Official TES V Speculation Thread # 46

Post » Sat Apr 09, 2011 6:17 pm

Haha, I don't think they're at the office this early in the morning.

I doubt we'll hear about the new cover today. Most people have today off since the 4th is a paid holiday and it fell on a Sunday so people have Monday off now.

And just to be double-sure I called GI. They're closed too!

Yep. A lot of places are closed. Which is why I can be here typing this. I didn't expect anything at all today, but there's always tomorrow :D

EDIT PS: I have a lot of things to do this week and I'll only be able to get on any computer briefly and irregularly after today. However I have a foolproof method of figuring out if the GI cover is something else when it is announced: the collective wails of all you people as you howl in anguish. Conversely, if I hear cheering sweeping over the globe I'll know that it was announced even though I'll be watching my younger brother at his tennis thing or... well you probably don't want to hear about the other thing any more than I want to talk about it.

Okay going through this thread while I was away, someone asked if the cover could be Kingdom Heart's 3. It's probably been answered already, but it's not in production at the moment. That came from the lead developer I think. He said that they were busy finishing up Final Fantasy versus.

It probably won't be Baldur's Gate III or Neverwinter Nights 3 either. Because there was some sort of legal conflict between Atari and Wizard's of the Coast regarding the Dungeons and Dragons property.

Someone also mentioned Battlefront 3. We explained why it wasn't this in the last thread, or was it two threads ago? Anyway, I'm tired of having to explain why it won't be THIS game or THAT game. We really need to compile all the info, and put it in the first post...

If the GI cover was Big Rigs 2: Elves with Road Rage I'd lose faith in humanity.

Watch, it's going to be an all-new Dragon-Style RPG. Like, riding dragons, and whatnot.

I'm still voting TESV, but it could be a new game all together. We can't possibly rule that out.

Not to mention, I'm pretty sure someone asked for it to be put in the OP - they were talking about having it put in in the last thread.

This and the reason I hesitated when adding it.

I can't wait to see what they have done with it, see if any suggestions have made it into the game, of course we wont be able to tell just from a trailer or whatever there might be if it is TESV, but I think that if anyone will notice it's gonna be us.

It can't be ruled out, but that doesn't make it remotely likely. If your parent company just acquired another company with bucketloads of IP's to add to the publishing umbrella, and if your in-house development arm was already staggering to handle 2 IPs, one coming out every 3 to 4 years, would it really make sense to add yet another IP to that list for the publishers to deal with and to delay the revisitation cycle by another 3 to 4 years? Not to mention that a new IP is a risk while a sequel (especially a much-anticipated sequel to an acclaimed series) is a sure thing.

Regardless of the "when", I'd say we can rest assured that TESV is what's on and been on their plate.

Can't wait to see what they have done with what? There could very well be no work done on the game at all because it may not exist sheesh people...

Can't wait to see what they've done with the game, I said the game. Although there's no official announcement yet, there's a arsenal of evidence pointing to it being worked on.

Summer knows no more than we do. She doesn't work for BGSF or GI.

Right; she's just a moderator. She probably put that there to inform people who incorrectly believe that BGS might be working on an MMO or one of the other titles. Nothing to worry about there.

And evidence doesn't always lead to what you want. I hope the cover is esv trust me but I'm not being close minded either I'm a realist.

I'm a realist too, and I've dismissed these "possible chances" as far fetched, but this is the first time where TES V is extremely likely to be announced/revealed.

No, you're being pessimistic. There;s always 2 sides, of course. Its either No TES V, or TES V. There is not one piece of evidence pointing to the cover NOT being TES V.

My first post in the Speculation thread, but I've been reading them for a loong time. This is the first time I feel really excited about the pages and pages of mindless anticipation, and I really hope for all our sakes that this GI issue is indeed the next Elder Scrolls.

If you were a realist then you could surely see how the GI cover could be TES V. I mean, really, you aren't adding anything to the speculation threads. Every post I've seen you make in these have been negative and pessimistic. It's like you're hoping it won't be TES V. It's like you're trying to make people as angry/depressed as possible.

And a lot of people think the same:

Out of curiosity, why are you trying so hard to be such a downer? Because I think I speak for everyone when I say those kinds of posts aren't welcome here. You aren't "being realistic," you're just trying disturbingly hard to either anger everyone or make people depressed. We have a lot of things fueling our speculation right now, more than we've had in a long while, so we aren't running on "false hope." We're running on hope due to many factors, including the expiring trademarks and that tweet. Far from "false hope."

This is working out perfectly for being TES V IMO.

Even excluding the trademark, we still have TES V as the most likely candidate for the GI cover. And here's why I think we see a reveal in the GI vs Quakecon.

What's a better way to drum up more attendance and attention to Quakecon?

A. A completely secret announcement, revealed on the spot out of the blue at Quakecon

OR

B. A cover reveal in a magazine about a month and a half prior to Quakecon, with diluted info and some art, and then a Beth announcement that there will be more info and maybe a demo at Quakecon?
