Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 33

Post » Wed Nov 24, 2010 2:14 am

i was so upset by that fake post come on now

Its actually, "Hey! Come on now!"

Thats what the guards in Oblivion say if you are shooting them with arrows continuously while running backwards, while they try to catch up to you to say, "Stop! You violated the law!"

Anyways, I'm very not surprised that TESV isn't featured in Bethesda's E3 lineup. Pete Hines himself suggested that E3 isn't that good of a place to announce games.

I think they are going to announce it sometimes over summer, with a showing off at QuakeCon.

By the way, when is the last possible date they can announce it before the trademark expires?

I left my comment

The later they announce tesV the more time they’ll have to work on it w/o being pestered with “is it done yet?” “How about now?”

Its good to let them know what we want, but we also want them to take their time on it and not rush it out like they did OB

It's been over 4 years since they released Oblivion, I think they've had plenty of time.

Sometime at the very end of July.

But they havnt been working on it for four years, instead they've been doing things like RAGE and some of the other random games TES fans dont bother with (lol.) Besides they said they were redoing the engine which would make the development of the game take even longer than a normal release.

The only game they've worked on since Oblivion was Fallout 3. No other games. Every game they've come out with since then besides Fallout 3 has been published, not developed, so they've had plenty of time, assuming they did start it after Oblivion.

Ohhh ok. Well, four years doesnt seem long enough to revamp an engine and make enough progress for an announcement still. Im just trying to keep hope that they arnt going to rush this release.

Well, quick google search tells me it took four years to make oblivion. Idk, they'll announce it when they do, arnt they making some sort of MMO though? They arnt just sitting on their thumbs not telling us anything are they? IGN says there will be a FO MMO...

Okay. There's Bethesda Game Studios. This is the one that made ES1, 2, 3, 4, and soon 5, and Fallout 3. Zenimax Online is making MMOs. BGS does not make MMOs.

Zenimax Media is the parent company that owns Bethesda Game Studios, Zenimax Online, and Bethesda Softworks (publishes other games like FO:NV, Rage, Wet, Rogue Warrior, etc.).

Zenimax owns Bethesda, but it's Interplay that's making the Fallout MMO. Zenimax Online is making an unannounced MMO.

Oblivion didn't take 4 years to make, it took a little less. http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/1795/timeline11.png If Bethesda started making TES V right after Oblivion, they've had longer to make it than any other game they've ever made. I think they've had plenty of time.

Ok, I think I got it now thanks :), still, its not like there wont be a TES:V, too many people want it they would be fools not to make it, they'll announce it when they do, which I would guess would be in a year or two. Thats my uneducated ignorant guess xD.

The way I see it, is that Bethesda doesn't want to take as long as to announce games anymore. It was about 2 years and 5 months between Morrowind's release and Oblivion's announcement. It was 1 year and 2 months between Oblivion's release and Fallout 3's official announcement. Right now, it's about 1 year and 8 months between Fallout 3's release and now. And they have more developers than they did when they began developing Oblivion, keep that in mind. And more money too. They've been revamping many basic parts of the engine for ESV, but it's not going to take 2 years and 5 months to announce ESV after FO3's release.

Hmm, I donno. TES is Beths masterpiece and a reasonable thought is that the next addition realy has to be state of the art. More time has surly been used at upgrading the engine, better voice acting, better physics ect than between Oblivion and FO3
Where there was a huuuge difference between MW and Oblivion, but you cant say the same about OB vs FO3
In short: I think it'll take some more time

Why not? You know what they are doing, they are probably watch the grid on oblivion sales, when it reaches a certain low point, announce TES:V, it'll boost sales for oblivion.

Since it is almost 7pm EST, I call defeat :) There was only about a 1 in a billion chance I would nail it anyway :) SO... I will call the trademark people tomorrow and get some clarity on our question, as my penance :)

Bethesda makes mad money from the games they will publish which is Fallout New Vegas and BRiNK come this fall. The release or targets of these dates are to increase the cash flow so they don't go broke. :P

Oddly enough, I read in an interview from id that the good thing about Bethesda is that they give them as much time as they need. So RAGE will be done when its good and ready.

If anything, the TES novel, the infernal city would be a tool to boost sales.

At the moment, DOOM II (XBOX arcade) and Fallout 3 (GOTY) are probably the only things bringing in the dough right now.

Oh yeah..and IHRA drag racing.

Well, seeing as Todd Howard wanted another game on the current generation consoles, I doubt it's going to take another year to announce the game. Also note that Fallout 3 sold even better than Oblivion did, and the time between release and announce was much shorter.

http://abstract360.com/2010/06/elder-scrolls-v-to-be-announced-at-e3/ - An article.

. One thing that stands out is Bethesda, who listed “secret” under their surprise category, and with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion having been released March 20, 2006, the next installment in the franchise is overdue at just over four years since the last game.

Anyone know of this secret?!

That is quite tantalizing. What is Famitsu anyway? Some kind of magazine I guess?

And is there some kind of paper that shows the list of companies who have surprises? How did Famitsu get such a list?

Hm. Are there any other secrets Bethesda could reveal besides ESV?

After doing some googling, yes its a magazine.

EDIT @ your EDIT: I don't know how they acquired this list. Perhaps from Bethesda foreign offices. I'm not sure, i'll start digging

Yeah, because if this list is legit, then I'll be moreso hyped than I already am at this news.

http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=125551 hyping nintendo e3 surprises, but also mentions bethesda's secret surprise. They're also citing Famitsu.

The magazine is quite popular in japan, circulating about 500,000 copies weekly. Why they would fake a whole list of e3 surprises boggles my mind.

TES V at E3 it is. :D
