Official TES V Speculation Thread # 56

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:03 am

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1105916-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-172/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

Note that Bethesda Game Studios is NOT working on Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, Brink, or Hunted: The Demon's Forge -- Nor do they develop MMOs.

Wanted to make sure this got on the first page. All credit goes to Bipp for his work in compiling the information herein. (Hope you don't mind, Bipp.)

The following is a compilation of theories that have been concocted over the past few weeks in the Official TES: V Speculation Thread. I will include past predictions for anolyzing to see where we failed to meet our expectations. I will also include current predictions for further anolyzing to learn from our mistakes and fulfill our expectations, whether correct or wrong.
Thanks to all who participate in the official thread. A special thanks to the following:
xXAntibodyXx, Mr. Tissue Box, Stain, ThatOneGuy, Syltstrider, and the rest of the old-timers who got the speculation thread # 1 to where it is now. And a sincere thanks to the moderators for keeping peace in the thread and for keeping it alive.

*= assumption based off of Bethesda timelines.

The Past Predictions.

The E-threeum Theory – A theory based off the expectation of seeing a big game at a big game event, which is known as E3.
*TES: V would have been announced at (or a couple hours before the showing on the Elder Scrolls website) E3.
*The sequel to the Infernal City would have been announced not long after the conclusion of E3.
*TES: V was speculated to be released sometime between mid 2011 and early 2012.
Many rumors spread around the Internet, fueling this theory, but in the end we were doped. However Game Informer never even acknowledged the mere chance of an announcement at E3., which gave rise to the existence of the next theory…

The Informium Augustus Theory – a theory based on a tweet that stated the August cover would make fantasy fans “crap” themselves.
*TES: V would have been announced hours before the cover reveal on the Elder Scrolls website.
*The sequel to the Infernal City would have been announced on the Game Informer issue.
*TES: V would have been released sometime between mid 2011 and mid 2012.
After Dragon Age 2 was revealed to be the cover many lost hope, but there are many more theories that need speculating and arguing. Such as the following…

The Current Predictions

The Serperium Theory (Serper’s theory) - TES: V is released on the next generation consoles. This theory is based off of an unknown and offline source that has yet to be revealed…
*The sequel to Infernal City is announced along with release date in late 2010/early 2011.
*The announcement of Elder Scrolls V would most likely take place sometime in 2011.
* TES: V shown at E3 2012.
*The release will be between late 2012 and mid 2013 on the new platforms.

The M’aiqium Theories
In honor of M’aiq
As of now the following two theories are what the some of the experienced speculators are aligned with at the moment (such as xXAntibodyXx, Stain, ThatOneGuy and etc.)

The M'aiqium Theory #1 (the majority) – TES: V is released on the current generation consoles.
*TES V is announced at Quakecon with an issue in the September cover of Game Informer (2010).
*The sequel to Infernal City is announced along with release date in late 2010/early 2011.
*TES: V is shown at E3 2011.
*Release sometime in 2012 on current generation platforms.

The M'aiqium Theory #2 (the majority) – TES: V is released on current generation consoles.
*TES: V is announced sometime between late 2010 and mid 2011.
*The sequel to Infernal City is announced along with release date (maybe) with TES: V if announced in late 2010 or early 2011.
*TES: V is shown at E3 2011 (maybe shown at E3 2012 too?)
*Release sometime in 2012 on current generation platforms.

The Faelianium Theory (or as some like to call the "Cosmic" Theory) (a minor part of the minority) – TES: V is never announced. Oblivion was Bethesda Game Studio's crowning achievement and will go down in history as a legend (along with Morrowind).
The sequel to Infernal City is lost to the halls of Apocrypha.
Oblivion and Morrowind will become so heavily modded some might even call them sequels to their original games.
We will all die without ever playing the Elder Scrolls V.

The Conspiracy Theory (Kristoffer’s theory) - Game was completed already, in complete secrecy, and waiting for a late November 2010 release for the Christmas shopping blitz. An announcement will be made on Black Friday that the game is IN STORES NOW.

The Mr. Tissue Box Theory – in the last couple of threads, Mr. Tissue Box was tweeting with a Game Informer employee about September’s magazine cover. The September magazine may not be TES: V after all, but Batman: Arkham Asylum 2. This would interfere with the acclaimed M’aiqium Theory #1.

The Confoundus Theory (Khal_of_the_sands' theory) gamesas will try something completely new and unpredictable for the game announcement to keep up with past traditions of surprise and secrecy, TES: V will be announced in a place no one will be looking.
Possible places that announcement may take place include, but are not limited to the following:

Magazines or articles which aren't watched very carefully,
Foreign magazines (magazines outside of the USA and Europe),
Law articles and magazines (a tribute to the hard-work of TES: V speculators),
Comic, fantasy, sci-fi and other conventions (any place a geek or gamer has a chance of appearing),
A bulletin on the door of gamesas offices HQ,
Sports channel commercials.

The basis of the theory is that TES: V will come out in a way which no one will expect.

If there are any theories that you would like me to submit to the list, please feel free to say.

As suspected, Zenimax filed for another new trademark for Skyrim, thus they will likely do this for all of the upcoming expirations. This one was filed on 7/27 and is for: Clothing, namely, shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, fleece pullovers, jackets; headwear, namely, hats.

Sufficed to day, I don't think we need to visit the USPTO any longer :)

Gstaff was right. There was nothing "In The Works." At least in the one sense of it not being in the newsletter of the same name. Perhaps it was wordplay to make an announcement seem all the better, but perhaps not. We'll see. If it isn't announced there, I expect an announcement near to the book's release.

EDIT: Sylt, realize all that merchandise is the kind of stuff you'd see at a convention booth?

Just a re-post from the last thread:

a slip of the tongue implying that they're working on something new

Bethesda Gaming Studios has already said that they are working on a "secret project." Since this is BGS and not Bethesda Softworks, that means they're making a game. And since they just made Fallout 3, that game they're currently making is 99% likely to be TES V, .8% FO4, and .2% a new IP.

So yay, we can all be happy! ^_^

Interesting observation but they've had those trademarks for a while now, it was assumed that they would renew all of the Skyrim trademarks.

i'm thinking with little doubt that Breckon's tweet means we're getting ReSpawn's first game announcement... or, god forbid, they are actually working on a new IP and having respawn do a new ES game... which they couldn't because Bethesda would want to publish it, and EA has an exclusivity contract, right?

If Bethesda went to another company to make an ES game, the last place they would want to look for would be former Infinity Ward employees. Plus, I'm not sure what EA has to do with any of that.

Edit: Oh, just read the thing on the deal with EA. nvm...

It could be a Respawn's announcement but isn't it a bit strange that shortly after they signed a publishing agreement with EA they would decide to announce their very first game ever in a competitor's event?

You guys really need to stop with all these nonsense theories. None of them have any basis in solid evidence; they're poorly formed speculations based on rumors and circumstances. There are maybe two out of the whole list that even contain enough true speculation to belong in this thread TBH. And even if one of them "comes true" it will be a coincidence, not the result of brilliant deductive reasoning.

If you do insist on keeping them, is it too much to ask that they be renamed to something more befitting of their actual identity? "Theory" implies some form of deduction, understanding, explanation, and successful implementation; many of those are 0/4 in this regard and none of them exhibit more than a couple of the qualities. For the most part, they are not theories; they're shots in the dark. Most of them are not even speculative in nature because they spawned from pure instinct or hope rather than even a shred of something that could be considered even circumstantial evidence, let alone solid evidence.

And it's even more annoying because if one of them by some chance happens to be right (which is quite possible more because collectively they cover so many different possibilities than because they are well-reasoned) then that person will be praised and respected by anyone involved on the theories, which of course would be a joke. Again there are maybe two theories on there that contain enough deduction to even belong in this thread, IMO. Or maybe that index just doesn't list all of the evidence that led to each theory being formed, and I missed the original posts... In which case they should probably have their own thread anyway so as not to detract from this thread, which seems to be here for us to discuss individual pieces of evidence and how they may relate to the game, rather than a place to discuss other people's beliefs of the significance of collective pieces of evidence and potentially give new evidence a backseat to these "theories."

I was thinking the same thing. The deal was announced on April 12, just over three months ago. Anything could have happened during that short period.

Then don't post, I guess. We'll keep Wildly Guessing in a Massive variety and have our pre-announcement fun while you go do whatever it is you choose to do to occupy your free time.

Kinda gotta agree with you, all these threads are getting pretty silly and ridiculous. It's almost to the point where I wish they would close them down, all it's doing is raising peoples post count. Nothing has been solved yet. Nothing.

I'm not saying you can't have your fun, I'm just saying it doesn't belong in this thread. I gave several reasons why in my post, so if you disagree let's here your rebuttals.

I think a new thread would be a win/win because you guys can expand that index and discuss each "theory" without new speculation discussion getting in the way, and it would be easier to keep track of changes. Of course I'm assuming a mod would have to give permission for that so I guess it may not be up to you or me.

While breaking the thread up might allow you to be at peace with the wacky-baseless theory pvssyr which seems to be the crux of your annoyance, at the moment that is where these things have to be. And according to actual facts, we know only this: Todd hopes to have another Elder Scrolls game one day. That is all we know. Right now, this is what is in the description of the thread:

"This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such."

They do appear to be very different ideals so I would support that, but I wonder how long the "post new information" thread can live without being corrupted by wild speculation since we are at the end of the day left knowing that: Todd hopes to have another Elder Scrolls game one day.

That line might get stale quickly, and all the insane and wild theory talk amongst the people who are just having some fun, ya know, not making too much out of this cause ya gotta realize this is a video game after all, not the cure for cancer we are speculating about. We don't really need the scientific method here :)

You need something. And you have nothing. Out of the one statement that Todd Howard made, saying he hopes to have another TES game in the future, we've gotten absolutely no where. I rode this horse just as you all are, but at one point you gotta realize the horse is dead.

TES V is coming eventually, and this is where we pointlessly speculate about it until Bethesda decides to announce it. As far as that's concerned this thread serves it's purpose very well.

Yes, but no one is asking you to read this thread. If you are bothered by the nothingness and the insane and wild baseless drivel that is this thread you can leave it behind and wait for something to come from Bethesda before worrying about it :) It doesn't do any one any good to get upset at this thread for having fun speculating about the possibilities and the wild imaginings that stem from grasping at straws. I honestly laughed out loud when I read someone was actually peeved that people were speculating without any facts to go on, since that is the actual point of this thread so long as there are no facts :)

All you have to do is look at the title of these threads... "Official TES V Speculation Thread."

Everyone is speculating in different ways... this thread isn't "official thread for provable information about TES:V." If you don't like whats happening in this thread, post in another one.

How about we start speculating again hmm? The past ten posts, besides for one of Bonemasters, have been talking about why or why not his thread is worth while.

This is really funny. If all the Elder Scrolls Forumsians were on an island, we could form our clans of nihilists and pointilists; then off of that, form guilds like the dark brotherhood to fight one another..

Anyways I found a Russian article with quotes that may be new or old or fake.
Feast for your own eyes, I dont know the answers.

http://mgnews.ru/read-news/todd-howard-o-the-elder-scrolls-5-1007311006

It's in Russian so Google Chrome can translate. Ill let you fairy tale heroes find out your own magic.

Edit: I dont really understand what's being stated throughout it all but I did find it funny that searching through TES V on Google News brings up, 'Customers who bought a Male mastvrbator kit also bought TES IV'
