Official TES V Speculation Thread # 55

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:51 am

Skyrim = snow = white? Nah, I didn't think it held much water either. :P

So is this another nail in the coffin for an announcement at QuakeCon? i.e., Would it be reasonable to assume that if any info on TES V were given at Quakecon, we would see a GI cover prior?

Of course, maybe a QuakeCon announcement would herald an October TES V cover. And whatever the case, it's still unlikely that we'll see anything at Quakecon anyway.

I know Quake Con seems like an unlikely, or just outright bad place to announce an Elder Scrolls game (I certainly think it is), but Todd Howard (I think) did say that if they were going to announce something they would do it at Quake Con. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but that seems wayyy too specific for him to just be spitballing. I think Bethesda definitely has plans to show something at Quake Con, we'll just have to wait and see if it's Elder Scrolls related.

I have a feeling too that Bethesda will announce TESV. Some people for some reason think that since ID is gonna announce Doom4 supposedly, that Bethesda won't make thier own announcement. ID and Beth are partners now but are still 2 seperate companies. To me Todd Howard gave a big hint about if they were gonna announce something it would be at QuakeCon. Why else would he say that?

Here's an update from Andy McNamara from Twitter:

"Just finished up the designs with production on the next cover. I can't say what but I can say they are quite striking and mostly B&W"

I assume B&W means "black and white". If ESV were to be cover, I wonder if I can imagine it being mostly black and white.

LOL!!!! Are we gonna crap ourselves?

I don't want TES V to become an MMO since I feel it could upset many players such as myself, but it would be great if there was some sort of small online play to where you can invite people from your friendslist to maybe hang out together, kill some things.
What I mean by I don't want it to be an MMO is that I don't want there to be an option where you choose a realm, you get on and there are about 500-2000 people asking "how do I do this?" "where is this?" "help plox!?"

I wouldn't mind if it were at least a 2-player

@nat-hand
1) Why are you triple posting? There is an edit feature for a reason.
2) There is a multiplayer thread for the discussion of multiplayer.
3) Todd Howard did not say "If we announce TES:V it'll be at Quakecon." You're taking what he said completely out of context.

Ok take it easy. First off I didn't see an edit button nor was I looking for one. Second, someone else mentioned MMO and I was just replying to it. Third, I didn't take it out of context, I just typed it wrong. I know Todd said "If we had something to announce, it would be at QuakeCon." oh and sorry about triple posting. Guess Im too fast. Lets move on.

You reply, telling me to "take it easy", with an "interwebs tuf gai" attitude. Who needs to take it easy?

I "speculate" that there is no TES:V game and they are going to focus solely on the MMO that Zenimax is making.

Nevermind. I think there's apparent sarcasm there.

To me Todd Howard gave a big hint about if they were gonna announce something it would be at QuakeCon. Why else would he say that?

That was Pete Hines, not Todd Howard. Pete Hines isn't involved directly with the actual development of BGS's project. He's deals with the press, advertisemant, etc.

Here's direct confirmation the GI cover has already been revealed:

"This is a good question, and the answers are yes. RT @RampagedDeath: @GI_AndyMc Has the game been revealed yet or is it a GI exclusive ?"

OH, just kidding. Didn't read it clearly. Sorry about that.

If it makes anybody feel any better, for five minutes a day every day, I've been focusing all my telepathic ability trying to convince the folks down at Bethesda to announce the ESV. :nerd:

I'm thinking your earlier theory about the next cover being Arkham 2 fits the B+W bill quite well, whereas TES:V in B+W is hard to imagine. TES games are very much about the landscape and environments, which a B+W image would have difficulty conveying. Although... the Oblivion cover focused on character and mood rather than landscape I guess. Still, my money's on Arkham 2: Batman + Wobin.

P.S. Bethesda needs to announce the game already. The wait is literally driving me crazy. Yesterday I Googled satellite images of Bethesda Softworks too see if I could see in their windows... I've also been contemplating hiring a ninja who lives in Maryland to break into Bethesda and discover their secrets...

As someone already said, GoogleMaps will not help here, as the road where Bethesda lie is not on them.
You could snaek up to the building though and maybe wait for Todd Howard to open one of the windows and sit a newly baked pie on the sill to let it cool. You would not only be able to steal the pie, but also have a peer in to see if there are any clues inside :sadvaultboy: .

makes me feel better...i thought i was the only one doing that. but i've raised my regiment to 10 minutes a day. :hehe:

seriously, my gamer-nerd friends are starting to think i'm crazy. i've been saying "any day now" during our game-anticipation conversations for about 6 months.

Also McNamara seems to be confirming which games are NOT the cover on his Twitter. So I just asked him if it was TES V. If I don't get a response, thats a good sign???

P.S. I don't know why some people are bashing following GI covers. TES V is like 99.99999 percent sure to get a GI cover...

I wouldn't be looking at the September GI with much hope. The signs aren't looking near as good as they were for the August GI, and look how that turned out. Due to past precedent, I do feel it is extremely likely for TES V to have a GI cover...Just not soon.

Hey guys, I stumbled upon this link while browsing N4G.

Apparently they are going to have three world premiers at Gamescom 2010. :o

I'd take it with a grain of salt though..

I don't think there's anything wrong with following GameInformer as long as we don't get our hopes up so much. That latest tweet may have informed us that ESV is not the cover, as most of us probably can't imagine an ESV being mostly black and white.

This is the ESV SPECULATION thread anyway...

That's probably either AA2 or the new Kane and Lynch game. Not much else could be black and white.

Those aren't world premieres though, we already know about them and have seen them in action, I still would take it with a grain of salt.

Do we know what games they are? The article linked within that link is a bit unclear. Are the world exclusive's Fallout, Brink, and Rage?

From reading the comments, it looks like the title is misleading. There are no world exclusives.

Wasn't Brink being at E3 their big secret surprise game announcement for the expo? That was only a surprise in the context that it was surprising that they gave a game everyone already knew about for quite some time that much secrecy and hype. So world premiere doesn't mean much when Bethesda says it.

Who knows? We don't know what's going to happen. Hell, gamescom is a couple days after Quakecon. Maybe there are some announcements at Quakecon then reveals at gamescon? Anything can happen. I just wish we knew what WILL happen...
