Official TES V Speculation Thread #38

Post » Thu Feb 17, 2011 10:24 am

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1090035-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-164/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

So, how many of you guys think Bethesda will pull a Valve on us?

Personally, I don't think it will happen.

Define a 'Valve.'

Define a 'Valve.'

Gabe Newell of Valve showed up by blinding surprise in the middle of Sony's keynote. This after years of slighting, ignoring, and mocking the PS3. He came out and announced Portal 2, with the first real trailer, and said it would launch on the PS3 with the exclusive bonus of some form of Steam support. Which is giant news, and a heck of a surprise for Sony to put in their keynote.

Bethesda, in my estimation, will not pull a Valve. If ever they were going to do a surprise TES related announcment (never much of a possibility at all) they would have done it at the MS or Sony keynotes when coverage would have been huge, and they would have been guaranteed a splash-making news story out of it. Now that the big media moments are over for the show, it is (almost) certainly not going to happen.

What, were you not watching E3?

A surprise. That's pretty much it. Valve told us they would have a surprise, then they told us they weren't going to show up at all....then they actually DID show up, and the surprise was that the surprise wasn't even there because the game they said they wouldn't be showing because of the surprise WAS being showed.

Yes, I am being intentionally confusing.

Anybody on this board going to be at E3 to see the booths?

Failing that, how about an imaginary gold septim to the first user who links a booth tour with details of Beth's two plots?

Well, as for the GI cover, there were only two things in the last issue that mattered to me.

One was the pages upon pages of why Ebert can go svck it. That made me all toasty inside. Games are art, deal with it.

The other was the article on KH Birth by Sleep that basically details for sure that the big fantasy sequel is not KHIII.

So that leaves Dragon Age II and TESV, right? I'm not missing anything. we have an even 50/50 chance?

EDIT: And the Fallout Online page is still loading, but if this is the mysterious MMO then I can put the fear that TES would get some MMO butchery soundly to sleep. Like I said, anyone who wants a fantasy MMO is already on WoW, and almost no TES fans would buy it. There is zero demographic for it!

WTH is this!!!!>>> and why after filling out the info, does it lead me to the interplay forums?

I took a screenshot of it.

EDIT: OH, is this what the suit that interplay and Zenimax have currently is about??

Edit Edit: After some more delving, this is indeed interplay's MMO, who is still going ahead with the development of the MMO despite the lawsuit. It is named Project V13 in their forums.

So wait, is this "the" MMO? The one that I really hoped wasn't a TES one? If it is, maybe we ought to put that in the multiplayer thread, right? Ease a few worries?

No, this is the MMO that interplay is not allowed to make, but apparently is making anyway.

Hint: The site asks which Fallout from *Interplay* is your favorite ... Nothing to do with Bethesda except that they own the Trademark.

While we're on the topic, www.elderscrollsonline.com is also http://www.checkdomain.com/cgi-bin/checkdomain.pl?domain=elderscrollsonline.com. Zenimax or Bethesda are not mentioned, but the record is held by a major corporate registration company. various other variants thereof (elderscrolls-online.com, tesonline.com, etc.) are held by individuals in other nations, which may be personal sites, mods, or speculators, which does make the first site seem a bit less likely as an official variant. However, it was registered 14 days after the official announcement about the funding of Zenimax Online, and the offices of the company that holds it are located in Wilmington, DE (about an hour from Bethesda).

Okay, I think this image shows the second booth at E3 and you can see in the background the larger booth with the Dino in it... I think this confirms to me that there is all the realestate that Bethesda has at E3. I also checked the listings for the private conference rooms and Bethesda doesn't have one where many of the other publishers do, so no private showing either. Please take a look at the pick in the link as I might be misinterpreting what I am seeing, but if you look at the design of the floor plan on the E3 site, you can see that the second booth is kiddie-corner to the main booth and this is what it looks like to me. Brink...

Sorry, I guess the link isn't specific to the photo, but if you click on the pic that is fourth down on the right (there are actually three Bethesda booth pics in here) you'll see the one I mean.

Click around on the other pictures a bit. There's one that shows a Brink booth with the giant dino not far in the background.

Here's a quote from Todd Howard on the Radiant AI of Oblivion, and a hint towards the development of AI in ESV:

"It’s a really amazing system, and we only scratch the surface of it."

This was from the interview with http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=159095

Just thought I'd bring that up, because I reread it again, and I thought that scratching the surface was an interesting thing to say. It kind of implies that they're going to make use of even better AI in ESV.

Sure, of course, yes. Few years ago it was also billed as revolutionary.

Clearly, what this means is that Bethesda are working on a Jurassic Park MMO set in Skyrim.

Clearly.

But that interview was from a year ago, so if he doesn't want to talk about his next game, it's TES V. How do I know this? Because I just have a hunch. It will be announced on July 3rd with GameInformer. I'm on to you, Bethesda!

If you look at the rest of the pics, the dinosaur is actually part of the FO:New Vegas "Las Vegas" sign.

From http://games.ign.com/articles/109/1093169p1.html

I have no idea what's in the Bethesda booth. It's one of the only booths on the show floor that is completely private, though it's tantalizingly decorated to look like an amusemant park from the outside. On the inside, RAGE, Brink, and Fallout: New Vegas are undulating their secrets directly into the eyes of those lucky few with pre-scheduled appointments.

Accompanying it is a pic of the big booth, and nothing else (other than links to the 4 confirmed games).
