So evidence doesn't do it then? Despite the fact that so many independent market anolysts, executives from the console companies themselves all say that the next generation of consoles won't come out for at least few more years, they must all be lying or be wrong because you don't think the systems are powerful enough.
Seriously, the next-gen consoles won't be coming out for quite some time because most everybody is fine with the current ones. Look at the comments on the link I provided to you in my previous posts. The comments with the most thumbs up are the ones saying that they are perfectly fine with this generation of consoles.
If I google for XBox 720 I can find just as many rumors and 'evidence' from marketing anolysts, company employees etc about it coming out in 2011 or even 2010 (which of course won't happen) as I can find rumors about it coming out in 10 years (which also won't happen). At least a few more years? Sorry, but I don't and can't believe that. PCs are much, much more powerful than XBox 360 already, in five years the XBox would look like an Atari VCS 2600 compared to a PC. Then there is also the competition between Sony and Microsoft. They can't allow themselves to sit back and be happy with what they have, just like any other hardware developer can't do that. If Sony releases a PS4 while Microsoft says they're still happy with their XBox for the next few year they would be out of business.
Naturally people don't want to spend money. People also don't like change. But if there is something new and shiny they go and buy it. Do you think the world was waiting for something like the iPad? It has a touch screen and it looks stylish, but other than that it's just a netbook like any other netbook. People could have easily lived without it, but now Apple sells millions of iPads. If Microsoft announced XBox 720 and had some fantastic games and features to show people would get excited about it and quickly forget about their 360's.
And like I already said, I don't think that NOW is the time for a new XBox. But I could very well imagine that christmas 2011 for example would be a good time. And that wouldn't be too long for a new Elder Scrolls title. Bethesda always announced titles at least 1.5 years before they came out as far as I can see. So if they announced TES 5 in fall 2010 for example they could release it in spring 2012.
But if you are right and I am wrong then Bethesda probably has no chance but to develop the next Elder Scrolls title for the 360. If it really takes 5 more years before a new console generation will be out they certainly don't want to wait that long. I can't imagine though that they will be able to do anything that is much better than FO3 with Gamebryo on that hardware. We will see.
