How long did it take to get Morrowind made after Daggerfall was released? 7 years? 9?

6 years. But they didnt start it at once.

I may be alone on this, but I'm hoping that the MMO rumor is true. Lets face it a quality MMO, or multiplayer aspect is long over due, and I would trust this company to come up with something good, that wasn't just another WOW clone. That being said, I wouldn't want them to give up on the single player campaigns, (which I doubt they ever would), guess I'm greedy, I want both.

My post seems to have gotten buried beneath everyone elses, I hope you don't mind if I just ask again.

Could the GI cover be Kingdom Under Fire 2? I don't know how popular it is abroad, or if it's crap-pants worthy to most people, but it's pretty well known among people I know, and generally praised as a good looking game. It certainly is a fantasy game, and it wasn't at E3.

There is no set time as to how long a videogame takes to make. It all depends on the scope of the game, the size of the team, and a whole bunch of other factors.

Duke Nuken Forever did not fail because it took too long. It failed because they kept switching technologies and trying to add in as much as possible, and because the leader really svcked at leading. They were trying to do too much and were never satisfied with what they had. DNK is exactly what will happen to TESV if Beth listens to what the community says and adds in all the suggestions and 3rd party software, switches to the id engine (or something else), etc. I have faith that Beth knows what they want to do and are busy doing it, which means that a longer development time is just a reflection on how huge TES games are getting.

If there's an Elder Scrolls MMORPG it will be developed by Zenimax Online Studios, not Bethesda. Bethesda would no doubt consult but the developement itself would be handled by ZOS.

However this does mean its possible for an Elder Scrolls MMORPG to be in developement along with TES V.

Thats a prity obscure game. Ive never played it, but I dont doubt that fans of it might be excited for it. But I dont think its quite "Crap your pants" popular.

Good to know. Like I said, it's pretty popular in my group, I just didn't know if it was actually well known or not.

So if Zenimax's mmo is TES related, would they announce it alongside TES V? It would double the hype imo.

I doubt it would be a full announcement (as that would cancel the hype out, I think), but a small 'oh yea, a TES MMO is in production" is possible. That way all the haters are already prepared and the forums are hopefully spared rampage due to the awesome news of TESV.

They also made Battlespire and Redguard, which although not technically in the series, were still TES. This allowed them to try out new gameplay, resulting in the more action oriented Morrowind. I'm sure Fallout fulfilled a similar role, and we will see some it reflected in TES V.

I bet they will make an announcement of the MMO after TES V is released it makes no sence to subtract hype from your current IP for the sake of hyping another of the same series look at FONV no new FO news until october when NV comes out... same idea.

Knowing some people here, there will still be rampage. Bad news overshadows good news for some people.

Star Wars : The Old Republic is shaping up to look pretty good. I'd have my hands full if this came out along with TES MMO and TES V. And I'd much much rather have TES V than any TES MMO...

Guild Wars 2 as well. Didn't Zenimax Online Studios begin developing their mmo in 2007? I heard this somewhere, but if they announce it after TES V is released thats 5-6 years development time. Plenty enough time to develop a great game off a great franchise.

ZeniMax Online Studios has been working on something for years now. If it is a TES MMO, it will be pretty far in development.

We don't know if Bethesda is using an updated version of the TES IV/FO3 engine or a brand new engine.
