It seems very obvious to me that the Fallout IP is temporarily in the hands of Obsidian and Interplay (possibly if they can win the legal battle). I am happy about this because, A) I am not as deeply invested in that franchise to feel it could be mishandled and B} It frees up Bethesda to return to TES. I then wondered how I would feel if Bethesda loaned the Elder Scrolls IP out to another developer, even an internal Zenimax Online... and it made me not feel so good. A) I want Todd making my next TES game and B} I can't think of another franchise that was successful at launching multiple games (even if they had different genres) that were all successful, at the same time. This means to me that IF Zenimax Online were to release the TES MMO, then Bethesda would not likely release TESV in the near term. The recent job postings for World Artist intern specifically indicates "Next Generation" systems, and perhaps Bethesda is really going all in on the next game... which is great in a way... but very sad in another.
Do you think it is at all possible that the Elder Scrolls MMO will be a staged roll-out, i.e. they start the MMO in one province (Skyrim) and then release another province at designated intervals until all of Tamriel is released?
Random thoughts after some wine on a warm Friday night, so no worries if you want to pick this apart and the what-not, just got really bored with the concept art/tweet-a-thon stuff and wanted to sit back with some Pinot Grigio after a long day outside
