Official TES V Speculation Thread #37

Post » Sat Jan 08, 2011 6:30 am

Could the GI cover be the new Zelda game, or is the cover of GI supposed to be an unannounced game?

Since whatever it is is not supposedly to be shown at E3, then I am assuming it's an unannounced game. I don't know about Zelda, since I don't follow it, but others here have commented convincingly about that not being a possibility.

T'was shown at E3, so yea, not a possibility.

I agree, but I think to his point though, when you talk about the fanbase for TES you aren't really talking about the traditional rpg (Japan-style) fan. TES is in its own kind of nebulous world of sandbox/rpg with the recent changes that Oblivion brought to combat, a spin towards fps style action... which is partly why everyone and their mom has heard of it. The tweet for "fantasy fans" doesn't really feel right in some respects when talking about TES... but here's hoping it is!!

I don't think there is as much of a JRPG/CRPG fan distinction as you make it out to be. I think the typical "fantasy fan" is actually more of an CRPG person, with DnD and LotR and all, rather than a JRPG fan, which has its roots more in anime than in traditional fantasy.

There was a Zelda trailer at E3 and it was AWESOME. This both makes me ultra-happy and rules out Zelda as the GI cover. So whoo!

I know it isn't likely, but there are 10 "confidential" announcements tomorrow, and I'm crossing my fingers that one of those is ES:V.

I'm still thinking we'll get an announcement at Quakecon, though I'd be very pleased if they announced it now, obviously.

The E3 schedule found on IGN, which of course is pretty loose and are probably mostly stupid little announcements. But it kinda makes sense due to the fact that Bethesda is showing their other titles tomorrow also (Brink, Demon's Forge, New Vegas).

But is their any hope for this E3 announcement? There was never much hope...just a fool's hope ;)

well, we'll see. Like it's been said, it'll be less than a month to the maybe-probably-TESV GI, so if it isn't announced tomorrow with the other Bethesda games, it's not that much of a wait.

Agh, stop asking us if there's any hope for an E3 announcement! We don't know, we have no idea! There's no evidence to suggest it, but if you want to hope, go right ahead. It is possible, but of course it's not probable. You'll just have to wait and see.

Does the layout of the Beth booths at E3 give any hints? Some hints of an announcement there? What do they look like? I haven't really read anything about that, other then the giant dinosaur they have. And what is that 2nd booth for? You know... the one close to the GI booth.... ;-)

And no, not much hope for an announcement at E3 here, but I'd like to rule it out completely to either focus on the next GI or QuakeCon.

Hell, I'm going on a road trip to Maryland in August. I'll just ask to use the bathroom at a bethesda building and "accidentally" stumble into somebody's office and "accidentally" check their files out. Sound fun?
