If there is a Talos, TES V will be announced at this year's E3.

Bethesda is listed as "secret" under surprises for E3, meaning they have a secret surprise.

Would listing themselves under surprises as "Surprise" be the same thing? I'm pretty sure a surprise is supposed to be secret by default. :)

Is this "listing" something published by E3 or is this just unique to Famitsu like a simple questionaire? To say that "Bethesda is listed as 'secret' under surprises for E3" is a very strong statement and potentially misleading.

They have a secret surprise? Why would they let us know ahead of time? Bethesda announcing TES V at E3 would start my summer vacation off with a blast.

Case in point right here. I think this terminology may be unique to Famitsu.

Futurama returning to the air should have already done that for you. :D

So is this "secret" just only been reported by one news site, or is it confirmed?

Futurama's back? Thank you for that information.

If it's confirmed, then it's time to celebrate.

New episodes air on Comedy Central on June 24th.

As for the "secret", it seems (to me) to just be Famitsu reporting this, or am I incorrect?

Guys just for the record, we really don't know much about this whole 'Beth has a secret' thing, we know that Famitsu are the only ones to actually say this and that every other source is feeding off their words. Presumably these guys are a well known magazine in Japan therefore have no reason to lie (Yes Pete I'm looking at you :stare: ) What I remember reading yesterday I think was that these people asked each of the guys they listed what 'surprises' they had for E3, it wasn't official therefore it may not be as credible as we may want it to be.

Personally, I'm not too sure what to make of all of this, the whole world suddenly chanting TES: V, the Famitsu magazine revealing Beth having a 'secret surprise', I can honestly say I can't make heads or tails of this mess

There is something in the air I think, because Bethesda don't contradict any of these informations/speculations, even speculations "secret thing = TESV"

Nah, they never contradict any wild mass guessing. Its part of the whole 'never confirm or deny anything until we're ready to move forward with an announcment on our terms' routine.

They seem to have exceptional company discipline, leaks, to my knowledge have historically been quite rare.

Maybe im wrong, but I disagree. Bethesda is very sensitive about speculations that are placed beyond Bethesda Softworks Forums, good example is last year speculation where devs had to explain http://www.gamesas.com/?showtopic=1029880&st=0&gopid=14913052&#entry14913052. So, I think this is an element of hyping, where Bethesda allow to suggest game sites that secret title is TESV, its free advert, it's making some noise and its in line with expectations.

I suppose this is an indirect but clear enough response by Bethesda to all those fans who want to see TES V in E3 2010.

http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/06/03/about-game-development-broken-windows/

I've read in an article that Bethesda Game Studios has proved to be one of the most successful business models for the reason that instead of saturating the gaming industry with short adventures every year like many other companies do they prefer to release a huge and ridiculously detailed game every few years. I couldn't agree more with that and I hope they stick to this model because no other developer's games have given me hundreds of hours of gameplay and such a good value for my money. It's been only 8 months since they finished with Fallout 3 so perhaps it's a bit unrealistic to expect them to showcase their next big game so soon. I would be happy if they announced the game some time between late 2010 and early 2011 showed it at next year's E3 and released it some time between late 2011 and early 2012 which sounds more like Bethesda to me.

No, that was a disasterous firestorm of misinformation which left the entire fanbase agape at the idea that the series was no longer an area of interest for the company because of a mis-statement/mis-hearing between a company man and the games press. That is a situation that needed damage control and was at least partly their own fault.

The wild speculation of fans about announcment dates is not a similar situation at all.

This time they've said nothing out of the ordinary, and if people are taking it to mean something it may not have been intended to, the result will be that the fans are going to have to keep waiting, not a mass panic as with the case you cited.

I only believe that information about a 'secret game' in Famitsu and don't denying it by Bethesda 10 days before E3 is not coincidence.

That may be one of the most intelligent things I have heard amongst the raving fans wanting TES V "NAAAOOOOO" think about the games you play that are made every once in a while, think about how long it took to develop them, think about the years it takes to make a TES game and think about the people that still play the earliest of those games today. TES is definitely worth the wait when compared to some other great, but not legendary games.

I know no one likes a re-post, but I think people are getting riled up because they think Bethesda told Famitsu they had a surprise for E3... but:

"When the magazine asked if each publisher will have a surprise for E3, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Koei Tecmo, Konami, Sega and Square Enix all said yes while Bandai Namco and Bethesda chose to keep their plans secret."

http://www.examiner....-their-E3-plans

Though I could not locate this on Famitsu's website, it might have simply only appeared in the printed edition... it reads a bit less likely that they said they had a "secret" rather than that whether they had a surprise or not, they would rather not share...

They just DIDN'T ANSWER THE QUESTION.... which could very well mean nothing at all... and I am a very hopeful person, as you can well imagine :)

I agree. I'm somewhat disgusted with Famitsu for baiting their article by misconstruing that Bethesda had some sort of "secret" to share rather than just saying they didn't answer the question. This response from Bethesda is very typical and not at all extraordinary.

Well, If there isn't a SECRET thing that Bethesda is announcing, Why are they not denying it ? Shouldn't they just deny it directly ? Why wait and let the fans suffer.

Everyone knows that they are developing something secret, with chances pointing towards a TES game, but there is no reason for them to announce at E3. The amount of unnecessary hype is typical for Beth, people get their hopes up, and in the end are crushed. I'm not saying that there is no chance for an announcement, but that there is no reason for an announcement. They have until the trademark deadline to announce, and that is still a bit after E3. People seem to be forgetting in the midst of the hype that there is a trademark deadline, not an E3 deadline.

Well, in a way they are indirectly denying it by saying they've announced all their plans for E3. Announcing that they aren't showing TES:V at E3 would be a confirmation of it. So rather than implying its existence, they'd prefer to be completely mum on the issue.

Well, based on the dream I had last night, we will get TES V announced at E3. In fact, it will be announced by Shigero Miyamoto (however you spell it) who walks into a room wearing a shirt labelled 'Elder Scrolls.' Yes, I've had more than one dream about TESV. Sad, I know.
