Official TES V Speculation Thread # 55

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:01 pm

I wouldn't be looking at the September GI with much hope. ...Just not soon.

I'd really have a tough time imagining that Bethesda would announce TES V just before Fallout: New Vegas is released.

A matter of marketing. I suppose they probably wouldn't want to distract from the buzz of New Vegas.

Exactly. Once Fallout New Vegas and RAGE or Brink are outta the way, then I'll start expecting TESV news.

+1.... We wait until those out out and sold, and then I bet we get an eerie silence, with Bethesda being quite, with the exception of Hunted. Then the TES V news hit big time.

Hey guys, I stumbled upon this link while browsing N4G.

http://n4g.com/news/572011/bethesda-with-three-world-premieres-at-gamescom-2010

Apparently they are going to have three world premiers at Gamescom 2010. :o

I'd take it with a grain of salt though..

Im taking it with a grain of salt too. Are you refering to the last line of the paragraph where they talk about a business update?

So, Andy McNamara said "We did LA Noire and Max Payne 3 and we don't do covers twice."

A new Rockstar game?

xXAnitbodyXx has already responded to this line of thinking much more eloquently than I ever could, so I 'm just going to post this response:

A world where people know the difference between the companies:
Bob: Hey, did you hear about RAGE? I'm so excited!
Dave: Yeah and TES V was announced yesterday!
Bob: I can't wait for both of them!

A world where people don't know the difference, a.k.a. our world:
Bob: Hey, did you hear about RAGE? I'm so excited!
Dave: Yeah and TES V was announced yesterday!
Bob: Oh damn! I had no idea! Well, as a gamer who apparently has the attention span of a fly, I have absolutely no idea what RAGE is now that TES V has been announced. My memory of it has literally disappeared. I- oh look, a butterfly!!!!
Dave: What the hell is RAGE? I- BUTTERFLY!!!!!

The company that is making FO:NV is not the same company that is building TES V. The company that is making RAGE is not the same company that is building TES V. The company that is making Brink is not the same as the company that is building TES V.

Here's an update from Andy McNamara from Twitter:

"Just finished up the designs with production on the next cover. I can't say what but I can say they are quite striking and mostly B&W"

I assume B&W means "black and white". If ESV were to be cover, I wonder if I can imagine it being mostly black and white.

arkham asylum 2 fits that or has it already been announced? or am i talking jibberish again? i really think quakecon is going to be doom 4 and possibly the announcement of the second elder scrolls novel. oh well guess we'll see soon enough

It may be Arkham Asylum 2. I said on the forum in early July that I really thought the next cover would be AA2, and it may be that I was right. But we'll find out.

isn't bethesda softworks publishing most of these titles and also, isn't bethesda softworks the owner of bethesda developing studios? Correct me if i'm wrong but if the publisher is in charge of the publicity and sales of the titles, it would be in the interest of the publisher to maximize sales on all titles. Hence not overlap at least its own releases. Well at least not the major ones.

Just to put this into perspective, i'm currently looking forward to fable 3 and im going to get it on release day. If lionhead announced that they are also making a new game besides fable 3, then that would not affect me going and buying it on its release.
The logic just doesnt add up imo. Elder Scrolls V will be announced when its ready, which judging by the amount of time they've been working on it, should be soon.

I dont know if anyone has noticed this already, but there is an article on gamesradar.com by one Matthew Keast and in the opening paragraph he says: "...and after considering the impending 2011 release of The Elder Scrolls V..." Now this could just be speculation or an accident on his part, but what do you guys think?

IF Fo4 and TESV were to come out on the same day, sales would be bad as not everyone can afford 2 new games at the same time

If TES V were announced today, it would likely be released more than a year after any of the games I listed. There would be no overlap.

IF Fo4 and TESV were to come out on the same day, sales would be bad as not everyone can afford 2 new games at the same time

Of course this would be a dumb idea. No game publisher would release the next installments of its two best selling franchises on the same day. But there is a difference between a release and an announcement. A very big difference.

I agree with spartan. If Bethesda believes that Elder Scrolls V would compete in any way with Fallout: New Vegas, then they must not know their fanbase very well. Announcing TES V could only hamper the sales of New Vegas if they were both coming out at around the same time, which will definitely not be the case.

That said, I definitely believe that Bethesda is trying to make us forget about TES by hiding behind the titles they're publishing. To those who don't know the difference between developers and publishers, Bethesda would seem like it's been hard at work with the myriad of upcoming releases.

Throw us a bone, Bethesda. We've got 50 threads worth of anticipation for your product and you've given us no reason to be excited. It's an almost alarming display of loyalty, given the way we've been ignored for the past 4 years.

Also McNamara seems to be confirming which games are NOT the cover on his Twitter. So I just asked him if it was TES V. If I don't get a response, thats a good sign???

P.S. I don't know why some people are bashing following GI covers. TES V is like 99.99999 percent sure to get a GI cover...

I'm not bashing GI covers, I'm bashing following McNamara's twitter. It's almost certain it will be on a cover but if we keep reading what McNamara says we'll just warp what he says again and hype ourselves up, just to be disappointed.

Nobody, and I repeat, nobody, is going to see the announcement of TES V, with no release date given, and decide not to buy New Vegas, which is coming out in October, because of it. Thinking otherwise is absolutely ridiculous.

I agree, it would make no sense. Unless you only had enough money to buy one game in the next 2 years, and were saving it for TESV, it just wouldn't be logical not to buy New Vegas because of TESVs announcement.

Plus, RAGE and Brink aren't coming out until sometime in 2011. Does that mean Bethesda is going to wait until possibly Fall 2011 to announce TES V? And what if they announce even more published titles, that wont be out until 2012? Will they have to wait until after those come out to announce it? Whenever someone says that they think "TES V's announcement will screw up *enter game here's* sales," I just think "So what your saying is that Bethesda will have to take a break from publishing games for 1-2 years every time they want to announce and release a new TES or Fallout game?"

One of the Skyrim trademarks that was supposed to expire today hasn't so far. Probably tomorrow. I'm curious when Zenimax will file for the newer Skyrim trademarks to replace the the two older ones that need to be replaced.

Well remember that the trademark website doesn't update constantly, when I was there yesterday it said it hadn't updated since the 24th.

Replace? How long will that take? This isn't the same as just renewing them, is it?
