I don't think they aquired Arkane for that reason alone, it is definitely a benefit we will hopefully see from this, but I would assume they had different interests in mind when they did that.

But yes I agree they should definitely read the suggestions thread and I would think that they have at least on occasion.

Again, you guys, Arkane has joined with Bethesda Softworks NOT Bethesda Game Studios.

Bethesda doesn't accept help from the outside. They make their own game engine and make their own Elder Scrolls games.

They listen to the fans. We got level-scaling, so...

No, that would be Bethesda Game Studios. Bethesda Softworks publishes games.

Perhaps they should rename Bethesda Softworks and call it ZeniMax Publishing, instead. People confuse Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios with each other too much.

Yeah that would be a be a good idea. Just about every new member on the forums has made that mistake. The ones that talk about it at least.

I concur, who knows how many aimless interweb wanderers are making the same mistakes, remember when Rogue first came out and people bashed Beth for just having their name there.

I understand BGS make TES games, but do you expect Arkane to publish games. Perhaps Arkane will just make their own games, and have nothing to do with any BGS game. Just does't make much sense. :nope:

They have already stated that Arkane is developing a game... and also that they are doing so with Bethesda Softworks (the publisher) so I don't think there is anything to speculate on further other than the game they are making. They are not making anything with BGS, so don't worry about it. They might in the future, and frankly I think they play a better role in the Zenimax family as a resource rather than a stand alone developer.

Hey did anyone hear about bethesda buying Arcane studios. I was thinking if they might use them to help out on TESV or TES VI. Im not saying Bethesda would let another company totally make TESV, but just help.

...looks at current discussion...

...corporate structure isn't off-topic? ...wtf?

I HAVE A PROPOSITION FOR ALL FUTURE EDITIONS OF THE SPECULATION THREAD

I suggest that we make each iteration, volume, ...new numbering [whatever] of this thread and give it focus, give it a theme. The theme can be a new speculation or it can focus on a suggestion or two from the many volumes of that thread. Then we speculate about the possibilities of ES:V in terms of those things.

Examples: [Yes, I'm using Skyrim here because that is the best bet, but it need not be the only location]

-Skyrim: The Political Possibilities.

-Skyrim: The Scenic Route - What are you eager to see?

-id Tech 5: What effects would it have in ES:V [Dungeons, Landmass, Draw Distance, Facial Appearance, etc]

-No Mage Guild?: Does this mean no magicka or does this mean the conjurers and necromancers are free to run amok? ...and what would either of these mean for the player?

-Jyggalag: What role in ES:V? He is a Daedric Prince after all so he must have some followers by now, so probably a shrine too. And as the Nights of Order are daedra just as much as any scamp, it could be somewhat odd not to see them.

One topic, 9 pages [use the 10th to decide on the next topic]

Good Idea?

It's fine as it is.

I'm disappointed that they may only have been working on TES:V for less than two years. So they spent a lot of time upgrading their engine. Was that really necessary? I mean, by the time TES:V actually gets released the next gen of consoles won't be too far around the corner, meaning they'll only get to use their new engine once (yes, PC purists, consoles do matter as they make up a large chunk of sales) I don't know if engines can be transposed from one console gen to the next, I'm not sure how that all works. Isn't there another engine they could have taken off the shelf, as it were?

Maybe they're making that new engine for the next-gen consoles.

According to digitalspy.com, Bethesda may be announcing TES V quite soon. Todd Howard apparently revealed during his QuakeCon talk that Bethesda has been working on their current project for over two years. Now I don't know the validity of this statement from Todd Howard, I was playing golf yesterday and wasn't able to watch the live stream of QuakeCon. But the article has gotten me excited...
