Official TES V Speculation Thread # 48

Post » Mon Apr 18, 2011 1:47 am

Alice 2 doesn't sound like something I'd poop my pants over, though.

Yeah, I know, that's what I keep thinking too. I mean, it's nice and all, but that's a title you have a fairly moderate "Oh, cool!" reaction to hearing it's been announced. Kind of anti-climactic compared to the magnitude we're being led to believe here.

EDIT: Oh hello Gstaff! Anything you'd like to add to the conversation?

What do you think the chances of Kingdom Under Fire 2 being on the cover of GI are?

I suppose it doesn't really matter seeing as we're likely going to find out what the cover is before the weekend.

Also, I was gone for 12 hours and we've already gone through a whole thread?

Well getting a heads-up is different than being given a "hey we won't be saying anything anytime soon"... Hungry, correct me if I am wrong here, but I took that to mean you are speculating with the rest of us in that you opinion is that it won't be any time soon (which there are plenty also who feel that way, but they likely don't post because they'll get called "Sad-Maker").

Yep, pure speculation on my part, my position as a moderator here isn't giving me special insight.

EDIT: Oh hello Gstaff! Anything you'd like to add to the conversation?

If you listen very carefully you may be able to hear him chuckle because this has to be funny either way.

That's probably the most you'll get from him.

But keep in mind that we are all waiting for TES V, while, like someone mentioned, there are a lot of diehard Alice fans that have been waiting for a sequel for longer than we have. Maybe we wouldn't get that excited, but someone else certainly would.

I personally don't think it's Alice, just bringing it up.

True, and while I might not be as die-hard as some, I would count myself among them. But I wouldn't necessarily picture the media clout that Alice 2 has as comparable to that of something like TES:V. And besides, considering that American McGee's already declared that Alice 2 is in development, there's no secret behind it. It's just a matter of waiting patiently; the existence is already confirmed. Which also seems to pale in comparison to announcing something relatively out-of-the-blue w/out any real buildup like a TES announcement would be.

Who knows though, maybe I'm just hopelessly slanted to favor TES and can't see the other side's clout.

He could always comment that he likes brownies. Or long walks on the beach.

So to stay on topic though, it seems we now have three possibilities for the GI cover:

1) TESV
2) Dragon Age 2
3) Alice 2

Eh, feels too soon for Dragon Age 2 (although, it did just occur to me that a new expansion for Dragon Age might be entirely reasonable, so I won't discount the franchise yet). As, for Alice, well... while it does qualify as fantasy, it's not quite what comes to mind when you say "fantasy fans"; I tend to associate that with the more traditional swords, elves, and wizards kind of fantasy.

Yes. I feel like more people know about TES V than Alice, but again, I'm probably just biased.

The other guy was much better at impersonating Gstaff. :meh:

Gstaff might be here because I might have sent him a PM asking about his thoughts on the current speculation. :whistling:

Maybe lay off on bothering the admins and support staff of BSF, GI, and elsewhere? I can't imagine they like being asked questions they can't legally answer, and we won't get anything productive out of it.

49 User(s) are reading this topic... This place sure is popular.

Anyways... Its coming soon. There cant be any other explanation. "But perhaps Dra...." NO OTHER EXPLANATION! If we do not get our TES V we will... we will... ehm... open up a completely new RP where we are to capture the game developers and force them to announce and release TES V quickly.
However, they are guarded by vampires, werewolves and daedra. But nothing we cant handle....

Awe, now I feel all sad and guilty. :(

I wasn't trying to get a "Yes, we're making TES V" out of him. I just wanted to know if he thought it was funny, interesting, etc.

I feel really guilty now. :(

Eh, regarding Gstaff, like I said before:
He could always comment that he likes brownies. Or long walks on the beach.

Productivity pales to the entertainment that can be had. If I were the admin at least, regardless of Yea or Nay, I would be giggling up a storm at the feeding frenzy here.

As you should. :) Nah, just teasin'.
I think it's a good chance that the GI cover will be TES:V, the more I think about it. All the facts in the last few threads really diminish the chances of other titles being announced, and TES:V has yet to be shot down.

Well, it is comforting to know that HD's speculation was just that - speculation, and not due to any kind of privileged info. :)

The way I see it, it is the 6th, and tomorrow is the 7th. The GI reveal is estimated to be any time from yesterday to next Monday, 6 days away. Now that we're actually in the window, the best course of action is to wait it out and see what happens. Hopefully GI isn't paying enough attention to this anticipation to take the opportunity to mess with us - intentionally delay the cover, throw out random rumors, etc. That would just be mean.

Now, the lot of you, back to playing the waiting game. Most patient person wins.

Well, we're more waiting for some sort of announcement of TESV before the reveal of GameInformer, since that seems the most logical course of action Bethesda would do. So, it doesn't seem too likely it'll be a week between an announcement and reveal of GI if it's ESV, perhaps a few days in-between . Or perhaps Bethesda will take a new route and announce the game on the same day as the reveal of the GI.

While unlikely, Thief 4 may be a contender for the GI as well. It's been stated before that Eidos Montreal is busy developing Deus Ex 3, but still- they could be hard at work on Thief 4 too. I dunno.

"Eidos Montreal indicated that their studio is 'completely dedicated to 'Deus Ex' at the moment,'" http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2010/06/03/thief-4-may-be-coming-to-ps3-but-definitely-not-to-e3-2010/

It's getting rather annoying not knowing whether it'll be tomorrow it's announced, or the next day, or the next day. Or... not at all.

I'm with you brother, it's the longest we've had to wait for just an announcement, and I am getting that itch of possible annoyance, or exhaustion. We will see sooner, if maybe never later.

I think it's a good chance of happening. But I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm not trying to offend anyone but I wouldn't be surprised if any of you lost some sleep over being so excited. Hell, I probably would too but I'm just forcing the thought out of my mind haha.

i don't want to be a hater, but i personally don't mind if new comers repost things and so forth. it's really not that big of a deal. people are just excited and this is just a thread in an internet forum. it's not like this has to be some kind of purist's log of speculation - go start a blog if you want a perfect chronicle of each new piece of speculation.

or

make a request to the admins to add an emoticon that translates as, "nu uhhh! I already knew that!"

:whistling:

Dude I totally agree. I understand why they have the rules, but at the same time it seems a little unnecessary. I really don't mind when people repost or post funny comments or jokes. It makes things more fun. We're all excited. I mean why shouldn't we be? More likely than not the next few days will bring about the announcement of the fifth installment of the greatest video game series the world has ever known...

Yes, but for what it's worth (which may not be much), his recent frequent participation in the discussion proves he's very interested.

Perhaps on Friday they change elderscrolls.com to simply display a concept art (kinda like what they did with Fallout) and leave us the whole weekend to go nuts....and announce Monday? This is purely a guess.

I'm personally okay with humor, but I believe the real issue is the ridiculous rehashing of old discussions and the ecstatic posts that offer nothing to the real discussion. Once or twice? No problem. Every single freaking thread? That's very annoying and really takes away from the general discussion. The discussion has really deteriorated in the past 10 threads and I'm disappointed the rules haven't been more strongly enforced. However, I understand that people are excited but a simple read through of past threads would clear up many unnecessary posts. This post itself really ought not to have been posted...oh well.

Here's what's really stupid, there have been 3 fallout games announced since there release of Oblivion, it's like that forgot about thier original child and are spoiling the heck out of the adopted kid. This is just an idea I thought up.
