise in more than one state. That doesn't really have to be The Big Announcement then?

Thanks for clearing up that HUGE hole. Now we KNOW that it can be announced just fine. I agree with Antibody; its definitely got a larger chance to be seen now.

To my understanding, Softworks publishes and BGS makes games :)
