Official TES V Speculation Thread # 52

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 8:52 am

Well, they filed a new trademark for Skyrim, which means they can announce it whenever they want for the next three years.

That is a joke, right? What happened to the July 31st deadline? Just how much is Bethesda trying to cram into their new game engine?

Anyone have the timeline of when morrowind was officially announced and when it released and when oblivion was officially announced?

I think Antibody created one.

So am I missing any theories that this thread has concocted?

-snippy snipy snipper snip-

Love Theory:
-Game Informer announcement of TES V within the next three months
-TES V is left with no new information until E3 2011
-Game is set for release in November 2011
-Game is delayed and set for release in April 2012

Or there is the cosmic theory stating that we will never have TES V and I'll just die.

EDIT: I'm still very strong on the belief that we will have an announcement with a GameInformer cover.

My theory based on other people's theories:
-TES:V is revealed in November/December 2010 or early 2011 (possibly via Game Informer)
-2nd book is announced around the same time
-TES:V is shown at E3 2011 where it will be given a release date for late 2011/early 2012
-TES:V is realeased, people are happy, we begin speculation on TES:VI

The new trademark doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to wait for another three years and it was most likely filed as a safeguard.

So this is The M'aiqium Theory #2? Or do you want me to add this theory to the list anyway.

I would agree with the Maiqium, but my only problem is that Hunted: Demon's Forge doesn't release until Q1 2011, and Rage, maybe even later. SO I think that once Hunted is released, Beth will start promoting Rage for their publishing side, and TES V for their own development. So their line-up for 2011/2012 is Rage and TES V imo

Edit: misread the M'aiqium Theory #2.

Edit 2: So would you keep the late 2012 to mid 2011 as release time for TES: V for the M'aiqium #2?

They have trademarks for games and other media, so it is safe to assume that TES:V (or at least the next TES game) will be Skyrim.

The 3 Skyrim trademarks are for the game, manuals, and media.

Uh oh, look at http://www.gamesas.com/eng/links/job_052610_worldartist.html, and http://www.gamesas.com/eng/links/job_061010_worldartistcontract.html. Look at the first responsibility for the senior world artist and the second responsibility for the world artist (contractor). It says "next generation products", could this mean anything? :ahhh:

Not really sure what "new" is measured as, but this is the first time I checked the job listings in a month or so, and there are 4 jobs tagged as "new" over n'yah.

If these were already well known, feel free to flame me as applicable.

Never going to happen, sorry bro.
Your about 2 years to early.

"We do not expect the ‘next’ generation to begin before 2013, if at all". BGS would be going at least 3 years without income if the try to release it on the next gen consoles. I'm no businessman but that doesn't seem like a good idea.

Conspiracy theory:
Game was completed already, in complete secrecy, and waiting for a Late November 2010 release for the Christmas shopping blitz. An announcement will be made on Black Friday that the game is IN STORES NOW. Then I'll wake up from a turkey-induced dream.

I added it to the list of theories...page 7.

So there are many opposing theories. *= assumption based off of Bethesda timelines.
If there are any theories that you would like me to submit to the list, please say.

Nice compilation. I know this was presented in good faith and a great start, but herein lies what really aggravates me (and probably others) about the recent trends in this thread. You seem to have only included the names of those who have only since recently been involved in the these speculative discussions, and a few others wanting to "stamp" their name onto some theory. As you yourself have only been around recently, it's really no big surprise. The fact of the matter is that the real authors behind most of these theories, especially those who provided the logical foundations behind them, are nowhere to be found in this list. If you're going to seriously list the predominate theories you'd be well advised to include the names of xXAntibodyXx, Mr. Tissue Box, ThatOneGuy, and others. We all align ourselves pretty much to the same hypothesis which the M'aiqium theories most resemble. Considering this is thread 52 (with many more unofficial versions proceeding) there is a deep richness to these discussions which would inform this kind of list much better than is represented.

I sincerely am not trying to flame or offend, but am just presenting us "old timers'" perspective. :)

Ok thanks for the feedback. I'll be gone for a couple hours though so I won't update the list until I'm ready. Oh by the way if you know any theories that are different than the M'aiqiums , please say, and also type the rest of the names of the others if you want me to include them.
