Official TES V Speculation Thread # 58

Is it seriously too hard for Howard to get up on stage, say "yes", then walk off?

He could do that, but I'd question his sanity if he did. Wouldn't it be better (and far saner) for him to get up and talk about games?

This is Quake Con. I thought it would be kinda funny if Todd walked up on stage and enthusiastically said (whilst punching the air) "Well folks! We ARE making Elder Scrolls V and it's going to be out next year" then stop and wait for the applaud, but there is only silence...........
.........
............
...............
Then one guy from the back says......
"What about Quake V dude?"

I'd love to see Todd come up with a huge stack of papers, stand at the podium, clear his throat, stare at every single person in the crowd one at a time, take a deep breath, nod, and only say "Yes, we are."

And that'd be the conclusion of the press conference.

*sigh* guys we know that Quakecon isn't exactly TES central in terms of the people that go there. Most people that go are Doom and Quake and the-like fans, not TES-style fantasy. While the 'Beth might want to introduce more people to come to Quakecon from the TES fanbase' theory still stands, if they really did want to do that they would have made some sort of notification so TES fans would go.

As far as I can see, raising your hopes for Quakecon might not be the best idea :nope:

Eh, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Maybe it's a reverse event. When we all had our hopes up for an early July announcement, we were devistated(or I was, at least). When we don't have our hopes up, we get the surprise of a 4 1/2 year long lifetime. Therefore, I can get my hopes up again! Elder Scrolls, Elder Scrolls, Elder Scrolls, Elder Sc- Elder Sc- Eld- Why, Todd? Does an Oblivion gate need to open up on your front lawn for you to get the message?! I can arrange for that to happen if I must. Never underestimate a starving, overly-obsessed fan. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Liminal_Bridges

I concur. We've been disappointed by more substantiated possibilities before.

Didn't wanna give you guys the opportunity to draw straws, http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=259706

The id mastermind is due to speak at the annual QuakeCon event tonight, where he's promised to reveal "something neat and unannounced".

DOOM 4 has already been announced. Everyone knows it exists, Carmack has already said the development time on it is going to move a lot faster than it did in comparison to RAGE.

So what could it be?!

I'm trying not to get excited, but you have totally ruined that notion. I still firmly believe that it's Doom 4. Mostly just to trick myself into hoping it's ESV.

Despite the fact that Bethesda's set for several presentations at QuakeCon, I don't know if pulling a last minute announcement of TES V at a convention that mostly revolves around id Software (and John Carmack's model spaceships) would really feel all that "right". Then again, this is more or less the last major gaming event of the year, so you never know - it's either now or 2011. I'm an avid Doom/Quake person myself, but I don't know if the convention's demographic would really respond that enthusiastically to the announcement.

"We are proud to announce that The Elder Scrolls V: is in development."

please, dont go getting people's hopes up about an annoncememt, if it does come.....hoorray! but it almost certianly wont come at quakecon, so please stop trying to prove otherwise.

Annoncing TES5 at quakecon would be like Blizzard going and doing a WoW annoncement at a Starcraft tournoment.....its just the wrong crowd.

read the first post....bethesda have stated frequently they are not and never will develop an MMO.

If id won't be making another IP, then why has Zenimax filed for "Prey" trademarks?...

I suppose a new Prey could be made by an out-of-house developer, and published by Bethesda Softworks, like Brink, etc. Perhaps Prey is being developed by Splash Damage.

Does anyone know where I can find feed of Quakecon, or news for it?
I think there's a small chance TESV will be announced at Quakecon, so here's hoping

Does anyone one know what day(s) Todd Howard will be speaking? I think its pointless to sit around and wait when some days clearly won't be of interest to us.

I would think they would hold off the announcement so they wouldn't steal the show from id, as it really is id's show, not Bethesda's.

If it wasnt for pete hines and that little comment he made, this event would be irrelevent for an elder scrolls announcement.

Still, keep the faith...

So Doom 4 is officially not being shown at this years QuakeCon. Here's a quote from IGN: "Those hoping to finally see Doom 4 at this year's QuakeCon will have to wait longer, perhaps until next year. At the convention's welcome speak, CEO Todd Hollenshead immediately broke hearts by saying that Doom 4 would not be shown." Here's the link: http://pc.ign.com/articles/111/1112036p1.html

Are things looking up for an Elder Scrolls V announcement now??? Elder Scrolls V is "unannounced" an would sure as hell be "neat"...

I dono, "neat" is more like an DLC, or a free release of one of their games or something. If I were describing a major, anticipated game I'd hardly call it "something neat."
