Official TES V Speculation Thread # 57

Yah, I forgot about that. Anyways i am pretty sure most of us thought that three Fallouts on a single generation console is a bit much eh? I think that Bethesda knows that too.

I don't know if this has been said yet, but in the Making of Fallout 3 dvd Todd talks about how he'd like to alternate between doing TES and Fallout. So that might be a little more proof they're doing TES and not Fallout.

Thats cool. We'll most likely see FO4 on the next gen.

Anyone want to get warned for posting a link to a copyright infringing video, on the copyright holder's own website? :P

But yeah, I've never watched it but I think you know where to find it yourself...

It's pretty much stating the obvious, though. Are people really expecting that Bethesda would have made Fallout 3, gave the rights to Obsidian to make New Vegas, and start work on Fallout 4?

You'd think it was obvious, and I've been saying it for a while now, but there are a lot of people on this forum who think otherwise. Usually Fallout fans who refuse to think logically about it, though.

Yup

Then when you tell them it's ridiculous to expect it they'll say "Well EA is already doing Dragon Age 2 so it's possible"

It's already been a four year wait since the last game.. Either the TES series has been scrapped for Fall Out or Bethesda are not bothering to announce their actually making it and making their fans lose patience

Many people forget that it is also less than two years since Fallout 3. There is no chance that the TES series has been scrapped and I am sure that Bethesda care more about when is the right time to announce than we do.

Why would Bethesda make Fallout 3, give Fallout New Vegas to Obsidian and get 2 elder scrolls books to be written about the 4th era when they could of just said that Oblivion was the last Elder Scrolls game seeing as it was a sort of last game with the whole Daedric invasion and the Septim bloodline ending

Bethesda Softworks started working on Fallout 3 in July 2004 with Fallout 3 uses a version of the same Gamebryo engine as Oblivion.

February 2007, Bethesda stated that the game was "a fairly good ways away" from release, but that detailed information and previews would be available later in the year

A teaser site for the game appeared on May 2, 2007

A timer counting down to June 5, 2007. When the countdown finished, the site hosted the first teaser trailer for the game, and unveiled a release date of "Fall 2008"

Game released in North America Oct 28, 2008.

If Bethesda follows a similar scripiting, we're talking about 1 year 9 months from the time they start talking about it openly before the game is available. Since it's likely they start with a new game engine, it would explain the longer delay. It could very easily be middle to late 2012. Once again, with these lengthy delay times, new consoles could easily be moving into implementation by the time this is releasing. I believe I said this months ago on this speculation board...........still no word, eh?

Both Todd and Pete have clearly indicated a return to TES. Why would they "scrap" their most successful IP?

Pete: "Hey Todd, what do you think for the next Elder Scrolls?"
Todd: "I dunno...I think it's getting too popular and we've made way too much money."
Pete: "You're right. Let's just scrap the series and start over."
Todd: "Great idea, Pete! I've got some great ideas about a horse-racing game..."

Yes, if there's one unfortunate internet stereotype that can't be disproven, it's this overly inflated sense of entitlement and of "not now=not ever" in online communities. Just because we aren't playing the game now doesn't mean it will never be made, just because Bethesda don't pander to your specific interests doesn't mean the series has sold out, and them taking the time to make their game on their schedule is not tantamount to giving the fanbase the finger.

Just a general reminder :D

Just as it keeps coming up in this thread, fallout 3 outsold oblivion by quite a bit i remember reading. But thats probably because there was twice as much people with xboxs/ps3 in 2008 as from 2006. So technically fallout shone gold for bethesda on there first attempt at it.

On topic: We'l get some info at Quakecon, because they are quite aware of the bombardment of elder scrolls questions ready to fire. Oh, and when its announced, prepare for an army of new members to deal with :)

Ugh, just think of all the times we are going to have to explain the difference between Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios.

Lol. I've played Morrowind and Oblivion and I still don't know why Imperials aren't called Humans.
