Official TES V Speculation Thread # 51

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 2:27 pm

DO YOU GUYS NOT UNDERSTAND?
THERE WON'T BE A TESV ON THIS WAVE OF TECH.
If they announce the game at quakecon (which they won't)
Most likely they will release the game within 1-2 years after the announcment (like they have done in the past)
They aren't going to release a game at the end of a console cycle. I'm sorry, but they won't do it.
They have always built games for new technology, and waited for the tech to come to implement it.

I would bet 10,000 dollars that they have spent the last few years writing quests, and designing the story and game.
They will spend the next 2-3 years putting it on future tech.
We will see an annoucment in a year or two.

The 2nd novel isn't even out yet!

LOL at the people that thought there was going to be an annoucment this month.

You joined up today just to say that....? I feel for you.

I don't want to board the hype train either, but I can't seem to stop digging around for this...

Here's Andrew Reiner's favorite games of this year anyway...: "Favorite Games:This Year: Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Alan Wake"

Andrew Reiner is a member of the Official Elder Scrolls Group on GI online. :shocking: That coupled with the winky thing about that dude's fake TES V Twitter page and the trade mark stuff, and I'd say things are looking up for the September Issue. :)

That may be true, but only OB was specifically released with the new consoles. And these consoles might be out for 3-4 more years. So at the same time there might be a 2010 announcement, a 2011 game, and new consoles by the time the world ends.

You're just flat wrong. Look at Fallout 3. That wasn't released on "new technology." Plus there won't be new consoles for a good five to six years. Pete Hines said a while back that there could potentially be a new Elder Scrolls in 2010. TES V is coming this generation. And its coming soon.

Which is very strange - They haven't even announced the title to the second book. In most book series, you often know the title well in advance (often when the previous book is published). I truly wonder what they are waiting for.

So the first article I found on Google (and yes, I'm suffering from the same addiction ) was actually right... He plays everything.

So typical of all this speculation, he's the only GI staffer on their, and its probably irrelevant in reality

Pete Hines said a while back that there could potentially be a new Elder Scrolls in 2010.

No, that was Paul Oughton. Pete Hines would never say that.

Well yeah, probably... but we're not going to get the answer by just asking him what his most anticipated game is.
Plus, we need a new focus, now that GI has let us down this month.

Sorry. SOMEONE at Bethesda said there could potentially be a new game in 2010. My point was to convey that they're definitely working on the new game, and there is no way they're gonna wait until the next generation of consoles to release it.

Is there any way to see what groups Andrew Reiner belong to? So far in the RPG category, he's only the top member of the Elder Scrolls group.

I do find it interesting that out of the shooter, RPG, and action games groups, Andrew Reiner is the top member of only one group: Elder Scrolls.

Well I took the time to look through all the game groups. Out of all the games of each genre on GameInformer's member groups site, Andrew Reiner is still only the top member of one group which is Elder Scrolls.

Wow, this has got to stop, or at the very least be dialed back several notches. The hype and posting amount was insane for this month's GI cover. Let's not make this a monthly occurrence.

Right now we learned that our trademark knowledge was misinformed, and that Bethesda can renew them pretty much as often as they want. We know that QuakeCon is 'the likely place for announcements to happen' according to Pete Hines, which could simply have been in reference to Doom 4. And we know that Bethesda currently has four titles on its plate that it will be very busy marketing for the next 6-12 months. Until we get some hints in a new interview or blog post... I really don't think we have anything at all.

But please, let's leave the next GI issue until September. It could be anything at all. At least we were correlating the August issue with our (incorrect) trademark theories. A September issue isn't speculation, it's wild and frantic hope.

Ok people I keep hearing about waiting for the next gen concoles if that is so I do give up on TES 5 every being released in my life. Why you ask because of 3D everyone in the entertainment industry is standing around waiting to see if it takes off. Is it the next big thing are just a passing thing? So you spend a ton of money writing code for 3D and it dies a quick and quite death you look like a hanger on trying to make money off a bad idea. It could be you write a good 2D game that gets lost in the hype of 3D your fans buy it sure but most of the gamers say it's only 2D boring, gamers can be a picky bunch. Can you see the problem better to make a game and release it on this gen consoles, then with the DLC's you can set back and wait, if 3D takes off or dies then you can write a new game with the new tech without risking your good name or your company. It's just my 2 cents worth but I know a lot of company's are watching the 3D move very closely.

It will always continue. People build up hype for E3 announcements, convention announcements and all sorts of things, only to then be severely disappointed when nothing happens. Personally, I can't see how they bother. I rather just wait :P

Neither Morrowind or Oblivion were announced during some special event, I don't see why TESV would be any different.

Sorry. SOMEONE at Bethesda said there could potentially be a new game in 2010. My point was to convey that they're definitely working on the new game, and there is no way they're gonna wait until the next generation of consoles to release it.

That's taken a bit out of context, though. That line is taken from years ago, and the main point was that in a perfect world they would release games in a series relatively often to keep the series in the spotlight so it never lose interest, and named Elder Scrolls and 2010 as an example.

But this isn't a perfect world. And neither is this thread, it just keeps growing but nothing new is ever said, just the same thing over and over :P

None of those are BGS games though, so now that Fallout 3 is completely done, what else do you think they're doing?

Just a reminder guys. These threads are the only way you are going to actually have your words heard out by Bethesda, regarding TESV. So if you want something in the game, this is the best chance you are going to have.

And yes, the game will be released. These threads exist for a reason.

I doubt ihey're gonna do it but I wouldn't mind AT ALL if they did that. I wouldn't be toooooooo surprised I guess and it would be a good think considering it would have all the most recent tech (something Beth needs...starting by ditching gamebryo <_< ) but it will take a while for the next gen consoles...so maybe only FO4 and TES VI I guess (damn, that's a lot of years. of waiting :P...)
