Official TES V Speculation Thread #38

Post » Thu Feb 17, 2011 6:22 pm

Well there isn't a whole lot left to unveil for Diablo III (since you can see quite a bit on the site), so it wouldn't be much of an unveiling... I just don't see anything compelling in that article that would make me think that the GI cover isn't going to be Diablo III... here's hoping though that it is TESV!

Blizzard would most likely show a lot more details of Diablo 3 at BlizzCon in late October. Why would they unveil Diablo 3 in the GI if they were going to publicize it much more with a new demo at BlizzCon?

Why wouldn't they want to be on the cover of GameInformer? Gears 3 was on the cover and at E3... being publicized at an event and being on the cover of a magazine aren't mutually exclusive events and it only serves to market to a broader audience as GameInformer would reach those who would not be particularly interested in BlizzCon...

I believe if a fantasy fan were to see the amazing Diablo III art, a run to the laundry mat would surely be in order...

Yes, but concept art that can cause uncontrolled bowel movements could also be for Barbie:Fantasy Kingdom 3D... I'm just saying that we cannot exclude crap games from the list based on the quote.

Well, concept art for the fifth class of Diablo III would make a lot of fans crap themselves, but it doesn't really ring true (especially since the last class will almost definitely be revealed on BlizzCon, and not in GI). Damn you people, you keep getting my hopes up! It's close now...

That's a good point; I think we could cross Diablo III off the list, now.

Doesn't that leave TES V and LOTR?

Warcraft 4!

That, too, would be probably be at Blizzcon, considering it is so close.

If I'm not mistaken, that was the July cover, which was released early this month. The August issue will be released early in July.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything about Diablo III in E3 2010 and it is probably not there. All I could find is that Blizzard confirmed a few months ago that Diablo III will not be shown at E3 2010 and very recently confirmed that more details from the game that was first announced at BlizzCon 2009 will be shown at BlizzCon 2010. This is also a game that I look forward to but not as much as TES V.

Reposting what Miltos33 said. According to that, they're going to reserve details of Diablo 3 at BlizzCon.

I enjoyed Battle for Middle-Earth (the first one), but then again, I was young. Well, it's the same with Star Wars games, really. It's lost all its magic, yet people still get excited when a completely random SW game is announced (KotOR is not random, for instance).

Was The Witcher 2 one of the games we were considering for the next GI cover? Because Gamespot is doing an E3 demo of it right now, so we can definitely scratch it off the list.

Yes, Witcher 2 and Lord of the Rings: War in the North will not be the GI. They were at E3.

If http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Gray_Company ever came to fruition, I would probably buy it right at launch.

How about Baldur's Gate? "On December 2, 2008, Atari stated in a press conference that the Baldur's Gate series (among others) would be revisited after 2009." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldur%27s_Gate_%28series%29)

Yes, Witcher 2 and Lord of the Rings: War in the North will not be the GI. They were at E3.

Furthermore, War in the North seems 100% underwhelming.

Well, Dragon Age II is not at E3, but check this out:

http://greywardens.com/2010/04/bioware-and-ea-announce-dragon-age-2/

They have announced the sequel to be released... so I guess it still could easily be the next GI as well.

April's Fools. No need to confuse people with such things.:) That said, DA2 is possible for GI, as I understand it.

We discussed that a couple threads back (or one I don't remember), and it seems Atari and Wizards of the Coast I think, have had conflicts with each other on the Dungeons and Dragons property. So, I don't think we'll be seeing another Baldur's Gate for a while.

I still don't think Dragon Age II will be the next GI. They're still supporting DA:O with DLC, and they'll probably have another major expansion pack. Heck, that flyer with the two-winged dragon could be the second expansion pack for DA:O.

I see, well that's a relief (oddly enough :P ).

Not to mention the LotR game was in the current GI with a small article doubting the ability to fit your typical "loot-lust" action game into Tolkien's deep and well-thought-out world.

Wait, did we rule out Dragon Age 2?

Hey guys, I've been moving recently so that's why I haven't been active in this thread. Personally I think that tweet about the August GI is almost definitely talking about TES V, and if not that then Dragon Age 2. I don't think any other fantasy series is as well known or popular as those two. Dragon Age has the benefit of being a recent and very popular release, and you'd be hard pressed to find a gamer who hasn't heard of the Elder Scrolls at least once before. Diablo III isn't likely imo because it's been known about for so long. I'm definitely hyped up for the beginning of July now, here's hoping it's TES V.
