Official TES V Speculation Thread # 55

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:02 am

I'm not necessarily getting my hopes up... that was just some food for thought. Don't get me wrong, I'm hoping there is validity to what we are hoping for, and yet, as it's been said before, I'm taking it with a grain of salt!

What we need to do is coerce a semi-reputable gaming news organization to claim that they have "inside information stating TESV will be announced at QuakeCon 2010". If Bethesda remains silent, then we know for sure it will be there. If they publicly dispute it, then we know it won't. Famitsu made an absurd claim that Bethesda has a surprise for E3, and Bethesda finally broke the silence affirming that they did not. Andy McNamara's tweet had the forum on the brink of revolt, and they said nothing... but no news source ever stated anything about this, we fed off our own imaginations.

The alternative is to do what we always do... wait and see.

Unfortunately, we are kind of left with the alternative unless anyone here can pull off such a scheme. I haven't any hope at all for a QuakeCon announcement, and it would really shock me if they did go that route. My training in the school of Mysticism indicates an October/November announcement anyway.

As a reminder and the reason this thread was started to begin with
at last years 2009 quake.com

Howard took a few questions from the audience but didn't give out much info on their future projects, saying only, "We are working on our next big game but we are not talking about it." Don't look a new Elder Scrolls game in the near future; Howard said there are no current plans for an "Elder Scrolls 5."

and Pete Hines had to come out and ''fix'' that statement two days later saying they were committed to the series
hence this thread began
and people started speculating...

soooo....
we will see at this years quake.com, hopefully

todd also said this in 2008

Bethesda’s Fallout 3 isn’t even out yet, and already there’s talk of when a sequel could show up — and it’s sooner than you think.

Fallout executive producer Todd Howard told Reuters that "it’s good for people to miss things," but "ten years between Fallout is a bit long," referring to the hiatus the series took following the release of Fallout 2 back in 1998.

Howard then stated that three years sounds just about right, in terms of when Fallout 4 should come out

so is the next big game FO4 or TES V and does FONV take the place of FO4, in regards to the 3 years?

I think so. Because if they actually plan on announcing Fallout 4 in 2011, well, that'd be waaay to much Fallout, even for me.

It's funny, I loved Fallout 3 more than any of the TES games I've played (Morrowind and Oblivion), but if they announced Fallout 4 before TES V, I would actually be quite angry. I really look forward to Fallout 4, but I want to see TES V first.

There is little question in my (and seemingly others) mind that the next game they are making is ES V. To me, Skyrim does seem to fall in line with what facts Bethesda has been dishing out. I base this on having just finished the Infernal City, and the events that transpire there (regarding Morrowind) all seem to lead up north toward Solthseim and Skyrim. My thought is they'll most likely announce ES V once the next ES book is finished and ready to be distributed. Considering the book has been out for some time, I suspect Quakecon wouldn't be out of the question for an annoucement.

I've seen interviews with Greg Keyes and he has been talking with the writers in regards to lore. Now of course the lore they spoke of is most likely regarding the past. However, looking at the timeline and Bethesda's track record, 2011/ 2012 will just about mark 4 years after FO3 was released (and that includes the major overhalls to Gamebryo), and this is also when I expect ES V to be released. Assuming, for a second, that they started production on ES V during the end of FO3's development, we can deduce that the story for ES V has been hashed out for quite some time. This also leads me to believe that Keyes and the Bethesda writers have been talking about the future lore as well. I think that the events that transpire in the Infernal City are far too big and culture transforming for Bethesda to not have been planning ES V.

If my predictions are right, ES V might be more political than "god-destroying-the-world," as it would appear the Empire is starting to lose it's foothold.

In short, ES V has to coming, it seems too early for FO 4 and I'm sure Bethesda is just as excited to see ES V as we are. If you want hints as to want ES V COULD BE, I highly suggest reading the Infernal City.

P.s. I know this has been posted before, but: http://www.imperial-library.info/interviews-greg-keyes

I also assume it probably will have a more political slant. With the Septim empire dead and the new emperor struggling to keep Cyrodiil in line much less even thinking about how to get the former provinces of the old empire to join together again and the old grudges being settled between the Argonians and the Dunmer, the situation lends itself to a political story.

I fully agree! I can't wait for the next book, there's a lot of threads dangling right now and I'm interested to see if any get cut. They may even have a civil war on their hands, or Tamriel World War 1. Haha.

Meh. I don't care.

I'm getting so tired of Bethesda trying to get me excited for lame video games that they're not even making. This amount of dodging is pissing me off.

The title is misleading, as no game Bethesda is advertising is truly "in the 'works".

Don't worry, they can only dodge for so long :hugs:

And they're definitely building towards something, that much is clear. TES novels, a website redesign, a Beth Blog redesign, a newsletter redesign... I'm pretty sure the only thing they own that STILL needs to be refreshed is an Elder Scrolls game.

Holy crap... you just discovered what all the devs have been working on instead of TESV!! They haven't been sitting around watching Hulu... they've been reworking Bethesda's virtual interfaces! Maybe they'll start developing a game again soon :)
if anyone takes this seriously I will have given up hope for mankind

If they've decided to commit to a monthly newsletter, then that must mean that they're going to be sharing a steady stream of information in the months ahead on games they're publishing and more importantly on games they're developing as well.

So is this newsletter going to be for only Bethesda (Game Studios and Publishing) or for Zenimax as a whole? I couldn't tell by reading that blog.

With the QuakeCon logo at the top I'd assume it would be all the brothers and sisters in the Zenimax family.

Likely for the company as a whole. Besides, the newsletter can't really be about Bethesda Game Studios considering they wont tell us what they're doing. My guess is they'll talk about their published games and Id's upcoming Doom 4 reveal.

Though I can imagine what a Bethesda Game Studios newsletter would look like. Every month it just says "Still working on a game. No, we can't tell you what it is."

In the newest Sent U A Message, a question got through that was "Is there any info on an upcoming Elder Scrolls 5?"

They just replied with a simple "No, no there isn't."

This is just a grain of sand, but these guys just seem so fishy haha.. you have to watch their body language, etc to understand.

P.S. That's the first question I've seen them answer about a game with no info out. It's also the shortest I've ever seen them answer a question.

Just thought I should let you guys know this!

EDIT: Right after thar question, they got a question about unannounced DLC, then after that, an unannounced XBLA game, and in both answers, they said they contacted those developers and got replies. They either didn't bother contacting Beth, or Beth gave them a middle finger haha.
