Official TES V Speculation Thread # 53

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 9:05 am

Well anyway. So these http://gamesas.com/eng/links/gamesas_jobs.html in the Bethesda Game Studios section all have "next generation products" and "future next generation products" in their responsibilities, this means nothing or...?

Its always said that. I "next generation" generally means "looks good using the latest technologies" rather than an actual generation of consoles.

....bahahahaha....

So because you didnt see a TES5 annoncement at E3 and it wasnt the August GI cover....it now isnt going to be released til 2013 (annonced 2012) with the next gen....sorry but that just makes me laugh.

Im sorry, but people saying it wouldnt be released till the next gen of consoles have as much evidence as me saying it will be annonced tomorrow.

Current gen games are called "next gen" all the time. The next gen buzzwords got tossed around so much leading up to this generation of consoles they just kind of stuck as a descriptor for this gen of console tech and games even after all three current gen consoles were released.

In addition, I've heard some games for current generation consoles be described as "a next gen title" as thought it was some sort of badge of honor thing. "We're next gen, we're play better and look better." Its the same thing as describing a game that svcks as something you expect out of a "last gen" game, as if there is some sort of hard separation between improvements in game design between the consoles, rather than generation simply applying to consoles only.

Ok, then what else are we to speculate about? I personally hope for a late 2010 announcement, but I like to present evidence from all sides of the argument.

It was Waterstones and Amazon.

45 years after the Oblivion crisis is when the book takes place. The reviewers copy said the next game would take place 200 years after Oblivion.

Sheesh...man was I way off. Thank you for the clarification.

Lots of theories...I'm going to add Khal's since its unique, to all the other theories: those are all too similar to the original theories, I'll surely add them if you add some new spice to it like Khal did. :obliviongate:

And the theory post will always be at the beginning of the thread, page 1, so I don't have to repost new versions.

I'm noticing quite a few submissions that seem to indicate more of someone's attempt at attaching their name to something as opposed to offering something truly forged through the rigors of critical discussion. It's wise that you're screening submissions.

Elder scrolls iv came out shortly after next gen hit...around 4 months after and we are now almost 5 years into this generation and still no signs of the next entry into this hallowed series? Yikes...

I much prefer (and I'm probably not alone here) that the prominent and best-reasoned general theories be represented in bipp's list as opposed to be being lost within a sea of every conceivable detailed theory. But that's just me; it's bipp's list and he can do with it as he pleases. :)

I honestly don't really care about any theories, even my own. They're not a big deal, and we're not going to care about them anyway when ESV is announced. :P

.The next book will be released in january 2011 or december 2010.
.Tes v will be announced may 2011.
.Tes v will be released in summer 2012.

Wait...two more sequels to the Infernal City...?

edit: You know now that I think about it, another sequel to the Infernal City would be plausible. Why else would they wait so long to announce the 2nd book? I bet Greg was at least done through half of the second book while the first was being published. So if they might announce TES: V with the third book, which would take place in Skyrim (I would think?), it would leave a better gap between TES: lV and V than just a mere second book. Umbriel might head to High Hrothgar for some strange reason after touring through Cyrodill (if it takes place in Skyrim).

You never know, the Inheritance books were originally planned to be three but theres going to be one more because Paolini couldn't fit his story in three books.

My mistake: I did misread it, but either way you have given us a new idea about a third Elder Scrolls book. It might play an important role with TES: V's announcement.

What if anything would suggest a third book?

He couldn't understand what you meant because your structure lacked commas, bro. :mohawk:
