Official TES V Speculation Thread #35

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 7:28 pm

He's free to cry with me. Anyone else want to cry with me in case there really is no surprise at E3? We could start a cry club! :D

I like getting excited for the possibility, it is more fun than bad... since I really am sure I will be playing TESV at some point, there is a fun little game in the excitement/speculation... even if there is a let down. The good thing though is that I am a big gamer anyway and this will be an all around wonderful E3 for me. I am taking next week off as my vacation from work, partly to hike and camp, but mainly because I will have internet access and streaming E3 coverage :P hahahaa... yeah I planned my vacation around E3, don't judge :)

You mean the game released by Christmas? Yeah... That's not going to happen. There's at least over a year for Bethesda's games to be released after they're announced.

Does anyone remember the scan of the Advance reviewers copy of The Infernal City that went around? The one that had details about TES V. I hate to bring it up again but that is some pretty damning evidence that it is at the very least being worked on.

Still got it on my computer Rockhead27.

Okay, I'm sure everyone already knows this, but I want to say it explicitly.

There is not one shred of evidence that TESV will be announced, previewed, or even mentioned at E3.

Bethesda has already produced a list of games they are showcasing, and they've said that that's it.

The only reason people hold out hope TESV will be announced at E3 is because, according to Famitsu, when asked if they were going to have any surprises at E3, Bethesda apparently said it was a "secret."

As has already been shown, this could easily mean Bethesda refrained from answering.

And even if Bethesda does have some secret planned, it may have nothing to do with TESV. It could be anything: a new video or a playable demo of one of the games they've already committed to showing, for example.

To repeat, there is no evidence at all that TESV will even be mentioned at E3.

Stop it. Just stop.

So monday night this forum will be holding its breath.

So if Bethesda doesn't announce ESV does this forum suffocate?

My good sir, this is a thread for speculation.

Now I don't mind people saying that something won't happen or isn't true, because that in itself is speculation, but stopping? Naw, we're here for crap pot theories.

Will TES V be at E3? Maybe. Maybe not. Some sources mention that there might be a chance, while others have said nothing. Right now, there is little more to do than sit and wait.

Heehee, you may have missed the topic of this thread... we don't have any shred of evidence that they are even making the game... so if evidence is the requirement of speculation, then the mods need to close this thread.... buuuuut I think this is all about wild and crazy ***barely a shot in the dark*** speculation, right alongside the well grounded and thought-out and researched reasonable speculation. I love them both differently, but both are fine :)

Why would Bethesda put down "secret" and not "No" to the question of a surprise?

Just something to think about.

Maybe, but they aren't actually showing any of their in-house games. Not to say that they must, or that they'll have an announcement at E3. That said, if people really think it will be announced this year and released in 2011, TES V is probably demo-quality already.

It is not just because of the stupid famitsu article, it is E3. We know they are working on something and it seems logical to announce it at E3. E3 is the biggest event of the year for video game news and anything is possible. It is not out of the realm of possibility for it to be announced. We're having fun speculating and hoping for an announcement, that is why it is called the official speculation thread.

Okay, I really want to avoid ending up in this same argument in a second time. So listen up.

I have absolutely no problem with speculation. I wouldn't be reading this thread if I was against speculation.

However, I would prefer if our speculation was based on evidence, and right now there is no evidence that TESV will be announced at E3.

Mind you, by evidence I don't mean proof. By evidence I mean known facts which, given our lack of knowledge, make something else more reasonable to believe.

We do have evidence that Bethesda is working on TESV. Todd Howard said they were going to make another TES. The (now redacted) Infernal City blurb mentioned TESV. The Skyrim trademark etc. These things, and others, constitute evidence that TESV is being worked on.

We don't have anything like that for an E3 TESV announcement. All we have is wishful thinking and a "secret" surprise that's been denied by both Todd Howard and GStaff.

Yes, you can speculate on a possible E3 announcement if you want, but it just isn't productive to do it, and it's potentially misleading to anyone who isn't keeping up with things.

There shouldn't be any facts on whether it is going to be announced at E3, that is why it would be a surprise. The fact that we know they are working on it, an announcement is long over due, and E3 is a very good place to announce a new game and make a big splash should be reason enough. Bethesda is a premier developer, Since fallout released they have not released a shred of information on their next title, it has to happen sometime and what better place to do it. The entire video game community is watching.

So disregarding factual speculation, who is hoping for a TES V announcement on Monday?
:batman: for yes (my vote)
:sb: for no

So if Bethesda doesn't announce ESV does this forum suffocate?

Not necessarily, if we play the cards right a couple of people could hold their breath collectively. Trouble is we need a new person for each time slot; no repeat breaths, you see.

I'll start it off for the first 2 seconds.

You can only hold your breath for two seconds? Thats weak! :P

I just timed myself, and I could hold my breath for like a minute forty before I started choking.

Id say even if TES V doesnt get released at E3, it has to get released sooner or later, its one of the top games of all time, and in my mind, the best. so why wouldnt they make a sequel. so im not really worried about if its coming out, just when its coming out. although sooner rather than later...thanks beth

No, I don't think I will. Obviously you haven't been paying attention to the last 35 topics, or the "When and If we get TESV" series that precedes this, and for that, I don't blame you, and envy you a bit.

However, you are suggesting that we only speculate based on evidence. I'm going to tell you now that there is NONE. We will grasp at the air and think wishfully to our hearts' content. I don't care if Pete Hines knocks on my door and tells me that TES:V will not be announced this year, but I will not believe him, because I choose to Speculate, hence the topic's name. Though I think it would be cool if Pete Hines showed up at my door.

I've been reading these threads regularly for a while now.

Yes, there is evidence for TESV. I listed some of it in my last post.

People can speculate about whatever they want, whether there's any evidence or not. But we're not really getting anywhere unless we speculate where there's evidence - the trademark being the best example.

See, with the trademark we know that Beth has taken the effort to file for a trademark on Skyrim. Seeing that Skyrim is a province of Tamriel, it would make sense that the trademark was connected to an ES game. Is that proof? Of course not. But it's evidence.

You can speculate without evidence if you want, but when you do you're really just making things up.

Sorry, I had to. The name was too tempting to not make a joke. :P

I'm speculating that TES V will be out tonight and that Pete Hines himself with man-candy Attrebus at his side will deliver a personal copy of TES V, diamond encrusted with gold inlays, to my house.

Mine will have "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" written all in diamonds.
