Official TES V Speculation Thread # 52

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:03 pm

I cannot stress enough that I cannot reveal my source, nor can I quote it off the internet, because it isn't on the internet.

OK, fair enough. Then it is you posting mischievous and misleading information. We don't want to hear it any more thanks as there is a forum rule about such a thing.

This topic has been enough of a problem without you adding to it with conspiracy theories or the suggestion that someone has broken an NDA.

They WERE going to stick with the ps3, xbox 360, and pc.
IF it were to be released in 2010.
Now that it is NOT.
They are developing for the next consoles.

It will probably be made for current gen and then when next gen consoles come out they will release improved versions for the newer consoles, kinda like what ea sports did with fifa 09.

...And why can't you quote your 'not-on-the-internet' source? I can type up a quote of the ingredients and whatnot of the Coca Cola can sitting on my desk. Let's see... "Canned under authority of the Coca-Cola Company, Atlanta, GA 30313 by a member of the Coca-Cola Bottlers' Association, Atlanta, GA 30327."

So why can't you quote your offline source? Because it doesn't even exist?

Its clear the source doesn't exist, he's just trying to use this "source" to validate his argument

Okay, straying off topic.

Realist : a person who accepts the world as it literally is and deals with it accordingly

Anyone saying they're a realist in this thread and spewing nonsense like it's going to be released on the next gen. consoles are not helping at all. They're just trying to stir up some attention for themselves.

I'd bet my life TESV is going to be on this gen.

Repetitive spam - people who keep on dragging up "next generation". Give that one a rest now guys, it's old and trite and adding nothing to the topic.

...........not that there is anything new to add.

If Oblivion was their crowning achievement, then Morrowind must've been the work of gods indeed.

Hey guys, not to be a downer or anything here, but I think that we should probably stick with speculations instead of turning this thread into a "chat box", as some moderators would probably say. In addition, I think that we should probably wait until some more information is presented, either in the form of tweets, interviews, or other various things such as those, until we start speculating further. To make this post have actual meaning, and to not go against what I just wrote, I feel that an announcement in the next GI for TESV is unlikely, but possible. I think that an announcement at QuakeCon for TESV is also unlikely, since as stated before, that wouldn't really be the place for something like that, in my mind at least, but they said they wanted to make it bigger, so who knows, it might be possible. I notice that these speculations I made are old and have been repeated many times, but these were to make my post relevant to this thread. As for further speculation, like I said before, I think we should just wait and see until more information is presented to be speculated upon.

P.S. - If you agree with my post, please don't make a post simply stating "I agree", or anything else like that, I've seen that before here, and I think that it is a waste of a post, so if you must do that, at least put in something of value that will help with speculation.

Thank you for reading my semi-long post.

Why would they do that? What do you think the secret project is then Fallout 4?

Huh? If we should wait for further information to speculate then why is their a need for this thread? Why did you post in here? You just said this thread shouldn't exist until further info is revealed through tweets and/or other things but you said it in a much longer and different way. WOW...

Why would they do that? Well like I said because maybe they thought elder scrolls iv was their crowing achievement and at this time with the current consoles they can't make a significant jump from esv. And maybe that "secret project" has been put on hold or is something completely different.

Read next time m'kay?

I read just fine, and you clearly said maybe they put the Elder Scrolls on hold, I don't see your reasoning there. If they started working on TES:V right after Oblivion (not fully but we're fairly certain that they had at least a small group working on it) in 2006 how would they have known when the next generation would be? Here we are 4 years later and we are still unsure when it will be. Bethesda wouldn't put TES on hold indefinitely like that especially because people tend to like to see sequels at least every 5 years or the not as loyal fans will lose interest and by the time the next generation comes the people playing the games will be a whole other generation as well. TES could be, for all they know, long forgotten by the time the next generation comes out.

It is pretty clear it will not be a next gen game. So why would they put it on hold because Oblivion was their crowning achievement? If I was a game company and I made a big hit of a game, I wouldn't just quit there. I would continue with the series and make more money off of it, and I would want that money sooner rather than later so I could move on and make more games. Especially if I was sure that the more games I made the more I would sell. New IPs don't sell as well as old familiar IPs, and new IPs require more marketing. I also see no need to keep a new IP a secret, this secret project is one of two things TESV or Fallout 4, which of those two do you think is more likely?

Or something entirely new (unless they only do sequels)

But of course my hope is that it is TESV. I still hold out belief that there is a "real" reason they haven't announced even the title of the second book.

Alas, we will see

Just throwing this out there, for good or ill:

The Elder Scrolls IV: Obiivion
The Elder Scrolls V: Oblivion II?
The Elder Scrolls VI: Oblivion III?

They could be set in different provinces during the time of the Oblivion crisis, with that as a background to the main quest (rather than the main quest itself). Completing the main quest will coincide with the defeat of Mehrunes Dagon in Cyrodiil in some huge coincidence.

This started off mostly silly but I think if done right it could actually work.

I don't think they would keep it a secret like this if it was something new.

Sorry for going off topic but that reminded me of a friend who also plays OB but he's not into the TES lore or anything so you can spot him as casual player when he asked me the other day "Hey when is Oblivion II coming out?"

But about your post TES V will probably be set 200 years after the Oblivion crisis I think.

Mr. Bombastic,

care to be a little less verbose next time?

Clearly, the development of ESV was altered. We were supposed to have a game in 2010, yet we don't.
In fact, less than a year ago we were told not to expect a new ES game anytime soon.
They are waiting for the next generation of consoles.

The "don't expect it anytime soon" phrase doesn't automatically mean they're waiting for the next generation of consoles. Like it was stated before, "soon" can mean anything. It could be either months, or a couple years. You don't know that for sure.

I agree; after having read first the book, it seems that there's nothing of note that happens with the intervention of a Hero of Prophecy between the end of the Oblivion crisis and the start of the book.

Maybe Bethesda can adopt a Blizzard term:

I'll say this again: I strongly feel that the next GI issue will be Arkham Asylum 2.

I also feel that ESV will be announced in either early November or December.
