Official TES V Speculation Thread

Oh, and something with more colour.

I'm having difficulty wrapping my mind around this, because snow normally has a distinct lack of color - unless you're in to the yellow variety! :P Winter here in the states usually paints a drab two-tone landscape. How is there more color?

I believe an E3 announcement could be a possibility, but I do not maintain high hopes.

He means he wants a location with more colour, and thinks Skyrim won't provide. Oblivion was pretty colourful, how about playing that? :P

Skyrim won't be purely forest! The same way it won't be purely snow and mountains! If you're saying such things, it proves you really don't know much at all about geography and the world's biomes. "The northern hemisphere? That's all snow and mountains right?" No! Of course not! That's like saying Britain is all grass and fields, America is all desert and rocks, and Australia is covered in Sydney Opera Houses. If you want to know what to expect in Skyrim, spend a few minutes reading about tundra and boreal forests on Wikipedia, and then combine all that with fantasy and Norse mythology.

Do you have a source for that?

There are rumors of a new slim version of the Xbox 360 but there aren't credible rumors of a brand new console.

Dude...lay off the Skyrim promotion. You like it. We get it. Please stop polluting the thread with this off-topic discussion, or start another thread stating why Skyrim is not just snow.

And just so you know, I agree with you that it wouldn't be Solstheim revisited and could be quite diverse. I'm not arguing against you...never have.

Most of my favorite maps in video games are Ice or snow covered. I know that winter scenery can be just as beautiful as summer or fall. However, id'e like to take a break from forests for awhile, just a change of pace. Oh, and something with more colour.

How about an Elder Scrolls game that takes place in the Shivering Isles(Why does everyone forget about the Shivering Isles? They are a part of Oblivion and they are the perfect break from Cyrodiil's terrain.)? :P

It can be expanded or changed. The new Sheogorath might change the realm a bit over 200 years.

How about some other daedric relm, any ideas of a place to visit.

Or are the relms of red and ents the only places inhabitable by humans.

Azura's realm could makefor an interesting game, I think.

Most of the Deadric realms are either wastelands, death traps, tourney grounds, or libraries; so, a Daedric realm based game could only realistically take place in Azura's realm (which is supposed to be beautiful), or the Shivering isles. Or Molag Bal's realm (We all get rapped, also, entirely gray and oppressed).

EDIT: Looked it up on UESP wiki, it's called Moonshadow

The Elder Scrolls V: Moonshadow

I actually like that name.

I was thinking about Moonshadow. The only problems with Moonshadow is that it is supposed to be one giant rose garden that makes mortal blind because it is so beautiful. Considering that, the Shivering Isles still seems like the only Daedric realm that would make a nice-looking and sensible setting. Moonshadow could work, assuming that makes mortals blind thing is an exaggeration and assuming Moonshadow turns out to be more than just one giant rose garden. Anyway, with a few changes, Moonshadow would be a great setting. I also like the TES V: Moonshadow. Also, Azura is one of the few Daedric Princes that can be considered morally "good". I think Moonshadow could work very well and still be a place for noble characters to be in(The main quest of the Shivering Isles was great, just not for noble characters). Azura is my favorite Daedric Prince and the only one that I consider to be trustworthy. This could work, but we pretty much know TES V will take place in Skyrim. Perhaps Bethesda could have an expansion for TES V take place in Moonshadow, or has even Bethesda decided to stop making expansions and join those other money-stealing game companies in making small, bite-sized DLC not worthy of being used as doormats?

Moonshadow, hmm.

Also (according to what was on the UESP) I think Azura is the least likely to punch you in the face, but she would still send you into a cave full of deathtraps and say it was "a test". She is the most sublte of all the daedra, as to be liked by many.

It would be a fun place to see her, with her cards scattered on the floor.

I like Azura as much as the next guy but she was focused on so much in Morrowind and Tribunal. Bethesda should focus on lesser known Daedra for their DLCs, like they did with Jyggalag in Shivering Isles.

Same here. I'd like to learn more about some of the other princes, but I would further add that it wouldn't necessarily require going to that prince's realm. We've been there several times over already in the series, so it would be nice to have deadric princes involved in another way.

I'd rather they not cheapen daedric realms any further by constantly letting us wander there. Crossing into Oblivion is supposed to be incredibly difficult, something done by only a tiny handful of the most powerful mages who ever lived. We've suddenly been there twice now, we don't need to wander in a third time like someone left the door open.

Moonshadow, or anywhere else, is not going to be an inherently interesting or fun place. Whether the landscape is interesting depends entirely on how well Bethesda builds it, and frankly I wasn't really pleased with the Deadlands or the Madhouse. Daedric realms are supposed to be alien and bizarre, sometimes requiring magical assistance to travel or even survive there, whose descriptions are mainly how their rare visitors could best describe them in mortal terms. What we got were basically Earth biomes with unusual plant life or architecture. I don't want to go to Moonshadow if it's going to be just like Tamriel with constant twilight and pretty flowers.

You're right, how selfish of me. Let's talk about all the things you want to discuss.

/Ace Ventura

Seriously though, it's a common recurring subject, and something newer members or less frequent visitors need to be aware of. If you're on this thread daily, you'll notice trends like these repeating themselves.

On-topic, the platinum edition of Oblivion for the 360 is just like the platinum games on PS3. It's a 'best-seller', so gets special packaging and a fixed low price. There's no new content, and it's not a Bethesda-based re-release. It also seems unique to the USA... can't see any trace of it being available for preorder in the UK online game stores...

One thing that makes me think they are going to do something soon is the fact that they are being very active on the forums lately. Few months ago, for a WHILE, you saw no red names at the bottoms of these forums, just white and green. Now, I see 5+ a day. That's not normal, so it leads me to believe that they are planning something.

I'm quite disappointed in Bethesda right now, because they missed The Elder Scrolls Birthday.... That's like if my family were to forget my birthday, not very nice Bethesda not very nice at all. The Elder Scrolls is now 16 years old (has been for the last week actually) for those of you who care :)

But on a more serious note I do think/hope they'll release some information soon. If they don't I might have to start modding Oblivion again to give myself a much needed Elder Scrolls fix.
