I posted this in the New Vegas forum but I figure I might as well post it here too as it has to do with TES V development:
Does anyone see any holes in my theory? Of course the theory will have to be adjusted if they don't announce TES V this year, or if they started working on TES V later than 2006, or if they're not working on TES V at all and are instead working on the much anticipated Where's Waldo 2: The Striped Shirt Conspiracy. I don't want each Bethesda game to take 5-6 years to be released but from everything I've seen that seems like that's how it's going to be for TES V and Fallout 4 at least.
Wow, that's really interesting. I had no idea the Fallout guys were speculating on Fallout 4 already. This raises an interesting question though: Now that Bethesda Game Studios have two big IPs with huge fanbases and critical acclaim (TES and FO), and seeing as they've become such a hugely successful company and are expanding into publishing, will it be necessary for a second team to be created, with Todd Howard elevated to a creative director position to oversee the creations of both teams (similar to Molyneux of Lionhead)? 6+ years between each game per series, perhaps even more as graphical and tech demands increase into the next console gen, might be just too long. Not to mention the improved revenue if a second team can ensure a new game for both Fallout and TES every 4 years, perhaps staggered for a release every two years.
Just a thought, but what do you think?
So they're basically creating the game, but not telling us?
Exactly. They're not the only guys doing this though. Kingdom Hearts 3 might
finally be announced at E3 this year. It's definitely been in production for a while though, just like TES:V.
The thing that confused me the most was their announcement for 2010.
I imagine this was when production had only recently begun on the game, and it was an offhand comment by Oughton. I'm sure he got a slap on the wrist for it, though the game was so far from a release that it wouldn't have mattered too much.
yeah I screwed up. But can I say I speculate that they will have romance in Skyrim?
They'd better not implement it as well as Bioware did with ME2. I was on the verge of breaking up with my gf over Tali. "
I'm sorry, i've met someone else." I'm sure that week of solid play didn't help the dissertation I was supposed to be writing at the time either...
