I like this forum, been so long since a game was released that the people left all actually pretty much care what the next game is like. I wouldnt expect an announcement on TES V until Beth thinks its gotten the hype for its other published titles such as RAGE high enough. gamesas has alot of games bieng published with its name on it at the moment, so dont get hopes up too high until probably after Fallout comes out in October (a game easily associated with Beth after Fallout 3 came out). Hype has its limits and a fans attention span is about the size of a proton, so I would expect gamesas to do the wise thing and wait till its wrung all the publicity and cash out of the current titles before announcing the next big (and in mean absolutely massive) money maker that is TES V. Remember, after TES V is announced it's expected that there will be a sharp rise in sales of the previous titles still in stores, as well as any associated merch such as books. Since money is finite they dont want people saving money for a title that would be a long way off instead of buying the titles Beth has published for this season.
Their new publishing approach is the one thing that makes me doubt (albeit only slightly) the reveal of TES:V in the next month. Not just because they might not want to steal the spotlight from the other dev's games that they are being kind enough to publish, but also because the revenue they make from these games might be intended to be pumped back into the publishing of TES:V for a mammoth launch campaign, similar in scope and cost to CoD:MW2's - which cost around $250 million to publish, compared to around $60 million to develop. You can see just how expensive the publishing side of games is compared to the development side from those figures, though of course Modern Warfare 2 is an extreme example. FO:NV, Brink, and Rage, will likely generate a huge sum of cash for Bethesda, though I think it's still too early to predict how well Hunted will do. Imagine what they could do with that amount of money! TES:V could be showed before every film at the cinema, on every major TV channel, at bus-stops and on billboards across the globe, the list goes on.
But as Riveon and Menes40 pointed out before me, that trademark is clearly going to be used, or they wouldn't have kept renewing it. There's also the GI tweet that fits in tantalizing well with the trademark expiration date and QuakeCon. Coincidence? Perhaps. It's still worth noting that by the time a TES:V launch campaign begins in ernest, FO:NV, Brink, and Rage, will have been on store shelves for a while, and Bethesda will have reaped the rewards. So long as they don't
advertise TES:V at the same time as their currently announced published games, I don't think they'll be stealing the spotlight from anything.
