Official TES V Speculation Thread # 57

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 4:54 am

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1105916-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-172/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

Note that Bethesda Game Studios is NOT working on Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, Brink, or Hunted: The Demon's Forge -- Nor do they develop MMOs.

" [...] Yet this year, the software developer Bethesda wants to provide with Elder Scrolls V for another milestone in the saga. Panini publishes for the game's release the first official novel."

http://paninicomics.de/the-elder-scrolls-band-1-die-hllenstadt-i6767.html

This is an interesting find. I am inclined to group it with the other book publishing gaffes last year, which claimed that the books bridged the gap between Oblivion and TES:V. I think they're embellishments based on credible information. However, it's difficult to eviscerate much distinction between exaggeration and fact.

What I'm anxious for someone to uncover is information pertaining to the second book.

There is no basis for "Shadowrealm" and no one here believes that will be TES:V. Currently "Skyrim" seems to be the best bet due to recent trademark activity.

I know there were a few members last month who were looking forward to the cover of the september issue of Game Informer. It was released today and the cover is the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum, as many people accurately predicted.

What I'm anxious for someone to uncover is information pertaining to the second book.

Haven't heard anything on the second book. Then again, it hasn't even been a full year since the last was published. Still looking forward to it though.

Oh my God Bethesda it's been somewhere around 4 long years since Oblivion and [censored] 57 threads of speculation along with another billion suggestion/wish threads. Is the airconditioning at Bethesda Softworks releasing some kind off sleeping gas at office or do they just hate their fans? I cant help to notice Acticivision, Rockstar and Ubisoft are throwing overpriced games and DLC' at us year after year.

Even tho a game like Oblivion or Morrowind is a little more complicated than lets say the russian/muslim hating games Activison produces, you would think that Bethesda would somehow manage to produce a screenpicture or an annoncement line between now and since the last Fallout 3 DLC. Accordoing to my brain Tod Howard made so much money off those two games that he was sitting naked on the companie' copymachine with a party-hat. So I can safely pressume that they have enough money to hier enough people to do another TES game. Off course unless they all are sleeping at work.

Bethesda doesn't release screenshots or trailers for games they aren't ready to reveal yet. They will when they are ready, simple as that.
Apparently, they aren't ready. So we wait.

btw how long has fallout new vegas been in production? seeing how its being released this october, im pretty sure it wouldnt have been in production for as long as Beths project, which makes me think this next game will have loads of content.

ps: your right, all fallout is to me is a piece of [censored] that has delayed elder scrolls 5 by at least 2 years.

Don't worry guys, it'll be released on December 22nd, 2012. One day before Roland Emmerich blows up the planet :nuke: for his latest disaster movie as predicted by the Mayans. So we'll have 1 day to play it at least!

I don't see why you would add the "Adventure" elder scrolls games (as if they even hindered development that much), but left Fallout 3, a full game, out.

I really hope that this long wait is for a good reason, though.

Maybe that's why TESV won't be considered overpriced when it comes out, and it'll hold people over for the length the next 3-5 friggin Activision titles.

Or perhaps it will be released on the 24th, with the Mayan's prediction tying in with the bible's Revelations, cleansing the world to build heaven on Earth. A world where we can all play TES:V uninterrupted. No jobs, no school, no bills, and with a cluster of http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1342/534209210_03baac6f04_o.jpg crawling over our bellies as we play!

On topic: I wouldn't be surprised to hear about the second book at QuakeCon. They must know they're going to get asked about TES:V, so they must be preparing counter-measures and answers. Providing us with a release date for the book, even if it's just an estimation, at least gives the fans something to take home from the event. Perhaps that's why they've been so quiet on the book front? Saving it as a 'get out of TES:V questions free' card?

Arguing over how long Bethesda is taking with TES V isn't going to get us anywhere, guys. We all know how long it's been.

Thats 4 years between Redguard and Morrowind, 4 years between Morrowind and Oblivion. So we can assume that it takes 4 years from project start to complete a modern TES game. Beth's current project started after Fallout 3's release.

2008: Fallout 3

2012: TES V

O_o I dont like the thought of it, but it seems most likely.

Rumor wise:
  • I've read speculations of the game being released in 2011, though I would think there would be an official announcement by now if it were to be early in the coming year.

  • There are also rumors that Armor Games will be developing the new edition to the series, but I haven't found any evidence or speculated release date on this. This is likely a joke considering Armor Games deals in Flash gaming, nothing like the Elder Scrolls medium.

Logical Speculation:
  • Fallout: New Vegas was developed by Obsidian while Bethesda has simultaneously been developing Fallout 4, leaving time to work on a few other projects.

  • The release of Elder Scrolls games averages every 2-3 years, and considering the depth of both Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, its likely we will see the release of Elder Scrolls V after the release of Fallout 4.

  • However its possible, with the completion of three other projects due to release in 2011, that Bethesda will turn its focus on completing Doom 4, Fallout 4, and Elder Scrolls V for release as soon as possible.

  • I think a logical assumption would be a 2012 - 2013 release date, but you never know - maybe they will pleasantly surprise us!

Ultimately, we would all appreciate it if they would go ahead and announce their production plans. However, after such a long wait, fans are going to have high expectations for Elder Scrolls V.

After Daggerfall Bethesda split up into three teams Battlespire, Redgaurd, and Morrowind. After awhile the Morrowind team was completely split up to help finish the other two games. It wasn't till after the those two games were finished that the full team got together to work on Morrowind. So those two games did hinder development a lot.

It is entirely too early to even be thinking about Fallout 4, unless Bethesda is made of clueless idiots, there is no chance it will be released before TESV.

That was from an april fools joke that, while obviously fake, people actually fell for, which is where this "rumor" came from.

Logical Speculation:
[list]

[*]Fallout: New Vegas was developed by Obsidian while Bethesda has simultaneously been developing Fallout 4, leaving time to work on a few other projects.

[*]The release of Elder Scrolls games averages every 2-3 years, and considering the depth of both Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, its likely we will see the release of Elder Scrolls V after the release of Fallout 4.

How does it make even a shred of sense that they'd be focusing on Fallout 4 while Obsidian makes New Vegas. They almost certainly focusing on TES V and doing a bit of Falout 4 development while Obsidian handles Fallout. Bethesda let Obisidian make a Fallout game because they knew they'd be working on TES V, not because they wanted to work on Fallout 4.

Also, Bethesda isn't doing Doom 4, Id is.

When was it announced that Beth even started any production on TES V?

Just saying...

But from the interviews I've read with the devs at Obsidian, it's almost certain they're at least planning Fallout 4. Likewise, the fact that Obsidian is even developing a Fallout game makes it pretty clear Bethesda is focusing on TES V right now.

Got me there. What if I was to say that I have my own sources (which I honestly do) that has a contact within BGS and that person can only tell so much. I know a few things myself and even if I were to mention those things, it would just be considered speculation. LMK and I will tell you what I know.

To be perfectly honest, whenever someone says they have "secret" sources, I pass them off as attention seekers and nothing more. I don't mean to offend you, it's just that people who say that remind me of the type of kids in elementary school who would say they were a secret agent or something. Don't get me wrong, you certainly may be telling the truth, but I and most people here wont believe you. If you'd like, you can say what you know, but be warned that nobody is going to take what you say with more than a grain of salt.

Good thing I didn't use the word "secret". And no I'm not offended nor am I seeking attention. I understand about posting about something and people not believing which is why I won't post unless someone is curious. Im as skeptical as anyone here about anything. I still see a QuakeCon announcement as a 50/50.
