They have a massive T-Rex from Fallout New Vegas actually sitting at the booth with jaws that look about 6 feet or so, and I'll bet the "Eat all other booths for breakfast" is a near literal description...

I haven't heard about the physical aspect of Beth's booth, but a huge T-Rex.... Good way to get people's attention I guess. :celebration:

The only problem with that is the fact that G4 has been announced, scheduled, rescheduled and talked to death on their official forum (which I follow) It's no longer real news, even for fans.

The Gametrailers show on Spike comes on (at least for central time) at 10 PM tonight. Isn't that the same one that is showing Microsoft's pre-E3 press conference?

Watch for TES V, although I'm sure we won't see it.

See? That's what I mean. It's been so well covered that it seems like it's already over. The newest release date is Oct. 2010 IIRC.

I seen the previews for Gothic 4 already and it looks just as bad as Gothic 3. No news there.

Probably worse. Actually, G3 with the latest community patch is a pretty good game IMHO, nothing like the way it was released.

Isn't all this being unveiled as we speak? Is there a live streaming or something? I don't want to have to actually watch TV...

I just saw that the one big booth had all the published games... so that little booth that they have set aside wasn't shown at all and it didn't have FONV in it... hmm maybe they do have a surprise afterall.... What else could be in there if their entire line-up was already in the big booth?

Perhaps it is! GameTrailers just mentioned something about Bethesda's booth breaking records, over thirty feet high or something... must be the Dino... still no mention of the second booth, but if Lady is right, it isn't a surprise game.

I dont post much here, but I read a lot here...some of you seem to know how to do your homework...I have some very basic questions

Is there a chance that TESV isnt even in production AT ALL right now? and this being the reason Bethesda wont talk about it?

Is it possible the next ES game coming out IS the MMO and there is no actual plans for a good old TESV single player?

My biggest fear in gaming right now is that TESV isnt being worked on or looked at because they are busy with the MMO and that is now their main focus...I hopefully want someone to tell me that is BS...I despise the way multiplayer is seeming to lower the overall quality of gaming these days...and ruining the single player experience which is what I play games for.

Interviews with Bethesda have generally revealed that they take the idea of a TES MMO as an idle fancy at best (or worst). They've always seemed pretty firm in the belief that it shouldn't be made in an online context. Although, I guess there's the possibility. There's as much evidence to back that theory up as there is to prove that TES V will be announced next week, which is to say, very little.

As far as TES V not even being developed... It's entirely possible that we could be in for hard years of Bethesda trolling us with New Vegas DLCs and FPS games.

Bethesda Game Studios is developing a new game. There are three reasonable possibilities:

1. Fallout 4
2. The Elder Scrolls V
3. a new franchise

Anything else is likely to be a joke by a forum veteran that pokes fun at Bethesda history. Is there a chance they aren't doing TESV? yes. There's always a chance. It's simply that Zenimax owns a trademark on Skyrim that expires soon, FO:NV is being published by Bethesda Softworks (note that Bethesda Softworks does not DEVELOP TES games, that's Bethesda Game Studios), and if Bethesda was working on a new franchise, well, let's just say that I'd expect Tood Howard and Pete Hines to be talking more about "ideas they wish they could do" than they are ;)

Is this why Bethesda is not talking about it? No. Bethesda rarely talks about what they are doing anyway. I can tell you, for example, that their next TES game will have more culture to it, assuming successful translation of developer intent, and that the animation system will be overhauled from Fallout 3. But I can only tell you that I believe they are making TESV: Skyrim. See how this works? We get details without context.

It IS possible that there is an Elder Scrolls MMO in development, but not by Bethesda Game Studios. If such a creature exists, it would be developed by Zenimax Online Studios.

It is also confirmed that Bethesda Game Studios has every intention of making TES V at some point, just not right now, unless they are, which they haven't said they are, so they aren't, unless they have a deal in place for a GameInformer exclusive, which they do, unless it's Dragon Age 2, which will be shown at E3, so that isn't it, unless it isn't at E3...

Summary:

All reasonable logic point to Bethesda Game Studios making The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim at the moment.
Bethesda Game Studios will not be making a TES MMO.
Zenimax Online is making an undisclosed game, which may be set in Tamriel.
The silence from BGS is standard procedure when there is no announced title.
BGS is active and details of their work (actual changes and intentions) are a matter of public record, but the overall context (what game they are making) is not.

I'd say Mr. Tissue, I agree with you 99% of the time, but with the way Assassin's Creed II and ME2 and ME3 announcements came so quickly after the release of the predecessors, it certainly isn't unheard of, and in the case of Mass Effect, it actually is their process.

I'd like to refer you to these quotes that convinced me that the next GI can't be DA2. This is in response to a post I made linking to a gameinformer online post that said DA2 and ME3 were not going to be at E3 according to EA.
But the article is on Game Informer itself. The tweet was posted on June 8th, while the confirmation of "no Dragon Age 2 on E3" - on June 11th.

Which means that on June 8th (when the tweet with "Giant sequel not at E3" was posted) they had no idea that "Dragon Age 2 on E3" is inaccurate. Just a speculation, of course.

Essentially, at the time, the Gameinformer staff likely thought DA2 would be at E3 which rules it out from the tweet post.

Is it possible the next ES game coming out IS the MMO and there is no actual plans for a good old TESV single player?

“To be clear, Todd and his team do not make MMOs, for any franchise, at all. We have another division – ZeniMax Online Studios – which is lead by Matt Firor, and they are working on an MMO.”

This means that Bethesda Game Studios, the people who make the TES games, do not make MMOs. ZeniMax may be making a TES mmo, but Bethesda also has an 'announced project' they are working on.

If its not Fallout (since Obsidian is working on Fallout: NV), then it is likely TES, considering its been four years since Oblivion. A new IP seems unlikely because the Betheda team isn't big enough to pursue so many projects unless they give a complete break from TES. That also is unlikely considering it is their most established IP and what they are primarily known for.

In conclusion, the 'unannounced project' is likely TESV.

Not really important, but when that GI guy says "giant sequel" maybe he also cleverly refers to the size of the game. Might be another clue, although I suppose Dragon Age could also be considered pretty big or something.

It would be somewhat embarrassing for Bethesda if Bioware announces DA2 or even ME3 before they even announce sequel to a 4 year old game.

Not so much, it's not embarrassing that Bethesda spends a long time on making games. It's one of the reasons I like them so much, they don't just churn out games every couple of years, they take their time.
