Official TES V Speculation Thread #38

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 4:49 am

Wait, did we rule out Dragon Age 2?

Maybe. Some would say yes, and some would say no. I just think Bioware wouldn't want to overshadow more DAO DLC with a DAII reveal. That's my opinion.

Hey guys, I've been moving recently so that's why I haven't been active in this thread. Personally I think that tweet about the August GI is almost definitely talking about TES V, and if not that then Dragon Age 2. I don't think any other fantasy series is as well known or popular as those two. Dragon Age has the benefit of being a recent and very popular release, and you'd be hard pressed to find a gamer who hasn't heard of the Elder Scrolls at least once before. Diablo III isn't likely imo because it's been known about for so long. I'm definitely hyped up for the beginning of July now, here's hoping it's TES V.

Well, it's not so much that there aren't a lot of well-loved fantasy series, it's just not a lot of well-loved fantasy series that fit the qualifiers of a GI cover story (new announcement, etc) AND were not at E3, or that haven't been said to not be happening any time soon (KHIII)

Hm, the DLC for that. Maybe that would mean they are staying off. I was both thinking and hoping they'd do Mass Effect 3 stuff first.

By the way, I haven't actually seen that GI tweet or whatever it was, is there a link available? (also, 29 people reading this thread!)

Yeah, Bioware announced new DAO DLC yesterday for anyone who missed it. It's called, "Lelianna's Song".

By the way, I haven't actually seen that GI tweet or whatever it was, is there a link available? (also, 29 people reading this thread!)

Anyone want to tweet him and ask him if the cover game of the August issue has been announced already, and see what his reply is? :P

Thanks mate, now I now the precise wording. For anyone else who hadn't actually read it:

"Got the cover art in today for the next issue. Giant sequel not at E3, and the art...well, fantasy nuts are gonna crap themselves"

Yeah, it was tweeted by GameInformer's Editor-in-Chief - http://twitter.com/GI_AndyMc/status/15659437114.

EDIT: Oh, seems as if this question's already been answered - sorry! Well, that's a direct link to the tweet itself, so you can use that to link people to it so they don't have to search his twitter feed to find it.

I am almost positive that TES V will be the GI cover. Between that, Pete's statement, and QuakeCon, it just makes so much sense.

Great, that's bookmarked. I thank thee.

So, I repeat: curse you people, for getting my hopes up! Gah, I'm so looking forward to early next month...

Remember the cover of the next Game Informer will most likely be revealed sometime around the 5-12, and if it follows the pattern of the last few issues it will be on or close to a Friday or Monday.

And TES V would most likely be announced before that via elderscrolls.com, correct?

It's uh, also been in my signature. Just in case you missed it. :P

Yep. So if ESV isn't revealed in very early July, such as July 1st, or 2nd, or 3rd, the GI probably won't be ESV.

For some reason that made me sad, even though we're not in July yet. :sadvaultboy:

Thank you Mr. Box for reminding us all what numbers come first in a month :P

Portal 2 was announced the very same day that the GI cover was revealed, within the same hour as each other if I recall correctly, so we really wont know for sure it isn't TES V until the cover is revealed.

Welcome. :) Hehe.

Yes, I suppose that is definitely a possibility, but it does stray from Bethesda's tradition. We'll see.

No reason to be sad, it just makes the date even closer to when we'll probably know whether or not ESV is announced.

Of course, probably doesn't apply if ESV is announced in early July, 'cause well... we'll know then. :hehe:

Do you regard that as a "giant sequel"? I think the sequel is Final Fantasy 14. And that was at E3, I think.

I predict that Bethesda will take their awful, awful IHRA Drag Racing series and turn it into a fantasy game with talking, drag racing horses. The main plot will be about Sparkles Fantastic, a 50 year old former cop who was forced into retirement after a bag of cocaine was planted in his storage locker by a new recruit. Mr. Fantastic will go on a journey through time and space as he attempts to track down the person who framed him and challenge him to the ultimate drag race on the worlds most depressing track, The Freshly Mowed Flower Patch. Along the way you'll have to help Mr. Fantastic save his marriage or successfully get custody of his kids after the divorce with his wife Belinda Fantastic, who cheated on him with the pool boy because Mr. Fantastic wasn't around enough. It will, of course, be rated M for mature, due to a particular scene where Sparkles attempts to jump off the Licorice Bridge into the Caramel Lagoon.

...I'm sorry, I'm just bored and need to find a way to pass the time. :whistling:

I'm sure glad I have a GameInformer subscription :D. Can't wait to read the article (assuming the cover is TESV). I feel old now, I remember reading Oblivion's GameInformer article :(
