Official TES V Speculation Thread #37

Post » Sat Jan 08, 2011 4:31 am

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1090035-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-164/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

I don't know about you, but I want Pikmin 3! The Elder Scrolls V is merely listed as a rumor, however... Damn Bethesda is good at keeping secrets.

This will, and will always be, a large problem with websites and other media. When on starts a rumor, or hears it, it perpetrates it. It begins to pass around and snowball. With so many sites mentioning a single rumor, people begin to think its probably true. Its a hype snowball, and, while it can work in favor of the developers if they do have something to show, if they don't then it just makes everyone disappointed. Its a dangerous situation for PR.

I just find it funny that all this speculation erupted when Bethesda decided not to comment on whether or not they have a secret announcement. Seriously, the fact that they managed to pull this off deserves praise, in my opinion. It's a distant future, but I can imagine laughing at all this when playing TES:V. That makes me a little less depressed nowadays. :D

Where did the rumor come from, anyway?

I see the same thing on every site, but there are no sources, and not even a shred of evidence.

Was it really just Pete's "Probably not" that sent everyone into a frenzy?

Famitsu asked game developers if they had a secret announcement for E3. Many answered the question, but Beth dropped the evil "no comment".

Well Beth, we see your 'no comment' and raise you 'baseless hope'. Think you can still win with that hand?

This.

...and to elaborate a little further, Famitsu was asking these studios if they have any surprises for E3. Bethesda gave the obligatory "no comment", Famitsu reported that Bethesda's plans are secret, and probably due to a translation error people interpreted it as "Bethesda has a secret surprise".

Also in case anyone asks, Famitsu is a popular gaming magazine in Japan.

Considering they're both based on a whole lot of nothing, I suppose we've got equal chance. Right? Right?!

Threads are allowed up to 11 pages, which is 200 posts, before they are locked. This is to help with forum speed.

Well it used to be for forum speed and stability, but now it's just established convention and for refocusing whatever topic happens to be under discussion, ainnit?

Ah, I do so love this time of year. It gives me such a good excuse to dig out my skepticism hat.

I doubt there will be anything at E3...But I am almost positive that there will be something at QuakeCon. (Announcement via GI, unveiling via QuakeCon)

It just makes so much sense with what Pete said, the GI guy said, BGS sponsoring QuakeCon...It would be illogical for something not to be there...

People are still expecting an announcement at E3? That's extremely unlikely. The GI announcement makes a lot more sense.

I think that Bethesda announce ESV at E3: "We are working on next Elder Scrolls, join us at QuakeCon for more info !!!!". What You think ?

People should be happy. The Skyrim logo expires at the end of July, so in the next month and a half we should have ehard about TES V enough to make us rock back and forwards in the middle of our living rooms.

The video is tagged as being uploaded in September. Sounds like TES V wasn't even being looked at in the Fall. Todd says he'd love to return to TES, but a deadline still exists in the ambiguous realm of "one day".

Praise? I think not. Bethesda is getting what they deserve. They are reaping what they sow. :stare: Now, that's not to say I don't love Bethesda, but this is what you get in return for not loving your fan base; rumors out the [censored] and thousands of emails asking if/when TES 5 will come out, and this only escalates the longer you wait.
