Official TES V Speculation Thread #36

Post » Mon Jan 03, 2011 1:45 am

I'd like to refer you to these quotes that convinced me that the next GI can't be DA2. This is in response to a post I made linking to a gameinformer online post that said DA2 and ME3 were not going to be at E3 according to EA.

Essentially, at the time, the Gameinformer staff likely thought DA2 would be at E3 which rules it out from the tweet post.

My response to Mr. Tissue Box was in that it wasn't too soon for DA2 to be announced, regardless of the GI. I am hopeful that the next GI could be what we have been waiting for, but not terribly optimistic that my hope has any speculative value :)

Not really important, but when that GI guy says "giant sequel" maybe he also cleverly refers to the size of the game. Might be another clue, although I suppose Dragon Age could also be considered pretty big or something.

It would be somewhat embarrassing for Bethesda if Bioware announces DA2 or even ME3 before they even announce sequel to a 4 year old game.

Will it be so embarrassing when TES 5 is one of the best role-playing games on the Xbox and PS3? (I would say PC but IDK how good some other RPGs for it is)

My line of thinking is, how can DAII be a "giant" sequel if it's going to be announced so soon after it came out, and released in next February? Much shorter development time. I've read comments from DAO fans and they're happy that DAII was not to be at E3, because they want Bioware to spend much more time on it. They at least know what "giant" means.

Yeah but many might beg to differ that TES will be the best RPG on the PC , while all the ones on the consoles pretty much svck. So a good TES for consoles would make it the best RPG on it.

As a PC-only fanatic, I can confidently say that TES is one of the best RPG series out there. Some may differ in preference to other RPG flavors, but in general it is among the best.

True, but as a console TES fan I can say that it is the only decent RPG, along with maybe ME and Fable(Not even fable 2 though, I mean Fable 1)

Not sure if this is anything worth getting excited about, but just saw this on the imperial libary home page

Dear visitors, have you noticed that the library has felt stagnant and seemed to have no life within it? Well, it's not just you. We, the librarians, have felt that way as well. Despite the lack of TES news these days, the library should not stay in an abandon-like state. And now, hopefully, as we are in the imminent release of the news of TES5. We should prepare ourselves for that, right?

That is interesting...Though how would they know of upcoming news? AFAIK, they aren't BGS employees...

Well it all seems to add up... The trademarks, the GI hint, the around 7 more months ESV has had to develop before announcement in comparison with Fallout 3's development before announcement, tons of fans posting in the Bethblog craving ESV... The energy of it all.

So you think TES V will be announced at E3? Or at least before summer's end?

Either at E3, Press conference, or by next month's GI.

Yes, the list of good console RPGs is punishingly slim. It's a pity, I like RGs and I only play on consoles. I mean look:

TES
Mass Effect
Fable 1
Tales of Symphonia 1 and 2.

That's it for good console RPGs (and good JRPGs in general with the "tales" games, BOOSH!)

The next GI, probably. If not, then the next one. If not these 2 issues, then we may not get an announcement for quite a while longer.

You guys think the people at Bethesda come here and are amazed at the 36 speculation topics we have?

the 36 threads are probably the only reason they would make a new ES, they're scared we'd bomb them

the library has nothing to do with TES5. I was talking to them about a whole bunch of new articles, and they decided that it'd be best to update and make their system easier to use.

I believe the intent of the first paragraph of the article was to provide partial reasoning for upgrading their system. If a new TES released, then that'd be a whole ton of new information they'd need to add to the site, and under their current system it takes longer to do that and is more difficult (you need to know HMTL and FTP to even edit the site to add the content). Their point is that when they update, it will be much easier to add content, especially in what could be a new TES game coming soon. They're simply playing off of the recent hype, just as we are. And even if a new TES didn't come out soon, the new site update adds usability and security, something that is good no matter what.

The last forum was a good run. Over 300 posts haha. Now lets pray this announcement in GI next month is Elder Scrolls V.

I know! Why'd they shut us down?! We were having such a great time!

On topic: Another day goes by without an announcement, but we can pray that the GameInformer announcement will be TES V.

Yeah, it would be nice if you folks could report this when it reaches the post limit since you must know us moderators are busy with FO:NV, Brink, Rage, The Hunted forums. And you know, this thing is filling up with posts which add little but "OMG E3 they must announce it there" when Gstaff and previously Pete told us not to expect it at E3. Remember there are other events where games can be announced and Pete as much as said he would prefer to make such sorts of announcements other places. E3 isn't as big a deal since they stopped admitting fans anyway. Let me see if I can find Pete's statement about that.

Found it:
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/04/interview-bethesdas-pete-hines/
E3 is coming up pretty soon. Should we be watching for any announcements from you or is this pretty much it?

Probably not. Just me, personally, both from my days, even though it seems eons ago where I used to attend E3 as a journo and now with my ten-plus years at Bethesda, I just don't think E3 is a great place to announce anything. It's just so much stuff going on that it tends to get lost, so I think we tend to try and go outside of that window for new announcements. I think we'll have a lot of new things to show. For example, all these games that we're talking about will have new stuff. We hope to be hands-on with the majority of them for the press, that kind of thing. But as far as new announcements, I think we would either do those kinds of things and maybe be more inclined to do them at events like QuakeCon. That's now kind of an event that we're working with id to make bigger and better. One of the ways you make it bigger and better is you take some of your stuff and do announcements there rather than doing them elsewhere. So I think it still remains to be seen, but I wouldn't expect any big announcements from us at E3, although it is only April and it's two months away.

You never know what's going to happen.

You never really know. Last year I thought for sure we were going to announce the id acquisition right around then and it wasn't announced till afterwards. I guess you never know for sure. But it's not probably in our plans, though.

No left-field announcement that the next Elder Scrolls is going to be a kid-friendly MMO on Facebook?

I think that's probably something that somebody completely made up on their own.

Anyway, I had a good mind to leave this closed a couple of days because so many folks spammed the end of the last thread instead of reporting it. :toughninja:

Maybe an announcement for TES V at Quakecon then? Just a thought.
