I'm not gonna put much into it, but it just seems weird the way they mention it, nobody but us monitors anything about TESV, but they say someone caught them in the street and asked about TESV? I would expect that someone to at least be on this forum, but I don't think they have met anybody, it seems like an excuse to mention TESV, you know?

I feel that there's a possibility of them knowing something, though I wouldn't hold my breath.

Actually, this is very interesting. They asked specifically for fans to ask them about TESV and for a release date and to email it to them. The show airs every Tuesday, and if all things go like we think they will, these guys may actually have some answers come Tuesday... speculatively speaking it is just more hype and more fun, and with the total lack of anything new, I am fine talking about it :)

They might be fans, but they work for Xbox in a gaming podcast. Surely they'd be in the loop if ESV was imminent. And no, I'm not saying this is a big deal and it is an announcement of my sort, but who knows.

Oh I strongly doubt those guys are inside of any loop. Have you ever listened to OneOfSwords? Dan Ammeric is Activision's official community manager, and they don't tell him anything, 9 times out of 10 he is scrambling to get an official word once news breaks.

Poor guy, I'm sure Gstaff isn't kept out of the loop like that.

I have a feeling that the game is going to be something out of left field that no one has given much thought and that worries me.

Oh, I really doubt it. Gstaff probably knows just as much as every dev for TES:V as far as information goes.

I think this cover art will be a sequel to a game that's only had one game. I consider the fifth game of a series the "next installment" and not really a sequel.

...And we're back into debating what defines a sequel. :P

This is a point that I made a few threads back and now actually disagree with. The word "sequel" describes any successive installment in a franchise - whether it's the second or the fifth. In the time he took to write that tweet, he probably didn't think people would be picking it apart word for word - if he had, he would have probably chosen a more appropriate word.

That's the thing...when he said sequel I think he was referring to a sole game and not a series or he would have said "next installment" or "huge franchise" or something like that.

A TES fan would not have said "sequel" even without giving it any thought... but he could very well call TESV a sequel. Either way, it doesn't matter much. If the cover turns out to be "Brown Pants: A Crapping Good Fantasy" and not TESV, we still have hope that July will bring us something. The marks for merchandise and manuals are still up for expiration soon and until they file for new marks for those, I have hope.

Now should they file for new marks tomorrow and "BP: ACGF" graces the cover of GI, then we can all despair as the announcement would then likely be some way off.

Sequel= next in sequence, as in V after IV. I've had too crappy a weak to deal with pessimistic [censored]. There is no reason to think it's not, and anyone who doesn't want to hope for the GI cover to be it for "fear of being disappointed" is a filthy and shameful coward.

Anyhow, even if it weren't GI, there would be a possibility of QuakeCon, and then even more stuff after.

Hello? I just said I would. And I have been a TES fan for six years.

I seriously hope you're kidding. There's nothing I hate more then when people tell me why I say stuff. I said it because it's true. I would say sequel. I am not trying to make false hope, I am just stating the fact.

Is Jade Empire 2 a possibility? I think that would classify as a fantasy game and a lot of fans would definitely crap themselves. But with Bioware having a lot of projects, I'm not sure if they would do it.

Never would I have imagined so much confusion over the word sequel. Street Fighter 3 is a sequel, Star Trek 4 is a sequel, Rocky V is a sequel, FF6 is a sequel, Mega Man 7 is a sequel....

Yes, sequel is the appropriate term, and with a 140 character limit, it is the most direct way of expressing anything like "next in a series" or "the next instalment of a franchise".

Hey sorry, all I meant when I said "A TES fan wouldn't have said sequel" is only in reference to the fact that each game is unique and rebuilt and has a completely different set of characters, setting, and storyline that is not connected to the others... that was all. No offense meant by that :) Anyway, thought you might all enjoy some other speculation for TESV and someone else that we can get in the spirit of yearning with:

Interesting...that's what I was thinking a sequel to an original game not a series with two or more entries.
