Any old nintendo franchises that haven't seen a release in a long time that have been talked about?

Well good thing Mass Effect is Sci Fy.

Not sure why it couldn't be DA2. EA really likes seeing Bioware pump out those games.

That's what worries me...ea likes games to be announced and pumped out so quick that dragon age 2 is a real possibility...

I'd say so. It's been less than a year since both of them have been released.

This and plus I believe Mass Effect misses the genre implied by the tweet. (For those tempted to split hairs here, please leave it alone. I am not interested in debating how Mass Effect fits into the fantasy genre.)

Surely it couldn't be mass effect 3 or dragon age 2 right? Right?

How many times have we explained why it won't be Dragon Age 2...

BioWare has stated that they want to release multiple DLCs and expansions for Dragon Age: Origins. DA2 won't be officially announced any time soon.

Valve said the same thing for L4D. Then we got L4D2. So..........

The fact that we seem to be running through every fantasy game in recent history gives me a headache. We really need something new to talk about. Like TES V.

Take a look at Andy McNamara's twitter. Recent posts indicate he plays WoW, so he knows what the difference between sci-fi and fantasy is. Can we please stop saying ME2 and Star Wars are possibilities now? Also he likes Tool, so he's awesome.

Also at the Final Fantasy comment, that isn't possible at all really. Final Fantasy is not even close to the kind of game Game Informer likes to put on it's covers, and even if it was, Famitsu would have coverage of it, not Game Informer.

And for Starfox, there was a new 3DS Starfox game shown at E3 so that's not possible.

Wasn't that shown at E3? Or was that FFXIV?

Or was it both?

Actually I could see versus xiii on the cover since it is supposed to be more action oriented and it was featured in either the current issue of famitsu or last months so maybe its time for a north american feature.

Oh and the 3ds starfox is just a remake I believe of starfox 64 not a brand new entry in the series so...

That was just revealed in Famitsu, so I don't see that happening.

Anyway, are Japanese RPGs ever shown through GameInformer anyway? I would think the cover would be a game that was just announced.

I don't have a quotable source but I know that the cover will not be GW2, or was that already covered?

This is true.

Also, if it's not TESV on the cover, my vote goes to Duke Nukem Forever.

Yeah, it's been covered. Not gonna go search for it again though :P

That's not possible, DNF was canceled a year or so ago. And, IIRC, their company was shut down too.

This is grasping at straws, but we never had a "What we're playing" this week. Maybe the developers were so busy about an impending ESV announcement.

Have we ever missed a week of "What we're playing"?

Like I said, Final Fantasy is not even close to the kind of game Game Informer puts on it's covers. Go on their website, browse the cover gallery, and note that there have been absolutely no JRPG covers since February 2007 with Blue Dragon, and no western RPG covers since Dragon Age in November 2008, Alpha Protocol in April 2008, Fallout 3 in July 2007 and Oblivion way back in October 2004. Fable in 2003 too, but that's as far back as I feel like going atm. As you can see Game Informer only puts RPGs on the cover extremely rarely, and JRPGs on the cover almost never. Final Fantasy anything being on the cover is incredibly far-fetched, when looking at those facts.

Edit: Final Fantasy X was on the cover in 2002, 8 years ago. Game Informer has changed quite a bit since then, however. It still seems extremely unlikely they will have a Final Fantasy cover in 2010.

Oh and the 3ds starfox is just a remake I believe of starfox 64 not a brand new entry in the series so...

It was still at E3. Not that I would even consider Starfox fantasy, what with the sci-fi vehicles...
