(It's not ESV, sorry).

It's kind of funny. We all saw Dark Messiah's combat, and we wanted that for ESV, and now Zenimax owns Arkane- the creators of Dark Messiah.

He just said something about releasing sourcecode for wolvenstein, could that be the 'neat' thing? I think so, the way he is talking i don't expect anything else.

So wait, do you think this is the "announcement" Pete Hines talked about before E3???

Still important. Arkane made some intense first person RPG games. I wonder what Zenimax is trying to do by acquiring more companies and IP's.

Could Bethesda hand off an IP to Arkane or iD and vice versa?

EDIT: http://www.el33tonline.com/past/2010/8/12/john_carmack_reveals_rage_running/. I think its neat.

It could have been a bunch of things. Don't automatically assume it'll be ESV. This is probably one of those big announcements.

So, is there a live stream anywhere of QuakeCon? I really want to see... http://www.ustream.tv/channel/quakecon-live-stream seems to be one, but it isn't working.

Is there announcement that arkane studios is part of their fold now? Should we expect anything else from mr. Hines or BGS? Where does this leave TESV?

We really don't know. We do know that there will be devs from BGS speaking at QuakeCon, but we know nothing about ESV.

@Serphiot: Thanks for the link.

Is there no livefeed for the Grand Ballroom? Because that is where Todd Howard talks tomorrow, and I wanted to watch it...

Well, the combat in Dark Messiah beat Oblivion by miles, but could've fitted quite well into it (as Skycaptain has showed more and more with every Deadly Reflex version). Who knows, might be an aquisition to improve aspects of TESV.

Pretty please?

Someone needs to drug Todd Howard with Truth Serium. Then we'll get the answer we need. Like in the movie Meet The Fockers.

I took away one thing of interest from the keynote:

Regarding the Arkane Studios acquisition: "Pete says "we are obviously working on an unannounced project with them." We'll see the mystery game in the future, including at QuakeCon."

Direct quote from Kotaku's live blog feed. I tuned into the video just afterwards, so didn't hear that myself. Seems Bethesda WILL be unveiling something, and if Arkane Studios have a history with first-person RPGs like others have mentioned... this weekend could be very interesting.

I see nothing in that quote to suggest Bethesda Game Studios will be announcing something at QuakeCon.

I wonder if Arkane's involvement in Bethesda's project will be with something like art, like with BioShock 2. Or maybe they'll lend a hand in combat and animation. Or perhaps both. ;)

"We'll see the mystery project...especially at QuakeCon"? Maybe he was talking about a different QuakeCon?

Well aren't they going to announce a game? I thought that there was indeed a game announcement planned for Quakecon and we all thought it was Doom 4 but now it has been revealed that it isn't.

Should be interesting whether it is Elder Scrolls or not.

I think he means future Quakecons. Assuming that is a direct quote...

The engine will be internal only. Thats quite amazing. Perhaps Bethesda is reworking the id tech engine for TES V?

That's about as bright as day, man, unless he's talking about a future QuakeCon.

I wonder if that would help push the Xbox 360 and PS3 to its limits? I could almost see ESV being created with that engine unless its already being created.

So if thats exactly what he said I suppose he could be talking about QuakeCon 2010. I think hes most likely talking about a future QuakeCon

If he was talking about a future QuakeCon, wouldn't he say future QuakeCon or QuakeCon 2011?

I think so. He came on stage for 5 minutes max, as an introductory speaker before Carmack's keynote began. I think he wanted to get the Arkane announcement out there and hint at the goodies in store for the weekend.

It may well be a new game entirely rather than TES:V, and the 'working together with Bethesda' part of his speech may have been referring to nothing more than a developer/publisher partnership. If that's the case, then it's just yet another game for Beth to publish whilst their internal team remains at hard work on TES:V.
