Official TES V Speculation Thread # 55

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:16 am

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1105916-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-172/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

Note that Bethesda Game Studios is NOT working on Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, Brink, or Hunted: The Demon's Forge -- Nor do they develop MMOs.

The following is a compilation of theories that have been concocted over the past few weeks in the Official TES: V Speculation Thread. I will include past predictions for anolyzing to see where we failed to meet our expectations. I will also include current predictions for further anolyzing to learn from our mistakes and fulfill our expectations, whether correct or wrong.
Thanks to all who participate in the official thread. A special thanks to the following:
xXAntibodyXx, Mr. Tissue Box, Stain, ThatOneGuy, Syltstrider, and the rest of the old-timers who got the speculation thread # 1 to where it is now. And a sincere thanks to the moderators for keeping peace in the thread and for keeping it alive.

*= assumption based off of Bethesda timelines.

The Past Predictions.

The E-threeum Theory – A theory based off the expectation of seeing a big game at a big game event, which is known as E3.
*TES: V would have been announced at (or a couple hours before the showing on the Elder Scrolls website) E3.
*The sequel to the Infernal City would have been announced not long after the conclusion of E3.
*TES: V was speculated to be released sometime between mid 2011 and early 2012.
Many rumors spread around the Internet, fueling this theory, but in the end we were doped. However Game Informer never even acknowledged the mere chance of an announcement at E3., which gave rise to the existence of the next theory…

The Informium Augustus Theory – a theory based on a tweet that stated the August cover would make fantasy fans “crap” themselves.
*TES: V would have been announced hours before the cover reveal on the Elder Scrolls website.
*The sequel to the Infernal City would have been announced on the Game Informer issue.
*TES: V would have been released sometime between mid 2011 and mid 2012.
After Dragon Age 2 was revealed to be the cover many lost hope, but there are many more theories that need speculating and arguing. Such as the following…

The Current Predictions

The Serperium Theory (Serper’s theory) - TES: V is released on the next generation consoles. This theory is based off of an unknown and offline source that has yet to be revealed…
*The sequel to Infernal City is announced along with release date in late 2010/early 2011.
*The announcement of Elder Scrolls V would most likely take place sometime in 2011.
* TES: V shown at E3 2012.
*The release will be between late 2012 and mid 2013 on the new platforms.

The M’aiqium Theories
In honor of M’aiq
As of now the following two theories are what the some of the experienced speculators are aligned with at the moment (such as xXAntibodyXx, Stain, ThatOneGuy and etc.)

The M'aiqium Theory #1 (the majority) – TES: V is released on the current generation consoles.
*TES V is announced at Quakecon with an issue in the September cover of Game Informer (2010).
*The sequel to Infernal City is announced along with release date in late 2010/early 2011.
*TES: V is shown at E3 2011.
*Release sometime in 2012 on current generation platforms.

The M'aiqium Theory #2 (the majority) – TES: V is released on current generation consoles.
*TES: V is announced sometime between late 2010 and mid 2011.
*The sequel to Infernal City is announced along with release date (maybe) with TES: V if announced in late 2010 or early 2011.
*TES: V is shown at E3 2011 (maybe shown at E3 2012 too?)
*Release sometime in 2012 on current generation platforms.

The Faelianium Theory (or as some like to call the "Cosmic" Theory) (a minor part of the minority) – TES: V is never announced. Oblivion was Bethesda Game Studio's crowning achievement and will go down in history as a legend (along with Morrowind).
The sequel to Infernal City is lost to the halls of Apocrypha.
Oblivion and Morrowind will become so heavily modded some might even call them sequels to their original games.
We will all die without ever playing the Elder Scrolls V.

The Conspiracy Theory (Kristoffer’s theory) - Game was completed already, in complete secrecy, and waiting for a late November 2010 release for the Christmas shopping blitz. An announcement will be made on Black Friday that the game is IN STORES NOW.

The Mr. Tissue Box Theory – in the last couple of threads, Mr. Tissue Box was tweeting with a Game Informer employee about September’s magazine cover. The September magazine may not be TES: V after all, but Batman: Arkham Asylum 2. This would interfere with the acclaimed M’aiqium Theory #1.

The Confoundus Theory (Khal_of_the_sands' theory) gamesas will try something completely new and unpredictable for the game announcement to keep up with past traditions of surprise and secrecy, TES: V will be announced in a place no one will be looking.
Possible places that announcement may take place include, but are not limited to the following:

Magazines or articles which aren't watched very carefully,
Foreign magazines (magazines outside of the USA and Europe),
Law articles and magazines (a tribute to the hard-work of TES: V speculators),
Comic, fantasy, sci-fi and other conventions (any place a geek or gamer has a chance of appearing),
A bulletin on the door of gamesas offices HQ,
Sports channel commercials.

The basis of the theory is that TES: V will come out in a way which no one will expect.

If there are any theories that you would like me to submit to the list, please feel free to say.

I wish someone would interview Todd Howard (or Pete Hines) again about specifics in game technology they're focusing on. It's the closest thing we get to an announcement of a game.

@bipp - E-threeum? :rolleyes:

I saw something interesting in the latest issue of GI(DA2 cover). On page 9, there's a pic of Bethesda's own Todd Howard at dinner with some people. Among those people were two GI employees, one of which was Andrew Reiner. Remembering back, and correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Mr. Tissue Box get in contact with Andrew Reiner about TES V and Reiner asked, via Twitter, if the game was even in development? I took that as fishy at the time judging by the fact that anyone with half a brain can reasonably assume TES V has been in development since Fallout 3 was finished. Now there's a pic of the two at dinner. Apparently they are friends. What do you think they talked about? Maybe they met up to discuss TES V for a future issue of the mag? The subject of TES V had to have come up at least once during their dinner, right? I mean Reiner's a fan after all(top member of GI online's Elder Scrolls group)...

P.S. Bethesda needs to announce the game already. The wait is literally driving me crazy. Yesterday I Googled satellite images of Bethesda Softworks too see if I could see in their windows... I've also been contemplating hiring a ninja who lives in Maryland to break into Bethesda and discover their secrets...

I need help... or an announcement... preferably an announcement.

The question reiner asked mr tissue is pretty common so I think he has no clue.

I'm honestly impressed with how tight-lipped Bethesda employees are. It just seems that there would be a friend of an employee somewhere, or a family member that is obsessed as we are with these games that would ask them repeatedly until they finally said, "alright, you can't tell anyone but....".

I'm sure Bethesda has meetings with their employees to discuss how seriously they take confidentiality and they are all aware that there are severe repercussions for discussing any future games before they are announced.

And yes, I'd like to hire a ninja as well.

Thats very interesting. I'm sure thier entire conversation wasn't about how each of thier family was doing. And I doubt they were discussing the August 2011 issue cover. There's something grilling on the BBQ and dinner will be served soon. "There's a charge in the air. Can you feel it?"

So tomorrow, one of the Skyrim trademarks will die. Not that it much matters anymore, but just an FYI in case people care :)

We actually are feeding off scraps at the moment. The only bit of hope is Quakecon, but that seems like a grand doom 4 reveal. So us lot are left with nothing (as usual).
Seriously there better not be a long wait time after announcement. All of our predictions have been wrong so far (gi etc), because they are so good at keeping the lid on things. Its probably a blessing in disguise though, as they can queitly get on with making the game, untill the announcement. Then things get stressful for them.

I don't want TES V to become an MMO since I feel it could upset many players such as myself, but it would be great if there was some sort of small online play to where you can invite people from your friendslist to maybe hang out together, kill some things.
What I mean by I don't want it to be an MMO is that I don't want there to be an option where you choose a realm, you get on and there are about 500-2000 people asking "how do I do this?" "where is this?" "help plox!?"

No certainly does not... it is just that even if it dies, they can apply for another and still have plenty of time without worrying about a single thing.

While the theory is solid, there still are some things wrong with it. If you didn't notice, the months listed are more than half the months in the year. It lists 7 months. The possibility of this being a simple coincidence is quite high in my opinion. Plus, why would Bethesda create a pattern to follow? It does not make that much sense to me.

Other than those two bits of skepticism that's the best pattern Ive seen so far; on these forums and off I have seen about 8 of them.

I certainly did notice the fact that it's more than half of the year. But what I was trying to get at is the fact that for 10 years, during the remaining 5 months absolutely nothing happened. No announcements, no releases, no nothing. All of their activity, of which there is a good amount, is centered on those 7 months. I don't think they created a pattern to follow, I think that for some reason or another they just prefer those months. Everything except March is easily explainable though. Why so many things happened in March is a mystery to me.

I've checked numerous times to see if their street has gotten Street View yet. Last time I checked, it hadn't. So the only way to see inside the building is to actually go there. :sadvaultboy:

Yeah, either tomorrow or July 31st, I'm still not sure which yet. Yeah, it doesn't matter anymore, but still, we were so obsessed about the trademarks that I can't help but keep track of when they expire.

TES V wont be an MMO. Bethesda Games Studios does not make MMOs, as they've said themselves. Zenimax Online, however, does make MMOs, and chances are very good that it's a TES MMO. But just because a TES MMO is coming doesn't mean it's TES V.

I know Quake Con seems like an unlikely, or just outright bad place to announce an Elder Scrolls game (I certainly think it is), but Todd Howard (I think) did say that if they were going to announce something they would do it at Quake Con. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but that seems wayyy too specific for him to just be spitballing. I think Bethesda definitely has plans to show something at Quake Con, we'll just have to wait and see if it's Elder Scrolls related.

Here's an update from Andy McNamara from Twitter:

"Just finished up the designs with production on the next cover. I can't say what but I can say they are quite striking and mostly B&W"

I assume B&W means "black and white". If ESV were to be cover, I wonder if I can imagine it being mostly black and white.

I think it'd be wise if we stopped watching McNamara's twitter. We can warp pretty much anything he says to fit TES V if we try hard enough.

If he does mean black and white then I personally really doubt it's TES V.

I don't think there's anything wrong with following GameInformer as long as we don't get our hopes up so much. That latest tweet may have informed us that ESV is not the cover, as most of us probably can't imagine an ESV being mostly black and white.

This is the ESV SPECULATION thread anyway...
