I agree, but I think to his point though, when you talk about the fanbase for TES you aren't really talking about the traditional rpg (Japan-style) fan. TES is in its own kind of nebulous world of sandbox/rpg with the recent changes that Oblivion brought to combat, a spin towards fps style action... which is partly why everyone and their mom has heard of it. The tweet for "fantasy fans" doesn't really feel right in some respects when talking about TES... but here's hoping it is!!
I don't think there is as much of a JRPG/CRPG fan distinction as you make it out to be. I think the typical "fantasy fan" is actually more of an CRPG person, with DnD and LotR and all, rather than a JRPG fan, which has its roots more in anime than in traditional fantasy.
