They haven't had a Quake game in five years, why is there a Quake convention?

To announce TES:V. Duh. Why doesn't that completely illogical concept make sense to you? Noob.

For starters it was an id convention, but now it's a Zenimax/Bethesda/id convention. And it's called QuakeCon because lots of duders go there to play Quake.

Because QuakeCon rolls off the tongue better than IdCon.

In your opinion...

2011 for release of TES V?
2012 release?

Or is 2011 and 2012 equally likely?

Well, first I'd have to disabuse you of the notion that such a thing can be an opinion. Speculation and prediction are not the same as opinion.

Second, I'd have to say that there is no possible way of knowing with present information. That being said, 2012 is by far the more likely, given the pattern of past announcements and releases.

I'm leaning more to 2012 with your reply and from past press releases. Also, the lack of an official announcement so far.

I'd say fall 2011 is the time for TES 5.

Depends on whether or not they started working on it during Fallout 3. If so, I think a 2011 release is possible, if not or not much, than 2012 seems the more likely.

I used to think late 2011/early 2012. I'm leaning more towards early 2012, now.

Credit goes to Antibody for this information (lovely chart http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/1795/timeline11.png):

Morrowind was released 2 years, 2 months after it was announced.
Oblivion was released 1 year, 6 months after it was announced.
Fallout 3 was released 4 years after it was announced, but only a year after the first info (trailer) was released.

I'd say that even if it were announced this weekend (and let's face it, that's probably not going to happen), it probably wouldn't be released for at least a year and a half. 2012 seems more likely than 2011.

IF they follow some sort of pattern which they most likely aren't.

So quake con is coming up. Just a hypothetical question...and nothing based on any *ahem* real facts, but if key members of Bethesda Softworks (developing side) were attending quake con, would you find it suspicious and start drawing straws?

Who made you grand marshal of the wet blanket parade? Seriously, you seem to have made it your personal mission to see to it that all positive discussion is suffocated by your spewing negativity. By all means share your disagreements, but please do so in the spirit of moving the discussion forward rather than killing it altogether. You're frustrated with baseless, random speculation and the subsequent disappointments. We get it. ...not trying to be offensive, but for the last several threads your posts have taken this negative tone that serves little contribution to the discussion.

As for Quakecon, I don't see it being the place for TES:V's announcement. There's just not enough background pvssyr to convince me that it will happen here.

An audience Q&A?

Well, we can expect an huge amount of TESV questions.

:D That's gotta be a good sign.

I think they read this for laughs 'cause we're probably wicked far off, or we're so close but they can't help but read and see if we've figured it out yet.

Well in order to do that either it would be really amazing or epically terrible. 50/50 chance sounds good to me.

Plus I could take time off to play it nonstop with no consequences!

I guess the only downside would be, like, the end of the world.

Tell me something, Stain.
What exactly about making a joke about the Mayans and TES:V is viewed by you as negativity?
To be fair, you're right, I have been frustrated with the lack of ANY EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER in the last 50 something threads, and people calling that "meaningful discussion".
I'll ease up, if you it's making you mad. But only for you.
