Official TES V Speculation Thread

Post » Fri Apr 23, 2010 10:30 am

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1065099. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

Fallout New Vegas isn't coming out until this Fall.

Easily puts Elder Scrolls speculation into at least next Spring. They could throw out names now, start over and still have plenty of time since we're likely still at least a year out for a new Elder Scrolls. Based on their stated timing for Fallout stuff, I'd say Fall of 2011 is probably a likely release date.

New Vegas isn't being dev'd by Bethesda, just produced if i remember correctly

StevieC, F: New Vegas has nothing to do with Bethesda in the field of development. It's Obsidian ent. who's signed to do it.

DUDE!! Even that would't matter, Bethesda has seperate teams, each works on its own game.:P

Of course that does't count obsidian though.

You should really stop posting.

Anyway, New Vegas has nothing to do with Beth as far as development goes.

It doesn't matter if Obsidian developes the game. Bethesda still publishes it and would not want it to compete with another rpg of their own.

It's coming out in Fall 2010, and it's almost guaranteed that TES V wont be coming out in the fall, regardless of New Vegas. They haven't even announced TES V yet, so they certainly aren't going to release it in only a few months.

If and when they announce it this year, and they don't show it at this years E3, the earliest date they'll release it is Fall 2011, because they still have to show it at at least one E3. And it will only come out in Fall 2011 if it isn't delayed. If it is delayed, then it could come out any time during 2012.

Are you making completely absurd posts on purpose? People have tried being civil with you but you keep saying stuff that makes absolutely no sense. Anyway:

-New Vegas is not a DLC, it's a full game.
-Fallout 3 DLC stopped being made in August 2009.
-Skyrim has the potential to be just as great as any other province, to say otherwise shows a lack of faith in Bethesda.

Who ported Fallout 3's DLC to the ps3? They did a horrible job at it, but was it Bethesda or did some other company do that?

twas Bethesda but lets get back on topic. I believe the only two ways we will see an announcement is e3 or Gameinformer magazine. I don't see Bethesda announcing any other way most likely.

Bethesda may have finished making DLC in August of 2009, but all of Bethesda's DLC wasn't available for ps3 players until October. Could porting that DLC have taken more than handful of people from Bethesda, perhaps preventing full development of TES V to begin until October of 2009?

TES team would have nothing to do with the DLC of Fallout 3, be it through the Microsoft or the Sony. it seems like the conversion would have only taken a short time (if they didn't have it finished the the 360 version was, which is possible), did it say anywhere that the port had to be built from the ground up?

TES team is the same team responsible for Fallout 3. Bethesda doesn't have multiple teams.

Bethesda has one team. After most of Oblivion had been finished, part of that one team began planning Fallout 3 while the rest of that team finished up Oblivion. When I mentioned full development, I was referring to when all of that one team was working on one project. There is only one team at Bethesda, but not everyone on that team is needed at every stage of development in every game. Have you been wondering why TES V hasn't been announced yet when it should have been released? It's because TES team was mainly working on Fallout 3 for two of these past four years instead of TES V.

:foodndrink: sorry for the mix up, just thought it was them taking their time on the new game and not wanting to announce it. But still, i would think the porting process wouldn't take too long.

I doubt it, but even if it did it would only take a month or two. My point was that Bethesda long ago stopped working on Fallout 3 and it's DLCs.

I'm kind of curious to see what happens with this TM... if it expires, doesn't it basically suggest there hasn't been much, if any, progress on a new game?

--edit-- unless they chose another realm to use other than skyrim, which seems unlikely at this point

Well like I said before, they must be ready to use it. They renewed it as recently as January. If Bethesda was going to let it expire, they would have let it expire in January, and not wasted the money on renewing it just to let it expire in July. And if they were going to use another name, they would have filed a new trademark and let this one expire, which they didn't do. If they don't announce it and let it expire in July, something big must have happened between January and July that they weren't anticipating before January.

re-reading the game engine update quote, could skyrim be a name for the new modified engine? Or is that outside of the trademark scope? After all, a video game engine is video game related, manuals are important, and clothing paraphernalia is cheap.

I don't think they can rename Gamebryo to Skyrim. Anyway, even if they could it's highly unlikely.

Rodger.

It would just be a slap in the face if it happened, especially after this whole thread.
And I like my face.
