Official TES V Speculation Thread # 51

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:36 am

Do you think if the cover was ESV and his most anticipated game, would he say, "Is ESV even in the works?"

I still think he asked the question in jest. Or he could be trying to downplay next months cover...Or he could seriously not know...

I am confused.

Another GI bandwagon to jump onto? Hoo boy. What evidence do we have this time?

And remember the discussion way back then about GameInformer not predicting to see ESV at E3, despite the widespread rumors? And one of the members here emailed GameInformer to dig around for ESV or something to that nature and GI replied with, "Nope".

I would think GI kind of knows Bethesda would contact them to do a cover reveal, even a few months ahead. So maybe GI already knew ahead of time that ESV was going to be a magazine reveal, so they didn't predict ESV at all.

Should they add the repair wait time in TESV? You have to wait for your armour to be repaired, the more damage it has the longer the wait?

With the exception of you have hammers and tongs and able to repair it yourself.

Or should it be INSTA-repair like TES III & IV?

Perhaps this is an honest mistake, but this belongs in the suggestions thread.

Sweet cracker sandwich, people. What is up with the behavior in this thread lately. :stare: You've had moderators editing/deleting/closing and otherwise keeping an eye on the speculation threads for days.

We know you all like to speculate about TES V and we are trying to keep this avenue open for you to talk about it - but keep it civil if you are disagreeing, report problems instead of nudging them along with more off topic replies.

It's only one person who hasn't followed here long enough.

No, there isn't. It's a straw, and anyone grasping for it will yet again be disappointed.

The more time that passes without an announcement about TES V, the less likely I think that it is actually in production. I always think back to BioWare and how they made KOTOR, everyone wanted another and was expecting it, but they began working on an entirely new project, Mass Effect. Bethesda now has 2 major games to build off of in TES and FO. I think they're producing an entirely new game. Just my thoughts. TES V will be after this new, un-announced game ships.

Gotta agree with you, Freddo, but remember, all we do in this thread is grasp at straws. Personally I'm not getting my hopes up for the next issue, and now that we know that the trademarks expiring doesn't limit them as long as they file new applications, I see no reason to get my hopes up for an announcement any time soon.

The way I see it is that after the current trademarks expire and Bethesda files for new marks, there's absolutely no date that they have to announce TES V by for another 3 years, when the newest marks expire, though by that time, god willing, it will have been announced and released already. They could announce it this month, they could announce it a year from now, but at the moment we have no idea which it will be.

On the bright side, as others have mention before, if TES V has been in development since Oblivion was released, making it the longest developed BGS game yet, it should be pretty damn awesome when it is finally announced.

How come there's not been much mention of Quake Con? Isn't that in August? Oblivion's producer has said numerous times how he want's to make Quake Con bigger. One good way to do that is to announce huge games there.

Because there's nothing to suggest that Bethesda would make a TES announcement at QuakeCon

Well, Pete Hines did say that QuakeCon would be a good place to announce things.

I've been looking but I can't find the interview I'm looking for. But I read an interview with Todd Howard the other day and he was talking about how he and Bethesda want to make Quake Con a bigger event. It lead me to believe an announcement could be made there.

[censored] it people just give up. August GI was what the 47th, 48th let down? now you're already putting together all this irrelevant crap and somehow turning it into a sign that TESV is on the brink of announcment. You're like a bunch of 9/11 conspiracy theorists. As much as i'd love for you guys to prove me wrong you won't. There's no TES on the horizon for a long time yet. Try again in a couple of years

Right under my nose. Oops. Well, there it is. I'm predicting Quakecon for an announcement. Whether it is TES V, I still kind of doubt it.

The only thing we've got going for us is that they seemed to consider an announcement of a game to be possible - 'although it's only April and E3 is two months away', and they considered Quakecon a possible place to announce something. But now we know they're not bound by the trademarks (which was the main evidence we had for an announcement) so they can announce it whenever they want. So I'd say Quakecon is the last possible avenue this year, and if nothing's shown there, then I think it will truly be clear that we're not going to hear anything until at least next year.

No. It's possible, but look how likely the last GI issue seemed. All the facts seemed to point to it but, as it turned out, it was not TESV at all. So we should keep it in mind as a very tentative possibility, but nothing more than that at this stage.

He's probably well aware that TESV could be in development; he's probably just making the point that he has no information on the game, through that tweet. Or there's a slim chance he does know and he's trying to push you off the trail? Hard to guess at this stage.

Hope never dies. Unless it's not announced by the time Quakecon is over, in which case, it dies.
