Official TES V Speculation Thread #36

Post » Sun Jan 02, 2011 8:11 am

Oh please let it be soon! I've actually saved up money to buy a computer to run the next ES game. How pathetic right?

Please oh please give us a hint?? clue??

That's not pathetic at all. I'm very happy to hear some kids (I'm assuming you're a bit younger, I apologize if you're not) can actually save their money and be responsible for their own purchases. Few things are as satisfying as laying down your own hard-earned money on something you've been dying to have for a long time. By the time this game comes out I'm gonna have to build a new machine myself.

Oooh, well that tweet is a pretty favourable portent. Could be a lot of things, indeed, but could certainly be TES5. Fits the profile of 'giant sequel' and 'not at E3' (so far as we know) like a glove, and the gamesas/GI history is there as well.

Because they've been putting such push behind Two Worlds for the last month or so, I would be strongly surprised if it didn't show at E3 - and, not to be mean, a sequel to a game that became a punchline does not qualify for 'giant' status in my book.

Dragon Age 2 is a distinct possibility, we know it is coming someday.

Could also be that new Dungeron Seige game that was just announced last week, I don't know if they're bringing it to E3 or not.

Something to keep an eye one, to be sure.

Another possibility is Thief 4, I'm crossing my fingers for TESV but if it was Thief I'd be pretty stoked.

So the plan must be to show all of the games they are publishing at E3 and not bring TES5 because it would obviously overshadow the other games. A few weeks later when everything has cooled down announce it on the website and have the GI come out. Then this sets them up to have a big quakecon where for the first time they will show a trailer and maybe some gameplay.

Wow guys, this is the most compelling evidence for a TES announcement! It lines up with the trademark, everything seems to be going perfectly! I'm almost ready to congratulate Stain lol

And if this is Skyrim, then the Art could be "excellent fantasy art". Nordic architecture would certainly fit the bill for awesome fantasy art.

In October last year Amazon and another site had a description for the second book saying that the next book would bridge the '200 year gap' between Elderscrolls 4 and 5. They only had it up for a short while however before presumably someone from Bethesda told them to take it down. Not fast enough to stop the rumours spreading though.

I still maintain there won't be an announcement until well after the 2nd book. The books exist for a reason and their timing is part of the plan for the next ES game. A tactic.

Varies, depends how much power you want, and how up to date you want to be.

My theory is to buy-in big, so you can relax for a few years before needing to change out parts. Other people will suggest to start mid-range and update regularly with less expensive vid cards and more RAM. Different strokes, it all works out in the end.

PC is a great platform, particularly for games like TES.

On topic:

Yeah, things are really lining up. I am hopeful about this series of observations and guesses in a way I have not been in some time. Still, could be wrong, could be nothing, but time will tell, it always does.

i think the book could be released after announcement and could possible fill people in on the new story or just give us something to fill the void between announcement and release

Yeah, don't forget that we can probably bet on at least a year between a "yes, it exists" announcment and a release date, so a book could drop in between no problem, and serve to bolster the hype train.

Apparently the hype train is stuck in the bat cave.

Quad cores are cheap and long lasting nowadays, and I would go Phenom II for gaming. As for GPUS, my general rule of thumb is to go for the second best GPU model, as the top level usually has a huge price increase for a little more performance (Single GPUs) You can put together a very solid, long lasting gaming PC together for about 650-700

So what are we thinking, would TES most likely be DX 9, or maybe DX 10/11??? I'd lean towards at least DX 10

Does a game informer announcement imply an earlier release date than an E3 announcement.

in my opinion yes because at e3 they can walk up and say elder scrolls 5, thank you very much and drive safely.

with game informer they have to have info and with a cover story extensive info

considering the state of the trademark it all seems to fall in place and most people seem to think DA will be shown at e3 so things look good for us right now.

Can somebody put together a list of all the possible games we could be looking at for the game informer cover. Include everything even if it is very unlikely ( like a final fantasy game) this way after e3 we can scratch them off and dig deeper into each game and find out how close we may be

As much as I'd look forward to Dragon Age 2 if other developers are punting out stonking fantasy IPs that little time apart even more folks will wonder when Beth are gonna get their skates on. Although Thief has also taken ages to put out the fourth in the series. And I think it's a safe bet to assume that developers don't just sit about and do nothing so if they haven't let slip what they're working on I think that it's inevitable that it's TESV. Don't think that'll stop them from sitting on it and making us all go even more crazy. The day it comes out is gonna be an absolute feeding frenzy.

I assume you meant announcement and not release. I'm not so sure the GI tweet implies that Bethesda will announce TES:V before E3, mainly because the tweet doesn't confirm TES:V exclusively (it could be another game it's referencing). Also, I highly doubt Bethesda would announce TES:V before or during E3 because it would no doubt take promotional attention away from the games its publishing. If this GI tweet is legit and referencing TES:V, then I would look to the first week in July for the announcement (or really anytime right before the reveal of August's GI cover).

I do agree with you but what other games do you think the cover could possibly be. We know it's a sequel, obviously a popular series(as we will apparently crap ourselves) and it won't be at e3. I'm not saying your wrong It just seems like to me that TES makes perfect sense here especially with the timing of the trademark possibly dying.

Well...honestly I have a hard time myself finding a more suitable alternative. Everything that came to my mind fitting the criteria (Dragon Age, Final Fantasy, and Zelda) can be ruled out...but admittedly I am not well in-the-know about video games other than what I play.
